Jose Garcia Hernandez, a 39-year-old construction worker from Chiapas, Mexico, straggled behind the group of seven other migrant men Wednesday afternoon after U.S. Border Patrol agents expelled them into the desolate border town of Sasabe, Mexico, just feet from the one-gas-station town of Sasabe, Arizona. Wearing a blue surgical mask, camouflage baseball cap, and a backpack, Hernandez said he was apprehended while walking along Highway 86 near the tribal reservation lands of the Tohono O’odham Nation, about 40 miles away. He had been trying to get to Phoenix, which is about 170 miles north of where Border Report witnessed him...

The US Navy destroyer USS Zumwalt fired a missile for the first time during a recent weapons test, the Navy announced Monday. The Zumwalt, a first-in-class stealth destroyer, test-fired an SM-2 missile from the ship's launcher last Tuesday at the Naval Air Weapons Center Weapons Division Sea Test Range in Point Mugu, California. The Zumwalt was commissioned in 2016, but it was not delivered to the Navy with a functional combat system until earlier this year. While the Zumwalt program has faced a number of significant setbacks, including cost overruns and major delays, a big issue was the ship's main...

US Catholic bishops fund network that endorses Biden, abortion, strippers October 23, 2020 (Lepanto Institute) — Last week, the Lepanto Institute published a report showing how the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), is funding a network of community organizers openly committed to helping Joe Biden get elected as the next president of the United States. The community organizing network, “Faith in Action” (formerly the PICO Network), has forty-nine affiliate members, twenty-nine of which received $1.5 million from pewsitting Catholics last year. In 2016, the CCHD provided a $500,000 grant directly to PICO/Faith...

OTTAWA -- A former member of U.S. President Donald Trump's COVID-19 task force says the president was warned "very early on" about the severity of the virus but still went "out of his way" to "undermine" efforts against it. "The president was told very early on that this virus would be worse than the flu," said Olivia Troye, former aide to Vice President Mike Pence, in an interview with CTV Question Period Host Evan Solomon airing Sunday. "He specifically said, 'Is this worse than the flu?' He was told, 'Yes, it absolutely is. It spreads a lot faster, and it...

Pacific Gas & Electric may cut power to over 1 million people on Sunday to prevent the chance of sparking wildfires as extreme fire weather returns to the region, the utility announced Friday. The nation’s largest utility said it could black out customers in 38 counties — including most of the San Francisco Bay Area — as weather forecasts called for a return of bone-dry, gusty weather that carries the threat of downing or fouling power lines or other equipment that in recent years have been blamed for igniting massive and deadly blazes in central and Northern California. The safety...

Hunter Biden’s ex-business partner Tony Bobulinski has flipped. He said he needed to come forward and set the record straight. Joe Biden has become a source of inquiry for some outlets regarding corruption allegations again. His son, Hunter, had his trove of emails exposed by The New York Post, showing that the former VP did indeed know a lot about the business dealings of his son. One, in particular, that’s drawing attention is this China deal, where some person noted as the “big guy” was slated to get a 10 percent equity stake in this arrangement. The Chinese firm no...

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden pushed back on President Trump's broadsides against his son Hunter Biden in a new interview, saying it is “crass” to go after the children of one's political rivals. Biden was asked in an interview on the progressive political podcast "Pod Save America" released Saturday why he hasn't highlighted concerns that Trump's own family is profiting off his position in the White House, a charge Trump has made against the former vice president's son. “It's a specific decision. And I just think it's crass,” Biden said. “Look, I'm running against Donald Trump, not his children. And...

Schneider: This Could Mean the Loss of Francis Soul The Catholic Faith, the voice of the Magisterium, and common sense reject the recognition of civil homosex unions, Bishop Athanasius Schneider writes in an October 22 statement. He points out that homosexuals seek sexual pleasure from each other which represents a "great scandal," “a public recognition of sins of fornication,” and is "unrealistic.” “With deep sorrow and a weeping heart,” Schneider regrets that Francis pronounced an endorsement of homosex unions. Thus, he supports "a structure of sin, for a lifestyle against the sixth Commandment of the Decalogue,” Schneider explains. He points...

The 2020 elections are more important than ever for many reasons, but one big reason is that Americans will be voting for politicians with pencils and erasers. In most states, elected politicians will have the power to erase the current lines of congressional districts and redraw them in ways that could change the laws that govern your life for the next 10 years. Voters could suddenly find they have been “moved” into a new district with a new Member of Congress because their district boundaries were redrawn by politicians elected this year. Political parties could find themselves losing power in...

This week I drove down to Thibodaux, Louisiana, to give a Live Not By Lies talk at Nicholls State University. Thibodaux is Cajun country. It is not the Bay Area. It is not the Upper West Side. It is not New England. It is a conservative place. But earlier in the week, the Social Justice Warriors made their malign presence known on campus in a big way. Last weekend, the campus College Republicans chalked pro-Trump messages on the sidewalk. Such as: “Geaux Trump” is the most Louisiana MAGA thing ever. Anti-Trump students had a meltdown. Over chalk. On a sidewalk....

The irony of Always Trump and Never Trump coming together to oust Lindsey is that … we’ll fail. I’ve thought from the start that SC is simply too red to elect Harrison, even with all of his money. Last week the NYT found Graham up a comfortable six points there, 46/40. Other polls have had Harrison slightly ahead, but FiveThirtyEight still gives Graham a three-in-four chance of winning (which frankly seems low). I think the Times has the outcome more or less right. I’d guess Graham 50, Harrison 45 or thereabouts on Election Day. Here’s your exit quotation, which is...

Evangelist Franklin Graham and leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention have responded to Pope Francis’ endorsement of same-sex civil unions, calling it “unthinkable in light of the Word of God” and explaining that no pope or priest gets to “define sexuality or the family.”“For Pope Francis to attempt to normalize homosexuality is to say that Holy Scriptures are false, that our sins really don’t matter, and that we can continue living in them,” Graham, the president of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, wrote on Facebook.“If that were true, then Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection wouldn’t have...

Logic, the science of constructing and analyzing arguments, is a forgotten discipline. This is a lamentable state of affairs, particularly given the importance of critical thinking vis-à-vis politics.Familiarity with logic is familiarity with the many ways in which arguments go wrong. When an argument is deficient, then it is fallacious.Aristotle, who is widely regarded as the Father of Western logic, identified numerous fallacies. Below is a select list of them: Appeal to Unqualified Authority: Arguments from authority are not illegitimate in themselves. Authorities, genuine authorities, are recognized as possessing expertise with respect to the subjects of the arguments in question. Yet an argument...

The Rev. Clenard Childress Jr. believes President Donald Trump is the greatest president for African Americans since President Abraham Lincoln. “There’s no question,” Childress said in an interview with The Christian Post. “He may be better for African Americans than Lincoln. Lincoln had a lot of political interest in what he did.” Childress has pastored the New Calvary Baptist Church in Montclair, New Jersey, since 1989. He also leads America’s largest African American pro-life website, the Life Education and Research Network. While Trump’s crass behavior, bullying and verbal bellicosity bother him, the policy changes his administration has made in the...

John Piper is one of the most respected Christian leaders in America, and I personally hold him in high esteem. Yet I differ with his suggestion that Christians might do best by sitting out the presidential election, since a vote for either Trump or Biden cannot be justified.Michael Brown holds a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Literatures from New York University and has served as a professor at a number of seminaries. He is the author of 25 books and hosts the nationally syndicated, daily talk radio show, the Line of Fire. Before sharing my differences, though, I want to...

When President Trump suggested at Thursday's presidential debate that the more than 500 migrant children unable to be reunited with their parents were brought to the border by "coyotes," many on social media were left confused. Trump supporters pounced on the mistake, mocking liberals who weren't up-to-date on border-area lingo. Many thought the president was talking about actual animals bringing children across the border -- rather than human smugglers, for whom "coyotes" is a slang term. (cut) Georgia state Rep. Dar'shun Kendrick, a Democrat, was among those who seemed to have been puzzled by the remark.
