Dr. Anthony Fauci — who is being petitioned to be crowned the next “Sexiest Man Alive” — was reportedly the inspiration for a mysterious scientist who engages in a steamy love affair with the widowed first lady in Sally Quinn’s 1991 novel “Happy Endings.” Fauci, the beloved White House coronavirus task force member, is the motivation in the bestselling book for the fictitious Michael Lanzer, a dashing National Institute of Health scientist who discovered a therapy for AIDS at a time when the president is HIV-positive. Quinn met the real-life Fauci for the first time when the two were paired...

Mostafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, announced that the newly discovered chamber contained four wooden coffins in poor state of preservation. Dr Ramadan Badri Hussein, archaeological supervisor at the Ministry of State for Antiquities Affairs, said that one of the coffins belongs to a woman called Didibastett. She was buried with six canopic jars, which contradicts with the custom in ancient Egypt which was to embalm the lungs, stomach, intestines and liver of the deceased, and then to store them in four jars under the protection of four gods, known as the Four Sons of Horus......

In 2019, a British judge ruled in favor of forcing a mentally disabled woman to have an abortion. In this egregious case, the woman was 22 weeks pregnant. Her mother had offered to raise and care for the child, saying an abortion violated her and her daughter’s beliefs. Nevertheless, the judged ruled to force the woman to abort against her will. Fortunately, the decision was later overruled. Before the judge’s verdict was overturned, a woman identifying herself as a mental health professional and therapist tweeted in favor of the forced abortion: Another Twitter user suggested that pro-lifers might avoid going...

Archaeologists found the burials in 2017, ahead of the construction of a skate park in Lechlade-on-Thames, a town in the southwestern county of Gloucestershire, England. Radiocarbon dating revealed that the two men lived in about 2200 B.C. The chieftain's burial held the skulls and hooves from four different cattle, Hood said. Head and hoof burial offerings were practiced in Europe during the Bronze Age, but were less common in Britain. "In fact, all previous examples here [in the U.K.] have been single cattle burials, so the Lechlade burial is unique in this regard," because it had four, Hood said. "It's...
  • Horowitz: Immigrants Have a Right to Welfare, but Citizens Have No Right to Liberty

Today, I make a powerful juxtaposition of how the courts are creating rights for foreign nationals to travel here and access welfare and at the same time are ignoring the rights of Americans. Governors are now ordering interstate travel bans. I explain why this violates natural rights and why the courts consistently fail to protect real rights. Also, the latest math and science about the virus you won’t hear from the media.

Surfers ride bioluminescent waves off California coast ByBen Hooper April 30 (UPI) -- Surfers off the California coast were caught on camera taking advantage of bioluminescence in the water by riding the neon blue waves after dark. Surfers were recorded off the coast of San Diego and elsewhere in southern California riding the waves amid unusually bright bioluminescence in the ocean. The phenomenon, caused by algae in the water, made it appear as though the surfers were riding glowing blue waves. Residents said the bioluminescence has been unusually bright recently. A pod of dolphins was caught on video last week...

On Ellen DeGeneres’s daytime talk show Monday, the liberal comedian brought on celebrity couple, actress Gabrielle Union and retired NBA star Dwyane Wade, to praise them for their “supportive” decision to “transition” their pre-teen son into a girl. Along the way, the host and actress had some harsh words for parents who don’t share their same trendy views on parenting. Although Wade appeared later in the show, Union began the interview talking with Ellen. While lavishing praise on the couple’s decision to let their 12-year-old change genders, DeGeneres encouraged the actress to bash less woke parents as heartless monsters who...

The New York Times is waking up to Tara Reade’s accusation of sexual assault against likely Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Yet the paper is still flattering Biden's party with its concern over #MeToo issues, “vitally important to many members of his party.” Saturday’s off-lead story dealt with Biden’s uncomfortable interview on the subject with Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Reporters Katie Glueck, Lisa Lerer, and Sydney Ember teamed for “Biden, Breaking Silence, Denies Assaulting Aide." They actually gave Biden credit for his response. Mr. Biden, in arguing that victims should be heard while trying to defend himself, also further...

WILL THE ITALIAN CHURCH EVER RISE AGAIN? (Abp. Viganò on Government prohibition of Masses and Pope's call for obedience) ROME — As Italy and the United States begin to open up in the wake of Covid-19, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has said he believes a widespread disinformation campaign is now underway, and the crisis is providing for some an excellent opportunity to restrict people’s freedoms. He is therefore urging bishops not to succumb to civil or ecclesial pressure, but to take back their role as leaders and use the authority they have from Christ to provide the Sacraments and the celebration...

The left is salivating about using the pandemic crisis to force massive changes to American society. Average Americans, of course, just want to go back to work or to the mall or to … church. And those desires -- in particular the last one -- could present a formidable stumbling block in the sprint to the new progressive future. Despite years of eager predictions to the contrary, “the opiate of the masses” is not dead. In fact, it’s feeling better. Since the pandemic began, secular progressives in the media have been spewing venom at Evangelical Christians, blaming their purportedly anti-science...

Police in Germany shared a photo from the rescue of a hungry hedgehog that got its head stuck in a discarded milkshake cup. Bremerhaven police said officers found the hedgehog struggling to free itself from the cup in the middle of a road. Police said the hedgehog was apparently drawn to the smell of what was left in the banana-flavored milkshake cup after it was discarded. Officers were able to pull the cup off the animal's head and the hedgehog was released into a nearby meadow.

...The cuts include a $300 million reduction in K-12 public-school funding, $210 million from Medicaid spending and $110 million from college and university funding, DeWine said. DeWine said all state government agencies will see their budgets cut, adding up to $100 million, except for the state Department of Corrections, which operates state prisons. As recently as the end of February, the state was running ahead of its estimated revenues by $200 million. But as of the end of April, state revenues now are below estimates by $776.9 million, according to DeWine...

Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent nonsurgical treatment for a benign gallbladder condition Tuesday afternoon at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, a court spokeswoman said in a statement. After the court's first day of oral arguments by phone Monday morning, Ginsburg went for outpatient tests at a hospital in Washington. Those tests, according to the statement, "confirmed that she was suffering from a gallstone that had migrated to her cystic duct, blocking it and causing an infection."
