The coronavirus is adding stress to truckers delivering essential goods throughout the U.S. as they struggle to find bathrooms and rest stops to grab a bite to eat and take a nap. “It’s been especially hard if you can’t find a place to park,” Angie Baum, who drives with her husband, Larry, told KTVI. “A lot of the truck stops are limiting the number of trucks that come in. “We’re out on the road a lot more,” Angie said. “We’re out about six days a week right now. We’re home for usually about a day, day and a half.” Many...

This is another video for ocean liner and tugboat fans. It shows various historic ocean liners arriving in New York harbor. In some cases, the newsreel crew was there because somebody notable was on the ship. In other cases, they just seemed to be there to film the arrival and docking. 00:00 The United States Lines' SS WASHINGTON, as seen from water level. Taken in 1934. 00:25 the United States Lines' SS LEVIATHAN (ex Hamburg-America Lines' VATERLAND) arrives at its pier in early 1928. Syrian migrants flooding the shores of the Greek Islands is a regular occurrence for the Hellenic Navy. But last week, they noticed something unusual. A boat filled with illegal migrants that was prevented from entering Greece’s territorial waters in the eastern Aegean Sea, was escorted by a Turkish coastguard who approached the boat but then, in unusual fashion, kept a safe distance from it reports Greek City Times. After that, the Greek forces noticed another Turkish coastguard crew who boarded the boat filled with the illegal migrants. This time, the Turkish crew wore full medical protective suits confirming suspicions that...

So how is CNN approaching the two most important elected officials in the country in these days of crisis? At Elected Official One, CNN directs a nonstop barrage of antagonistic questions, along with hostile commentary disguised as questions, plus additional hostile commentary not disguised as questions, for the sole purpose of creating gotcha moments that serve no public-information purpose whatsoever. It’s dog meets fire hydrant. When dealing with Elected Official Two, CNN brings in . . . his brother. For a nonstop massage of gentle questioning, family banter and general fawning. It’s dog meets other dog’s butt.

Linda Tripp died yesterday, Wednesday - not of the Coronavirus, but of pancreatic cancer apparently diagnosed only last week. Without Ms Tripp's decision to tape surreptitiously her conversations with a certain Pentagon colleague, there would have been no Clinton second-term scandal, no little blue dress for the FBI crime lab, no impeachment... She was a not unattractive woman, but the left is unforgiving to those who refuse to overlook their heroes' pathologies (as we're currently seeing with Joe Biden's accuser), so Linda was turned into the pantomime dame of the cast: "Saturday Night Live" hired John Goodman to play her...

THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW: Open Our Churches Now! Mass on Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima, then... closed churches now? "Open the churches, Your Excellencies. Follow the guidelines until April 30th but, in the meantime, do not let the anti-God, anti-family and anti-life secular state lock us out of the very places where hope springs eternal and where men are emboldened by God Himself to resist oppression. For God's sake, open our churches and let our priests bring the Lumen Christi to dispel the tenebrae of fear and debilitating panic. Trust in Almighty God, not the World Health Organization. For...

Foreign nationals held in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody are self-deporting from the United States to avoid potential infection with the Chinese coronavirus. While federal judges are helping release convicted illegal alien and legal immigrant criminals from ICE detention amid claims that they could potentially contract the coronavirus, some ICE detainees are self-deporting back to their native countries. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus has asked for all 40,000 ICE detainees — including those with violent crime convictions — to be released from federal custody to avoid possible infection of the coronavirus.

Found this in some blog comments: "Some smart people have analyzed the toilet paper hoarding and concluded it isn’t that at all. Their view is that there are two “channels” of TP production – commercial and domestic. The TP manufactured for commercial purposes is more utilitarian and less luxurious, is made to fit more industrial dispensing methods and is consumed by the pallet. Domestic TP is designed to appeal to one’s sense of comfort and luxury, a single roll at a time and is available in small multi-roll packs, generally. Only a few manufacturers produce for both demand streams, and...

What have we learned from coronavirus? We learned that walls work. We learned that the open borders idée fixe has tumbled on both sides of the Atlantic in just about a month or so, besides the fact that the run-up to the destructive open borders strategy had been going on for decades. We learned that we are facing digital Easter, digital Passover, digital this, and digital that everywhere. Surprisingly, all of this because of the number of infected in the United States has reached "catastrophic" 0.1% of the entire population. (For comparison, seasonal flu affects about 20% or more of...

In 1984, a teenager took the lead — educating a frightened world about a deadly disease. Thirty years later, the world is facing another disease that is claiming lives, COVID-19. Following his diagnosis, White was banned from attending his high school classes. Not attending school was not White’s choice; he simply wanted to be with friends and learn during a time when panic and fear gripped the nation. advertisement So, White’s family pursued his right to attend school...

Wednesday on MSNBC’s “The 11th Hour,” former lead strategist for Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign James Carville said the presumptive Democratic Party nominee former Vice President Joe Biden would “wipeout” President Donald Trump in 2020. (snip) Carville said, “First of all, he (Trump) won with 46.1%. He’s literally lost 95% of the elections that have taken place between the time of his election and right now. His polling numbers are going down, and they’re awful. Usually, in a crisis – I mean, Jimmy Carter was at 67% in the Iran hostage crisis. The prime minister of Italy is over 70%....

CBS News is stepping on all the fake news rakes this week. First, the network aired misleading footage for its New York City Wuhan coronavirus story by broadcasting footage of an Italian hospital that was overrun with Wuhan coronavirus patients. Then, the network apologized and said it was an editing error before re-airing the same footage for a story about a hospital in Pennsylvania. CBS News then peddled another bogus story about a nurse who quit her job due to a lack of personal protection equipment, which was not vetted at all. And now, we have remarks being cut for...

Democratic strategist James Carville predicted on Wednesday that Democrats would easily achieve victory in November because of the way President Trump handled the coronavirus pandemic. "I am totally, totally unimpressed by President Trump's political powers. I have absolutely no fear ... if we go to post in November with anything close to a level playing field, it's going to be a Democratic wipeout. People are not going to vote for four more years of this," he said in an interview with MSNBC, adding that Trump's approval ratings are low given that a national crisis is unfolding. “First of all, he...

The Swedish experiment continues to be one of the most interesting things happening in the world right now. Pretty much every other country in the world, including Sweden’s neighbors Denmark and Norway, have adopted similar types of government-ordered social distancing. But in Sweden, the country is merely asking people to be sensible and hoping that’s enough to slow the spread of the virus. Anders Tegnell, the head epidemiologist at the semi-independent agency that is managing the Swedish response has denied that he is pursuing a herd immunity strategy but has previously said in an interview “We will not be able...

Posted on April 9, 2020 by Msgr. Charles Pope Passiontide Chronology: Holy Thursday According to the Synoptic Gospels, sundown of Holy Thursday ushered in the Passover. Later on this evening, the Lord will celebrate the Passover meal with His disciples. We ought to be mindful that the unleavened bread Jesus will take in His hands is called “the bread of affliction.” Scripture says, You shall eat [the Passover] with unleavened bread, the bread of affliction—for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste—that all the days of your life you may remember the day when you came...
