There are as many as 10 million low-income, childless adults in the United States who are eligible for the federal government’s stimulus payment program, but are at risk of missing out on the money, according to tax experts. That’s because they aren’t required to file tax returns, making it harder for the IRS to verify their income — or even to know who they are or where to find them. “These folks are very disconnected from the tax system." By law, people don’t have to file if they earn less than $12,200. Those without children aren’t eligible for the child...

The late journalism professor Ted J. Smith III wrote many years ago in The American Enterprise magazine that the press is often guilty of an "omnidirectional" bias. They will criticize their targets for taking one course of action, which in no way stops them from later criticizing their targets for doing the opposite. Their targets are usually conservatives or Republicans. This means that during the novel coronavirus pandemic, the press is seeking to punish anyone conservative or Republican for downplaying the coronavirus threat as well as anyone suggesting the virus was being exploited by the media as the latest cudgel...

The head of the World Health Organization took aim at President Trump’s criticism of the agency on Wednesday, telling him and other world leaders not to politicize the coronavirus crisis “if you don’t want many more body bags.”

Law & Order: SVU star Chris Meloni is done with the Trump administration’s pandemic response efforts. The man famous for playing NYC police officer Elliot Stabler has been lighting up social media with his insults towards the president, because of course it’s one of the few methods that help society through a time of crisis. Yeah Trump’s a “piece of s**t” and we’re all going to gather ‘round and post about it. World saved. Meloni really took issue with Trump’s coronavirus press conferences last week. During one of the briefings Trump rebuffed the idea that he may have been distracted...

Posted on April 8, 2020 Passiontide Chronology: Wednesday of Holy Week Two momentous days have passed: On Monday there was the cleansing of the Temple and the laments over Jerusalem’s lack of faith; Tuesday featured exhaustive teachings by Jesus and interrogations by His opponents.Today, Wednesday, it would seem that Jesus stays in Bethany. According to Matthew’s Gospel, the day begins with an ominous warning:When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he said to his disciples, “As you know, the Passover is two days away—and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified” (Matthew 26:1-2).The scene...

Thirty residents of a Texas City, Texas nursing home are being treated for the coronavirus with hydroxychloroquine. The nursing home houses one of the largest outbreaks in the Houston area. Out of more than 100 coronavirus tests that were administered to residents and staff at the Resort at Texas City, a nursing home, 83 tested positive for COVID-19. There are 135 beds in this facility in Galveston County. A staff member became ill with the coronavirus and that prompted the mass testing. Now 30 residents are being given hydroxychloroquine as treatment. On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott said that the...

In reporting on America facing a critical shortage of N95 masks during this global pandemic, wouldn’t it make sense to look at how that happened and why America is in this position? Not according to CBS. On Wednesday, CBS This Morning’s Dr. Jon LaPook somehow ignored the fact that Barack Obama depleted the supply of masks and never restocked. You’ll never guess who does get mentioned for blame. (Well, you probably will: Donald Trump.) Co-host Tony Dokoupil introduced, “A Department of Health and Human services report this week echoes urgent calls from hospitals for more supplies. One administrator cited a...

An ABC News joint investigation with its owned television stations sheds new light on the likely flow of the coronavirus from global hotspots into the U.S. and provides a glimpse the toll the virus has taken on some of the first Americans to interact with international travelers: airport workers. From December 2019 through March 2020, as severe outbreaks cropped up in China and then Italy and Spain, among others, thousands of flights from the hard-hit nations poured into U.S. cities, according to an ABC News analysis of more than 20 million flight records obtained from the tracking service Flightradar-24. While...

TJ Kim can’t play lacrosse -- COVID-19 took the sport away. And at age 16, he can’t drive alone. But Kim can fly. And he’s turned his flying lessons into missions of mercy, bringing desperately needed supplies to rural hospitals in need. Each week, he carries gloves, masks, gowns and other equipment to small hospitals. When he made his first delivery, on March 27 to a 25-bed hospital in Luray, he was taken aback by the reception. “They kind of conveyed to me that they were really forgotten about. Everyone was wanting to send donations to big city hospitals,” he said. “Every...

Mayor of Heanor in Derbyshire and Labour district councillor Sheila Oakes had responded to a Facebook post in a party group asking people to say a “little prayer” to Prime Minister Johnson who was admitted to the intensive care unit of St Thomas’ hospital in London on Monday after his condition had worsened. Miss Oakes had written on the social media platform: “Sorry, he completely deserves this, and he is one of the worst PMs we’ve ever had.” After backlash on social media, the Amber Valley Labour Group withdrew the party whip from Oakes, and she is no longer a...

I wrote an article about Long Islanders loving Long Island recently and it received more than 34,000 "likes." Thank you. However, I received too many comments saying, sadly, that some had to leave the island because of economics. "It's become too expensive!" or "It became so costly I had to move south but still visit the kids and grandkids!" some comments said. The quote that inspired this post was the one that said, "Long Island became great because it was affordable for the blue-collar working class. A place they could raise a family in an affordable house, with decent schools,...

As you know, the coronavirus—if you catch it, and get very sick—is a terrible thing to go through and you may even die. The virus and the fear of it are sorely testing our medical capacity in some places. And the body count will get much worse this week, right before Easter. The heroic efforts and sacrifice of many doctors, nurses, and volunteer civilians are all notable and praiseworthy. Millions of Americans are pulling together. We all know this. But do you know the odds of any American getting this virus? One would think that number is easily known or...

Washington - Joe Biden is now the likely 2020 Democratic presidential nominee after his last remaining opponent, Bernie Sanders, dropped out of the race on Wednesday morning, a day after Wisconsin held its primary amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the results of that race will not be known until next week, Biden is widely expected to score another decisive victory. After Sanders announced the end of his presidential campaign, Biden told Sanders in a statement, "You will be heard by me. As you say: Not me, Us." He also addressed the senator's supporters: "I see you, I hear you, and...

Baton Rouge, LA – Despite a serious Coronavirus outbreak in the New Orleans area, abortion facilities in Louisiana remain open for business. At a time when ordinary citizens are ordered to stay at home, and legitimate businesses are shutting down, Louisiana abortion facilities continue to invite women seeking elective abortions – including those from out-of-state – to pack their businesses. An abortionist named Musa Williams, an intern at the LSU Medical Center, travels from the Coronavirus breakout zone in New Orleans to conduct abortions at the Delta Clinic of Baton Rouge. Recent photos of Williams taken on April 2, 2020,...
