Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker (D-Not Indicted Yet) said in an interview last week that Wisconsin can expect a southern invasion at election time. “Trust me, as has happened in previous years, van loads and bus loads of people from Illinois are going to be pouring over the borders into Wisconsin and Iowa helping to knock on doors working with the ground operations in those states and I’m excited about us being able to help.” Pritzker told Politico at the 10th annual State Solutions Conference in Washington. Pritzker did not say how many cemetery residents he’ll be sending along to...

President Donald Trump will extend his national emergency on the US-Mexico border for another year, according to a notice submitted to the Federal Register on Thursday (13 Feb 2020). The notice comes nearly a year after Trump declared a national emergency in order to secure funding to build his signature wall. The move paved the way for Trump to unlock billions of dollars in federal funds to construct additional barriers on the southern border, bypassing Congress after lawmakers refused to meet his multi-billion-dollar fund request. This is the first time the White House has renewed the emergency, which it plans...

“There was greater controversy when President Barack Obama weighed in on the arrest of a Harvard professor in 2009. Obama said that Cambridge, Massachusetts, police “acted stupidly” when arresting Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. in July 2009. Gates had locked himself out of his home and forced the door open; a neighbor called police, and a confrontation ensued after Sgt. James Crowley arrived and asked for ID. In a press conference several days later, Obama admitted he did not have all the facts, but still accused the officer of racism.”

"You're awake, by the way," MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, deadpan, informed the viewers in a clip shared widely on election night 2016. "You're not having a terrible, terrible dream. Also, you're not dead, and you haven't gone to Hell." Hillary Clinton, a polished Madam Secretary, had lost an election to a person who had been viewed as a joke — a political outsider, an eccentric celebrity, and a real estate billionaire with a scandalous personal life and some shady business issues. "Donald Trump, the racist, sexist, xenophobic candidate of the Republican alt-right, has been elected President of the United States....

China’s Huawei Technologies Co. and two of its U.S. subsidiaries were charged with racketeering and conspiracy to steal trade secrets in a new federal indictment unsealed Thursday. The additional charges come in a criminal case the company already faces in federal court in Brooklyn. They build on allegations the U.S. filed against Huawei in January of last year. Federal prosecutors in Brooklyn said the new charges related to an effort by Huawei and its subsidiaries, both in the U.S. and China, to steal intellectual property, including from six U.S. technology companies. Prosecutors said Huawei’s efforts were successful, and resulted in...

The Pentagon is moving $3.8 billion from various weapons programs such as the F-35 fighter jet to pay for President Trump’s southern border wall, according to a notice sent to Congress on Thursday (13 Feb 2020)... Congress twice voted to overturn Trump's emergency declaration, which allowed him to reprogram defense funds for the wall, but were unable to override his vetoes. The money being reprogrammed Thursday is being taken under a different executive authority that allows counter-drug funds to be used on the wall. The notice says that $2.2 billion from the Pentagon’s base fiscal 2020 budget and $1.6 billion...

I love being a Linux system administrator, but there are things about it that I don't love. No job is perfect, but someone should at least warn the newcomers of the dangers that lie ahead. Well, you've come to the right place to find out everything you wanted to know, and probably a little extra, about being a Linux system administrator. These are my experiences and might not reflect the greater system administration universe. I make no claims, promises, or guarantees by presenting these ten things I wish I'd know before becoming a Linux system administrator to you. They are in no...

When the dam bursts, a lot of water is released. The Roger Stone dam has burst and we have a flood of new information that should absolutely result in a mistrial. Desperate to find something to hang Trump and justify its existence, the Mueller team had been investigating Roger Stone for some time. Mueller's crew fabricated all sorts of charges but then limited them to something that sounded vaguely justifiable. With that in hand, on January 25, 2019 Mueller had the FBI conduct a pre-dawn raid to apprehend the dangerous 67 year old in ill health and no criminal record...

Elizabeth Warren did poorly in Iowa, despite laying claim to having built the earliest, largest, and most sophisticated field operation. The caucus vote-counting confusion provided cover for Warren to escape relatively unscathed. But the New Hampshire results are in, and Warren got clobbered in her neighboring state, despite mostly favorable coverage nationally and her home Boston market. She lost to Bernie, Pete Buttigieg, and Amy Klobuchar. Now Warren can’t hide. The massive campaign machine Warren built, reportedly with over 1000 campaign employees, could not overcome the most fundamental problem Warren’s campaign faced: Warren’s public persona of being a fake. Americans...

PHOENIX — An organization of moms against gun violence is applauding a recent decision by the Phoenix Union High School Board. The board voted unanimously last week to require the parent or guardian of the district’s 27,000 students to read and sign a gun storage safety form. "This is just an obvious thing we can do to prevent future tragedies,” said board member Lela Alston. The "Secure Storage Notification Resolution" requires that gun storage and safety information be included in the student handbook of all 27,000 students of the district's 20 high schools. The resolution was prompted by the groups...

Much conservative writing about communism being published today amounts to little more than nostalgia reading. It seems that every year we see yet another of the endless line of books dealing with either the Red Era in Hollywood or the glories of Joe McCarthy. The purpose of these appears to be to generate feeling of comfort on looking back at an era in which men were men, commies were commies, and J. Edgar… Well, we’ll overlook what he was doing. The problem is that this stuff, pleasant though it may be, tends to push out work that deals with aspects...

Though this may not be a representative opinion, I think Joe Biden’s decline turned into a power dive with his claim over the weekend of almost sole responsibility for the destruction of Robert Bork’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1987. Even this was dishonest, as Teddy Kennedy’s savage attack, imputing to Bork the desire to banish women who sought an abortion to the care of butchers in back allies, carried more weight than did Biden, who as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee was supposed to show a modicum of impartiality. But they were both guilty of abominable...

Biden’s 'Lying, Dog-Faced Pony Soldier' Remark Reminds Us: The Dem Candidates Are ALL Crazy BY ROBERT SPENCER 2020-02-10T14:37:04 Joe Biden is always good for laughs, but there isn’t really any joke: he’s serious. On Sunday, he reminded us just how far around the bend he is when he called a female questioner in New Hampshire a “lying, dog-faced pony soldier.” Even Fox News, along with the rest of the establishment media, immediately rushed to his aid by claiming he was “joking,” but imagine what the uproar would have been if Trump had called anyone that. In any case, it’s important...

One big story after the first two Democratic primary elections is the fast fade of former Vice President Joe Biden, who came in fourth in Iowa and a dismal fifth in New Hampshire. But one other prominent candidate is quickly losing altitude as well: Sen. Elizabeth Warren. Last fall, Warren was more popular than Bernie Sanders and a solid second behind Biden. Her rallies drew thousands and her plans for everything forced competing candidates to plan up. But Warren landed third in Iowa and fourth in New Hampshire, a particularly lousy showing given that she’s from the neighboring state of...

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas - It’s normal to target new voters ahead of Super Tuesday. Think volunteers holding clipboards at street festivals, malls or outside grocery stores. Democrats in Texas have made it a perennial focus, hoping they can end decades of losses by rousing more voters to the polls. Republicans here, meanwhile, never really needed to bother - but now that’s changing as worries deepen about their grip on the state in 2020. With their base not expanding and their margins of victory getting thinner, Texas Republicans have begun spending big on finding more conservatives to vote. And they’ve taken a...

The good news for the fake Indian is, Joe Biden was also on the ballot in New Hampshire Tuesday. The bad news is everything else. See, the media only have room for one major political obituary every day, and Tuesday it was Creepy Joe’s turn. (Andrew Yang and Michael Bennet don’t count, never did, obviously.) But don’t worry, Sen. Warren, your day is near. You’re approaching the political checkout counter. Take a number. You’re in the passing lane on the Trail of Tears, as your ancestors might put it, to the Happy Hunting Ground. Speaking with forked tongue only take-um...

As the Coronavirus outbreak continues to roil China with no end in sight, media outlets around the world have indulged in varying degrees of speculation concerning its origins. That speculation has taken a geopolitical turn in Russia, where an increasing number of political commentators have to come to believe that the virus is a U.S. bioweapon ultimately directed at Russia. First, a disclaimer. The Kremlin—up to and including Russian president Vladimir Putin—itself has shown a remarkable degree of judiciousness since the Coronavirus outbreak, limiting its official statements to expressions of sympathy and offers of aid to the Chinese government. Nevertheless,...
