Arizona State University told students and faculty on Sunday that a case of the Wuhan coronavirus was confirmed in the university community, according to an email sent by ASU officials. The university and the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) confirmed that the person lives in Tempe, where the university is located, but does not live in university housing, according to an email sent by Mark Searle, executive vice president and provost at the university, and Morgan Olsen, executive vice president and CFO of the university.

THE World Health Organization today said the global risk from the deadly virus in China was “high”, admitting an error in its previous reports that said it was “moderate”. The UN health body said in a situation report published late yesterday that the risk was “very high in China, high at regional level and high at global level”.

The Chinese authorities have released first pictures of a new strain of coronavirus which has killed at least 81 people and infected more than 2,800. China's National Microbiology Data Center published electron microscopic images of the novel coronavirus extracted from two patients in Wuhan, the ground zero of the outbreak of the deadly virus.
