Hong Kong (AFP) - Governments need to implement "draconian" travel curbs to stop a mystery coronavirus in China becoming a global epidemic, a team of experts mapping the outbreak said Monday. Scientists at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) presented a briefing warning that the spread of the deadly SARS-like virus that first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan was accelerating. "We have to be prepared that this particular epidemic may be about to become a global epidemic," said Gabriel Leung, head of the team. "Substantial, draconian measures limiting population mobility should be taken sooner, rather than later."

Hard to say what fired and now former National Security Advisor John Bolton is up to these days now that the Senate impeachment trial is on. The latest news is here on the front page of the New York Times, reporting an anonymous "leak": WASHINGTON — President Trump told his national security adviser in August that he wanted to continue freezing $391 million in security assistance to Ukraine until officials there helped with investigations into Democrats including the Bidens, according to an unpublished manuscript by the former adviser, John R. Bolton. The president’s statement as described by Mr. Bolton...

Isn’t it interesting that the words that the president didn’t say regarding a “quid pro quo” are going directly to intent. It’s being said that people knew what he meant when he said he wanted nothing. Yet, the words Joe actually said (on video no less) are not important. So is it that words don’t matter when said by a crooked democrat but yet when not said by a Republican president somehow do? How the hell does that work? These people are nothing short of window lickers.

The helicopter carrying Kobe Bryant and eight others that crashed into a rugged hillside in Calabasas was flying in foggy conditions considered dangerous enough that local police agencies grounded their choppers. The cause of the crash was unknown, but conditions at the time were such that the Los Angeles Police Department and the county sheriff's department grounded their helicopters. Bryant’s helicopter left Santa Ana in Orange County, south of Los Angeles, shortly after 9 a.m. and circled for a time just east of Interstate 5, near Glendale. Air traffic controllers noted poor visibility around Burbank, just to the north, and...

U.S.—The Babylon Bee has been the world's best satire site for thousands of years, spawning dozens of secular knock-offs that just aren't quite as good. The site announced a new acquisition this week, one that immediately made the site the largest satirical site on the planet: a purchase of competing satire site CNN for $12 billion. The move more than quadrupled the site's catalog of hilarious, satirical articles. "We've long admired CNN's ability to parody leftist media organizations so effortlessly, and we're thrilled to have them under The Babylon Bee's umbrella," said site CEO Seth Dillon. "When you can't compete...

A sharp rise in citywide crime since 2020 began was sparked by New York’s new bail reform laws, which took away a judge’s discretion to hold repeat and possibly violent offenders behind bars, NYPD Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said at a press conference Friday. “In the first three weeks of this year, we’re seeing significant spikes in crime. So either we forgot how to police New York City, or there’s a correlation,” Shea told reporters in reference to the new laws. “If you let out individuals that commit a lot of crime, that’s precision policing in reverse and we’re seeing...

“Evidence and witnesses!” is the constant refrain from the House impeachment managers like Rep. Adam “Shifty” Schiff and Rep. Jerry “Jabba” Nadler even as Schiff had hidden evidence in the form of the transcript for his star-chamber interview with ICIG Michael Atkinson and block witness in the person of himself and the Ukraine phone call whistleblower. The hypocrisy of it all is underscored by the fact that by hiding the whistleblower and the details of his initial contacts with Schiff and the ICIG, Schiff and the House managers are denying President Trump a basic constitutional right -- the right to...

New Jersey will become the first state to require that builders take into account the impact of climate change, including rising sea levels, in order to win government approval for projects, Gov. Philip D. Murphy plans to announce on Monday. The move by Mr. Murphy, a Democrat, is part of a widening effort by states to use regulations to address worsening climate conditions and to aggressively counteract the Trump administration’s push to roll back environmental regulations. “This is not abstract for us,” Mr. Murphy said in an interview. “This is real. The dangers are there.” New Jersey’s initiative is believed...

Adam Schiff accused President Donald Trump of trying to threaten him Sunday in a tweet suggesting Schiff would “pay a price” — but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi used the same phrase on Senate Republicans just two weeks ago. Nancy Pelosi said they’d take Trump out “one way or another.” And that sounds a little threatening… But Adam Schiff and his Dem colleagues can sure dish it, but they clutch their pearly pearls when they get it. Trump tweeted Sunday morning that Schiff had not “paid the price, yet, for what he has done to our Country!”

It's been about 10 years since the public discovered Fast and Furious, the gun walking operation conducted by the ATF under the Obama administration. The ATF arranged for straw buyers to purchase guns from American gun stores and transfer them to arms traffickers who would give them to drug cartels in Mexico. Ostensibly, the ATF would then track down the cartels. But they lost track of the guns, and some were used to kill Americans. Yet where are the prosecutions of the Obama officials who ran it? The victims and their families have never received justice. But they're looking into...

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem (Music in The Bible) Psalm 99 Psalm 99 1 The Lord reigns, let the nations tremble; he sits enthroned between the cherubim, let the earth shake. 2 Great is the Lord in Zion; he is exalted over all the nations. 3 Let them praise your great and awesome name— he is holy. 4 The King is mighty, he loves justice— you have established equity; in Jacob you have done what is just and right. 5 Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy. 6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among...

With at least 27 people killed and 18 million acres incinerated as of last week, the worst bushfire season Australia has seen in decades is a bad one, no doubt about it.   Reproduced with permission of the Western Australian Land Information Authority, the FireWatch map below shows the location of individual fires as of Jan. 14, 2020. Disclaimer: The size of the icons on the map relates to the location of the fire and not to the size of the fire on the ground. Any opinions expressed herein are mine and were not arrived at in consultation with the Western Australian...

The mayor of the Chinese city where a deadly virus broke out says he would be willing to resign if it helps the government contain its spread. Mayor Zhou Xianwang told state broadcaster CCTV that both he and Wuhan’s Communist Party secretary are willing to take responsibility for closing off the city, including being removed from office. As the virus spread through China and overseas, transportation links to the city were cut last week to prevent more people from leaving. Zhou also responded to allegations that the city was slow to disclose information in the early days of the outbreak,...

Steele yourself: the endgame is in sight. The Steele dossier was a hoax. Russia was a hoax. Quid pro quo is chicanery. Climate change hysteria is a hoax. All of them lies and fabrications spread organically with alacrity and growing lethalness, not unlike the Coronavirus, another pestilence that, while not a hoax, is quite likely a coverup. But take heart. The Democrats’ dream team is about to suffer a crushing defeat at the hands of their arch-enemy on the floor of the Senate. As for the rest, well, Homer has that covered as well:According to The D'oh! of Homer you might call...

"I pray that ... you may know ... the surpassing greatness of [God's] power toward us who believe" (Eph. 1:18-19). The same divine power that created, sustains, and controls the universe secures your salvation. God’s power is awesome! David wrote, “Thine, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Thine is the dominion, O Lord, and Thou dost exalt Thyself as head over all. Both riches and honor come from Thee, and Thou dost rule over all, and in Thy hand...

“Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds. For riches are not for ever: and doth the crown endure to every generation? The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered. The lambs are for thy clothing, and the goats are the price of the field. And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens” (Proverbs 27:23-27).

Last week, we witnessed the latest episode of “Woke-scolds Attack†as Bernie Sanders committed the unimaginable crime of sharing a mild endorsement from comedian and podcast host Joe Rogan. Speaking with New York Times staff editor Bari Weiss, Joe Rogan stated that he was likely to vote for Bernie Sanders in the California Democratic Primary. Given that the Joe Rogan Experience is downloaded by hundreds of millions of listeners a month, it would be mind-bogglingly foolish for Bernie Sanders’ campaign not to try and take political advantage. Setting aside the arguably flawed logic in Joe Rogan’s argument - consistency of...

A girls’ basketball coach was identified as one of the fatalities in the crash that killed Kobe Bryant and his daughter Sunday, officials said. Christina Mauser — who worked at a private school in Orange County, California — was among nine people killed instantly when their helicopter crashed in Calabasas, according to Costa Mesa Mayor Katrina Foley. “My kids and I are devastated,” Christina’s husband, Matt Mauser, wrote on Facebook. “We lost our beautiful wife and mom today in a helicopter crash. Please respect our privacy. Thank you for all the well wishes they mean so much.” Also killed in...
