Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)
Psalm 99
Psalm 99
1 The Lord reigns,
let the nations tremble;
he sits enthroned between the cherubim,
let the earth shake.
2 Great is the Lord in Zion;
he is exalted over all the nations.
3 Let them praise your great and awesome name
he is holy.
4 The King is mighty, he loves justice
you have established equity;
in Jacob you have done
what is just and right.
5 Exalt the Lord our God
and worship at his footstool;
he is holy.
6 Moses and Aaron were among his priests,
Samuel was among those who called on his name;
they called on the Lord
and he answered them.
7 He spoke to them from the pillar of cloud;
they kept his statutes and the decrees he gave them.
8 Lord our God,
you answered them;
you were to Israel a forgiving God,
though you punished their misdeeds.[a]
9 Exalt the Lord our God
and worship at his holy mountain,
for the Lord our God is holy.

1. Psalm 99:8 Or God, / an avenger of the wrongs done to them

Our Father In Heaven,
Blessed and Glorious Is Your Most Holy and Wonderful Name!

and Into Your Courts With Praise.
For Your Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are the True God of Abraham!
How We Want To Love You and Serve You with Our Whole Heart,

Our Whole Mind,
And Our Whole Strength!
Let Your Holy Word Be Written Deep Upon Our Hearts,
Bound upon Our Right Hands,
And as a Frontlet Between Our Eyes!
Let Your Promises in Your Word never Depart from Us,
Oh Father, for even when we murmur and are unfaithful,
YOU ARE FOREVER FAITHFUL
LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.
We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The process of posting this Thread every day is quite interesting. Because I am using a ten-year-old computer (the ORIGINAL MacMini on which this thread was born) and has an operating system that has never been updated in ten years, I construct and format the Thread in the exact way I did ten years ago, using the same HTML template. In other words, in posting this thread every day (with some brief pauses for widowhood and hurricanes) I have learned to CODE (LOL). I really don't care if the rest of the computer world has passed me by, because my ten-year-old operating system has served this Thread, the Faithful Prayer Warriors, and me, very well. Now I am telling you this because it relates well to Today's Psalm and our continuing theme of Music in the Bible.
Yesterday morning, as I prepared Today's Thread, coding as usual, formatting the Psalm to fit into the template, and checking my work, I noticed that Psalm 99 is set up exactly like a "pop" song, as I would write it. In English translation, particularly the NIV, the arrangement of two stanzas, a bridge, and another stanza even LOOKS like a song up there on the screen. To reinforce the comparison, all three stanzas end with the same line, which in modern songs would be called "The Hook". And what a Hook it is!
HE IS HOLY.
In Hebrew, the Psalm is symmetrical, having four equal verses of three lines each. It is an awesome Hymn to the Holiness of God, and is arranged in 7's, which is the Hebrew number of Completeness.
The awesome image of the Lord, enthroned among the Cherubim, in splendor and majesty, recalls The Prophet Isaiah's Vision in Isaiah 6, Ezekiel's vision in chapter 1, and the whole Book of Revelation, envisioned by St. John of Patmos.
And, just like John's Vision, this Psalm has lots of 7's.
Seven Times we read "The Lord".
Seven times we have a special pronoun in the Hebrew referring to God.
As I mentioned, there are four stanzas of three lines each which is also a variant of seven.
One more thing I noticed. The three-fold "Hook" (HE IS HOLY) is a forerunner of many ancient Christian Liturgies. (The Kyrie and "Holy Holy Holy", which appears in Isaiah and Revelation and more), so this Psalm has influenced Church Music much more than people realize.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)
