  • Supreme Court Authorizes Trump to Deny Asylum to Central Americans

    The Wall Street Journal ^ | Sept. 11, 2019
The Trump administration can deny asylum to Central Americans who cross through to the U.S., the Supreme Court said Wednesday, giving new life to White House efforts to deter a flood of immigrants seeking refuge at the southern border. The policy, one of several measures the Trump administration has taken to deter immigration from Latin America, demands that refugees seek asylum in a safe country they enter before reaching the U.S. The rules effectively cut off most asylum claims by people coming from El Salvador, Guatemala or Honduras. Justice Sonia Sotomayor, joined by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, filed a dissent.
  • Condoleezza Rice shuts down NBC anchor's question on whether Russia helped Trump win

    Fox News ^ | 9/11/2019 | Sam Dorman
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told an NBC anchor Wednesday it was not accurate to suggest that Russia flipped the 2016 election in President Trump's favor. "I don’t think there is any evidence of that. And, you know, I really don’t think that’s a good conversation to have," she told NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie. Guthrie had just asked whether Russian interference "actually worked" and blocked a victory by former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. "I think that really does devalue the people in Wisconsin and Michigan and others who decided to vote for President Trump," Rice added in her...

Maybe it is because I feel as if I owe my life to the brave passengers on United Flight 93 — if indeed that plane-turned-weapon was directed towards the U.S. Capitol. Or maybe it is because for my friends from Sudan/South Sudan, both Christian and Muslim, “9/11 was 24/7…and 365.” After all, I was at the Rayburn House Office Building that morning, waiting to begin a press conference on why there should be capital market sanctions against companies that did business with the Islamic Republic of Sudan because of Sudan’s connections to terrorism. Terrorism! Hah! We didn’t have a CLUE...

The counsel representing former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn laid out a series of  reasons in a letter in late August as to why her client will not testify or submit more documentation to Chairman Adam Schiff’s House Intelligence Committee’s ongoing investigations into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential elections. The letter obtained by SaraACarter.com reveals the extent of cooperation Flynn has already given to the committee, which Flynn’s attorney Sidney Powell said “is so unreasonable and unethical, we are copying Chairman Schiff and Ranking Member Nunes. Perhaps the Committee will decide to exercise better judgment.”“Your demand that he appear at a hearing merely to assert the...

Former National Security Advisor Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn’s defense attorney filed a motion Wednesday to compel the government to turn over a trove of documents, recordings, internal texts, emails and notes that the defense believes will vindicate Flynn, while at the same time revealing the ‘egregious’ behavior of government prosecutors.Defense attorney Sidney Powell filed the motion unsealed to U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan on Wednesday. The motion was originally filed on August 30, and is requesting that the court compel the government to deliver the Brady Material pursuant to the court’s scheduling order yesterday. The motion also reveals that Flynn took a polygraph in...

As construction continues at Fuel Total Systems’ new $60.9 million manufacturing plant in Mt. Pleasant, the maker of fuel tanks for the automotive industry says it plans to begin production at the facility this December and is now looking for local employees. The more than 100,000 square foot new site located at Cherry Glen Industrial Park in Mt. Pleasant will serve as a base of operations for the Japanese auto components maker, supplying a new Toyota/Mazda plant in Huntsville, Alabama which is planned to begin production in 2021. One step forward, er, one step back. Nobody gets too far like that Microsoft's build 18362.356 (KB4515384) for its Windows 10 May 2019 Update (version 1903) rolled out on Tuesday with security improvements for Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, networking tech and input devices – and a CPU usage fix that, for some, has broken desktop search. The security tweaks address a variety of speculative execution side-channel vulnerabilities known as microarchitecture data sampling (MDS) for 32-bit x86 versions of Windows. Intel dealt with the CVEs at issue – CVE-2019-11091, CVE-2018-12126, CVE-2018-12127, CVE-2018-12130 – in May.The update, released concurrently with Build 17763.737 for...
  • Alabama companies are hiring more than 7,000 workers; Here’s how to apply

This week’s announcement of another auto supply plant in Alabama illustrates a pertinent fact: Multiple manufacturers are looking for workers here. Japan’s Vuteq announced Wednesday it will hire 200 workers for its first production location in Alabama, to be built near Huntsville’s Mazda-Toyota factory, currently under construction. But many other jobs - from automotive to aerospace - are available at the moment in Alabama. And it comes at a time when the state in July recorded its lowest unemployment rate and its highest number of people employed. About 2.1 million people currently have jobs in Alabama, and two of the...

The Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in Lynn, Massachusetts, was desecrated by unknown vandals with satanic and anarchistic symbolism. The mosaic icons of the Most Holy Theotokos and the Great Martyr George the Victorious were vandalized with an upside down Cross, a “Circle-A,” and the number of the beast. According to Father George Tsoukalas, the rector of the parish, the police and mayor of Lynn arrived on the scene and with great regret, declared that this shameful incident was not only against the church, but against the entire city of Lynn, as Romfea reported. “Somebody has got a sick...

Establishment media outlets like The Washington Post hyped a now-disputed study that linked President Donald Trump’s campaign rallies to a spike in hate crimes, but they’ve yet to cover a second study that debunked the first one. The first study, which three Texas university professors conducted, said counties that hosted Trump rallies in 2016 saw a 226% spike in hate crimes compared to places that didn’t host Trump rallies. Harvard University researchers found the political scientists had gotten it wrong when they tried to replicate the study. “The study is wrong, and yet journalists ran with it anyway,” Harvard researchers Matthew Lilley...

Churches and gathering points in Shenyang have been sealed off as Catholics fear for the underground church's future Zhao, an underground church member in northeast China, is over 70 years old and has difficulty walking. To attend Mass, she sometimes has to get up very early and leave home without breakfast to catch three buses to reach the gathering point. "When I get up, I simply grab some food and eat on the way. If I finish eating before going out, I’ll be late. If I eat only after Mass, I would faint from hunger," Zhao told ucanews.com. This does...

ROME - On a day remembered for the terrorist attacks against the United States, Pope Francis met with members of a committee of Muslim leaders and Vatican officials promoting a new era of dialogue and world peace. The first meeting of the committee working to fulfill the goals of the “Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together” was held Sept. 11 in the Vatican residence where the pope lives. “The date was chosen as a sign of the will to build life and fraternity where others sowed death and destruction,” said a communique by the Vatican press...

HOUSTON — The Trump administration announced Wednesday that new immigration courts in tents on the Texas border with Mexico will be closed to legal observers, the media and the public. Immigration lawyers condemned the restrictions as a violation of the due process rights of asylum-seekers. Federal contractors built the two massive tents along the Rio Grande in the cities of Brownsville and Laredo this summer at a cost of $25 million. The so-called “port courts” were designed to host hearings for the more than 42,000 asylum-seekers who were returned to Mexico while their cases proceed under the Trump administration’s “Remain...
  • Senate Demands Pastors Reject Biblical Counseling For LGBT Californians

Last week, the California Senate gave party-line approval to Assembly Concurrent Resolution 99, a resolution demanding people of faith in the state change how they teach, preach, and counsel others related to LGBT identities and behaviors. Authored by Assemblyman Evan Low (D-San Jose), ACR 99 condemns pastors, counselors, and religious workers who offer compassionate support to the fellow Californians struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction or gender identity confusion. Most shockingly, ACR 99 goes so far as to blame the so-called “stigmatizing beliefs” of these individuals and organizations for the high rates of depression and suicide in the LGBT community. The...

Priests and religious leaders face up to three years jail in Victoria if they don't report child physical and sexual abuse allegations, including misconduct disclosed during confession. Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews declared no one was above the law after new legislation passed the state parliament on Tuesday night after getting the green light from the Legislative Assembly. “There’s been some controversy in recent weeks and months about churches, particularly the Catholic Church, we believe this is exactly what needed to happen,” he told reporters on Wednesday. “The seal of the confessional, no one, no politician, no priest … has any...
