The Minneapolis Police Department has arrested more than a dozen suspects involved in crime ring that focused on robbing cellphones from intoxicated people and then beating the victims.
According to a report provided by Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder, a three-day sweep conducted two weeks ago ended with police arresting 16 people between the ages of 13 and 25. The suspects are seen on surveillance video punching, kicking and riding over one man with a bike.
The robberies occurred near Hennepin, First and Second avenues, between Third and Sixth streets, and happened between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m.
The suspects were mostly boys and men, with a female sometimes present. They would "finesse" the victim looking for an easy target, such as someone who was intoxicated and alone, looking at their cellphone at times. Elder said half of the assailants are juveniles.
One of the incidents happened on Aug. 3 near Target Field. According to the criminal complaint, the footage shows approxiamtely 12 males attempting to take a cellphone from a male victim, viciously beating him. The suspects are seen ripping the victim's shoes and pants off and then going through his pockets. The victim is noted to be punched and kicked in the head several times throughout the altercation. At one point, the complaint states the victim is thrown to the ground left motionless then repeatedly jumped on, hit with planting pots and ridden over with a bicycle. Once police arrive, the victim and all suspects involved are gone.

What you're seeing here is real. I suspect it happens in more urban downtowns that we realize. This was was so brazen that the perps did it broad daylight - not at night.
And the perps? Well yeah, they're the usual suspects.
Comments or opinions - anyone.
That’s “Pound on whitey.” Been going on non stop since the 1960’s in our “urban” areas.
Smash and grab. Happens frequently. Predictable results from a culture devalues accountability for one’s actions.
I don’t go anywhere without a gun anymore.
Gave up drinking years ago.
Interferes with situational awareness.
This is why you carry. Not only carry, but carry something with more capacity than five or six rounds (yes, I’m referring to revolvers).
Guess we all know why comments are closed on that article.
Savages.
Gratuitous violence like this is a not smash and grab robbery. 12 on 1 should result in RICO charges and a long stretches in Federal Prison for the perps.
This is why I don’t do downtown Minneapolis.
Also why ilhan Omar and Keith Ellison run this city.
stop frequenting these minority hangouts and stop supporting those businesses.....stop paying for this....
“Not only carry, but carry something with more capacity than five or six rounds (yes, Im referring to revolvers).”
My revolver would have been adequate.
“Also why ilhan Omar and Keith Ellison run this city.”
Omar is only a mouth. She runs nothing.
You get what you vote for.
Will any of the perps do serious jail time and the juveniles be tried as adults? In Hennepin County..liberal la-la land I would be shocked if any of the hoodlums will even be prosecuted. Minnesota is fortunately a concealed carry state and one day these thugs will be left dead in the street. Downtown Minneapolis as well as St Paul are combat zones where gangs roam at will in large part do to the liberal loons running these cities
Stop by Cedar-Riverside and let me know what you see.
Who was the NYC subway vigilante shooter?
Bernard somebody?
Goetz.
“Thats Pound on whitey. Been going on non stop since the 1960s in our urban areas.”
But things have changed over the decades:
1) The media now REFUSES to report most of these crimes, since that could cause people to stereotype felons. So the supply of ‘willing customers’ for these felons continues (since they don’t know better). Also, the inner city governments and their rich supporters (of all races) don’t want people knowing the truth about these areas.
2) BUT - it cannot all be kept bottled-up, since the good guys now have cameras and can post on the web. So INFORMED people know enough to simply stay out of our no-go zones.
So a new kind of equilibrium now exists.
re: “Goetz”
That’s it. He had an answer for “the problem”.
IIRC, crime of that type took a significant dive after that.
I was watching the Nationals game (vs Minneapolis Twins) and the announcers were falling over themselves on what a nice, friendly city it is and how EVERYONE was cordial and helpful and recommend ALL visit if the opportunity opens up.
Granted their evenings are ‘tied up’ with thousands of people around, bus and uber etc so maybe not able to hit the ‘hot spots’....
I do think they said something about an underground ‘walking’ system downtown???
I imagine the perps were of scandinavian extraction, right?
