Like millions of other Americans, I’m exhausted. But I’m not tired from #Resisting or tired from screaming at a MAGA rally. I’m tired of the toxic tribalism infecting the very foundations of our democracy, straining our relationships, and poisoning our view of our fellow humans. I’m tired of everyone being outraged, getting worked up over the latest news cycle only to forget about it two hours later. Tired of being afraid to voice my own opinions, of knowing how saying the wrong thing at a barbecue while someone is filming on their iPhone could result in a nationwide clarion call...

Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union" that "both sides will lose" President Trump's trade war with China and that it is "a fool’s errand to think you’re going to be able to get China to change the fundamentals of their economic model by poking them in the eye with some tariffs."

Democrats who keep telling us that vote fraud is rare and insignificant fight like hell to make sure the evidence remains buried — even when there are obvious danger signs such as exists in Montgomery County, Maryland, where there are more registered voters than resident citizens. You might think officials would be anxious to find out why that is and would be eager to clean up their voter rolls. But Maryland officials fought in federal court to prevent Judicial Watch from obtaining voter data lists. And they got skunked. Judicial Watch announced that a federal court has ordered the State...

At least 10 Republican members of Congress are supporting Israel's decision to block Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from entering the country after Trump specifically requested it. On Thursday, Trump tweeted that it would be a sign of "great weakness" if Israel allowed the two congresswomen, who have been outspoken critics of Trump, to enter the country. Later that day, Israel officially blocked their entrance. "Israel’s denial of entry to Congresswomen Tlaib and Omar is a sign of weakness, and beneath the dignity of the great State of Israel," Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement. Most...

President Trump on Friday morning gloated that the Baltimore home of House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) had been burglarized. Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor who in December stepped down as Trump’s U.N. ambassador, did not approve. “This is so unnecessary,” she tweeted, along with a rolling-eyes emoiji.

Speed and red-light cameras are the bane of many motorists. A modern idea made possible by technology, they have been installed in at least 24 states. Although these cameras are a revenue boon for governments across the nation, their intrusion into daily life is disturbing, and their constitutionality is dubious. Specifically, use of these cameras could violate the Sixth Amendment. The Confrontation Clause grants criminal defendants the right to be confronted with the witnesses against them. Since it is a camera and not a person that witnessed the offense, such violations generally cannot be considered a criminal offense. The ticket...

After a North Carolina sheriff released an illegal immigrant on bond in a child rape case, former acting ICE Director Tom Homan said the law enforcement officer should have called the federal government and had the suspect detained. The suspect was finally apprehended by federal authorities, two months after Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden ignored an ICE detainer order and released him from custody. "Mecklenburg County wants to be a sanctuary county. This sheriff has made a choice to stop being a cop and be a politician," Homan said on "Fox & Friends Weekend." Homan said this is a common...

In the midst of the hot takes offered up by the 2020 Democrat candidates when the two anti-Semitic U.S. congresswomen were denied entry into Israel, the guy at the front of the pack was quickly reminded that former President Obama’s administration made a similar decision. Joe Biden posted a tweet meant to criticize the Israeli government’s decision. He said he is a supporter of Israel but no one should be denied entry into a democratic state over “ideas”. “No democracy should deny entry to visitors based on the content of their ideas”, he said. Joe Biden: I have always been...

HONG KONG (AP) — Protesters turned Hong Kong streets into rivers of umbrellas Sunday as they marched from a packed park and filled a major road in the Chinese territory, where mass pro-democracy demonstrations have become a regular weekend activity this summer. Organizers said they hoped the assembly would be peaceful, which would make for a rare calm weekend in a movement that has been marked by violent clashes with police. Law enforcement officers were keeping a low profile, with no riot police seen from the procession’s main routes. “We hope that there will not be any chaotic situations today,”...

When former Coast Guardsman Amanda Wolfe went to the emergency room because her appendix was about to burst in September 2016, she figured her insurance would cover the cost. She had two kinds of insurance — a private plan she paid for and her Veterans Affairs benefits. The emergency appendectomy went well and Wolfe made a speedy recovery. Her private insurance covered most of the more than $20,000 bill for her hospital stay. But six months later, the VA denied her claim for the roughly $2,500 that remained, putting her in an unexpected financial bind. She has been appealing ever...

Posted on August 17, 2019August 16, 2019 by Msgr. Charles Pope The Battle Is Engaged – Choose Sides! The readings this Sunday speak of a great cosmic battle that is taking place all around us. In the Gospel, Jesus speaks of it vividly and of his own mission to engage our ancient foe and to gather God’s elect back from the enslaving clutches of Satan, who was a murderer and a liar from the beginning (cf John 8:44).As Jesus approaches Jerusalem for the final time, He describes the battle that is about to unfold. It is a battle He...

A longtime donor of Joe Biden financed a second mortgage for the vice president's younger brother, James, worth $500,000, in order to pay for a Florida vacation home, adding yet another cloud of suspicion over whether the Biden family financially benefited from political connections. According to a Thursday Politico report, the Ukrainian American businessman John Hynansky, who has donated nearly six figures to the former vice president's campaigns over the years, in 2015 lent James Biden the half-million dollar sum for a Florida vacation home on an island only accessible by boat. That report echoes similarities to allegations that James...

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Saturday invoked the Holocaust while vowing to go to war against white nationalism and racism if he wins the 2020 presidential election. "I'm Jewish, my family came from Poland. My father's whole family was wiped out by Hitler and his white nationalism," Sanders said while speaking at the Young Leader's Conference in Atlanta. "Too many people have fought over the years, too many people have died against racism to let it resurface and flourish in America." "We will go to war with nationalism and racism in every aspect of our lives," Sanders added, before arguing...

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders told a group of people Saturday that if elected president in 2020, he will “go to war” with white nationalism and racism. Sanders said he would use every tool at his disposal, including executive orders. Speaking to a crowd of mostly African Americans at the Young Leaders Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Sanders described his family background as being Jewish and from Poland. “My father’s whole family was wiped out by Hitler and his white nationalism,” said Sanders, who is one of many Democratic presidential hopefuls in 2020. “Too many people have fought over the years, too...

Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) late Saturday suggested that viewers should boycott comedian Bill Maher’s late-night HBO show over his vehement criticism of the international movement to boycott Israel. Tlaib, who was denied entry to Israel last week over her support of the movement, said that she was "tired of folks discrediting a form of speech that is centered on equality and freedom." “This is exactly how they tried to discredit & stop the boycott to stand up against the apartheid in S. Africa,” Tlaib added. “It didn't work then and it won't now.” **SNIP** Omar and Tlaib, who became the...

The United States is working to help end Venezuela’s suffering under socialism. Earlier this month, President Trump imposed an embargo on Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro’s socialist regime, and last month the House of Representatives voted to grant Temporary Protected Status to Venezuelans in the U.S. Most of those voting in favor of TPS were Democrats, and unfortunately, most Republicans opposed the measure. The GOP is looking at this issue all wrong. Of course, it’s true that Democrats are pushing for TPS to gain popularity with Venezuelan Americans frightened by their increasingly socialist rhetoric. But, for Republicans, supporting TPS for Venezuelans...

In reaction to the mass shooting in El Paso earlier this month in which Hispanics were specifically targeted, members of that community “crowded into a class over the weekend to become certified to carry a concealed gun in public in Texas,” according to Reuters. They have deprived the Left of its bully pulpit militating against gun ownership, and all it took was these people exercising their Second Amendment Rights under the U.S. Constitution! The classes are just the tip of the iceberg: Michael McIntyre, general manager of Gun Central, one of the largest gun shops in El Paso and the...

And there are reports that he met with Never-Trump leader Bill Kristol on how to force President Trump off the ballot in 2020.

CNN steers softball interview carefully to give violent Antifa a new voice August 18, 2019 | Tom Tillison | Print Article SHARE1.2KTWEET14EMAIL (Screenshot from YouTube) Leave it to CNN to give voice to violent Antifa thugs in the wake of Saturday’s clash with right-wing protesters. The so called “anti-fascist” group embraces fascist tactics as they all but have the run of Portland streets, claiming to be preventing the very behavior they display in a city that has become ground zero for confrontations with those on the right who say they are taking a stand for free speech — that they...

Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., continue to speak out against President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the decision to bar them from visiting Israel last week, but now recent social media posts from the freshman congresswomen – part of the “Squad” that includes Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley -- include a political cartoon from an artist celebrated for his anti-Semitic imagery. Tlaib and Omar posted to their Instagram stories a cartoon which depicts Netanyahu silencing Tlaib by covering her mouth, and Trump doing the same to Omar, The Jewish Daily Forward’s Batya Ungar-Sargon...
