Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Friday announced a government-wide crackdown on leakers, which will include a review of the Justice Department’s policies on subpoenas for media outlets that publish sensitive information.

 At a press conference with Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, Sessions announced that the Justice Department, FBI and government intelligence agencies will direct more resources into the investigations of government leaks and would prioritize prosecuting those that pass sensitive information along to the press or foreign officials. Gov. Bruce Rauner today signed into law a bill declaring Aug. 4 “Barack Obama Day,” effective in 2018. Senate Bill 55 passed through both chambers of the General Assembly without a single dissenting vote. The bill would only make Aug. 4 an honorary holiday and not a legal holiday, unlike an earlier proposal. The first attempt to create Obama Day in the state failed in March by six votes in the House. The US attorney general has said four people have been charged over leaks as the Trump administration launched a crackdown on embarrassing disclosures. Bricks of marijuana were found in bags of charcoal shipped to grocery stores in the San Saba area this week. KWTX reports San Saba Police Department found six bricks of marijuana hidden inside a bag of Encino Brand charcoal at Lowe's Grocery store on Tuesday. A shopper also purchased the same brand of charcoal from the Lowe's Grocery in Mason, Texas, and found about a pound marijuana inside, according to the KWTX report.
