New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans owner Tom Benson may be bringing Dixie Beer back to the Big Easy after buying the 110-year-old iconic brand, but a local activist group is saying “not in my backyard.” Not long after the removal of the statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee at Lee Circle and three other monuments related to the Confederacy, Not In My Backyard NOLA, a lesser-known grassroots group, is now calling for the city to prohibit the brewery from once again taking root in New Orleans. “I thought we were past all this nonsense,” Not In My...

Early Thursday morning, President Trump teased a big announcement that would be made at his campaign rally in West Virginia later in the day. Like many things in Washington lately, the announcement leaked early and it was one liberals couldn’t stand: Jim Justice, the governor of the state, was changing his party affiliation from Democrat to Republican. It’s rare for sitting governors to change their party affiliation, but that didn’t matter to ABC’s World News Tonight and NBC Nightly News who ignored the news altogether. CBS was the only network in the Big Three to give the story any time....

As you know, Robert Mueller was appointed as special counsel to investigate the alleged meddling by Russia in the 2016 election. Since his appointment he has added a significant number of lawyers to his team- a lot of democrats: Today, the sixteenth member of his team, Greg Andres, reported for work. Andres, who worked most recently as a criminal defense attorney, previously served in the Obama Justice Department from 2010-12. In addition, according to The Daily Caller, Andres has donated at least $3,700 to federal Democratic candidates, including $2,700 to New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in March of this year. A Democratic congressional aide arrested by the FBI while trying to travel to Pakistan may have ties to terrorism, a Republican lawmaker suggested to the Justice Department. Former IT aide Imran Awan, who worked for Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz and about a dozen other Democratic lawmakers, has been accused of bank fraud for allegedly obtaining a loan "for a rental property he does not own" and then sending the money to Pakistan. Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., thinks that money could pose a national security problem. "While we can never tolerate breaches of the public trust, the wire transfer to...

Part II — As it may become As the rhythms of the seasons change, so also do the rhythms of human affairs. When culturally homogenous societies are destabilised by invasive parasites and predators, those societies swiftly atrophy and inevitably disappear into an encroaching darkness, where dawn remains but a hope beyond an unseen horizon, where the night people are well about and yet to be put to the sword. There is found the formative crucible within which men and women, bound by strength and tradition, gather together and stand firm against the onset of barbarism. But this response can only...

America has added more than a million jobs since President Trump took office. The U.S. economy added a strong 209,000 jobs in July, more than economists had expected. The unemployment rate fell to 4.3%, matching a 16-year low. Just after the Great Recession in 2009, unemployment peaked at 10%. "The economy is looking pretty good," said Cathy Barrera, chief economic adviser at ZipRecruiter, the job posting site.

The 'Full Frontal' host went to Iraqi Kurdistan and found a family who calls their baby son "Trump." Samantha Bee traveled to the Kurdistan region of Iraq and unexpectedly stumbled upon a slew of Trump fans. "They love Trump," Bee said in surprise, after speaking to multiple Kurds about the current president. “Are we in the middle of making Samantha Bee’s first, and probably last ever, Trump-positive field piece?” she asked. Bee said many of the people she interviewed appreciated Trump because he directly armed the Kurds to fight against ISIS. She was still doubtful, wondering aloud if the Kurds...

There was an article in the Summer 2017 issue of "Good Medicine" that suggested removing SNAP ("food stamp" replacement) program eligibility for sweetened beverages, desserts, red meat, cheese, salty snacks, candy and sugar for health reasons. I support such SNAP eligibility removals, except for red meat or cheese. I'm not so sure that red meat or cheese should be removed from SNAP eligibility since so much of American agricultural land is only suitable for raising red meat/dairy product animals. That issue in "Good Medicine" also reported on the MIND diet to reduce Alzheimer's risk. The MIND diet was also reported...

Pat Manuel’s half-hour runs along the quiet, tree-lined streets of Altadena are only partly about exercise. Mainly they’re a time to reflect on the journey that has brought him here, one that was a lot longer and bumpier than the hilly roads on which he runs.(snip) Manuel says the biggest daily reminder that he has finally taken control of his life comes when he looks in the mirror each morning. For years he saw an uncertain woman looking back at him. Now the reflection is of a confident young man, the Adam’s apple and scruffy facial hair evidence that while...

For the arrival of his second attempt at environmental agitprop the former Vice President has increased the Eleven years after winning the Academy Award for his “documentary” (ahem) film Al Gore returns today triumphantly to… Erm, no. Gore revisits his monumentally respected — … nope, that’s not it either. Gore continues to authoritatively lead the climate change movement as the — Stop it. Let’s just say it like it is: Al Gore attempts to further cash in with his Chicken Little doomsday palaver with another film promising spurious “science”. His original film “An Inconvenient Truth” first became the touchstone piece...

An online story about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton suffering not just one heart attack, but three, is a fake news story concocted by a parody site run by a liberal troll. "Breaking: Hillary Clinton has third heart attack — docs says she ‘won’t survive’," read the headline on a July 28, 2017, post on PoliticsPaper.com. Facebook users flagged the post as being potentially fabricated, as part of the social media site’s efforts to combat fake news. The article called Clinton the "Butcher of Benghazi" and quoted Dr. Eugene Icsa of Westchester Memorial Hospital in upstate New York as...

North Korea could soon develop a hydrogen bomb more powerful than the atomic bombs dropped on Japan By Harry J. Kazianis Published August 04, 2017 Fox News A Defense Department official I spoke to recently on the condition of not revealing his name told me it now appears the North Koreans are working to finish development of an H-bomb, and that they could succeed in as soon as six to 18 months. Such a bomb would be many times more powerful than the atomic bombs the United States dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan that led to the end...

There’s hot, and then there’s Death Valley hot. While Southern California and much of the West cooked in July under a pair of heat waves that killed livestock, knocked out power and encouraged wildfires, nowhere was the heat more brutally enduring than in Death Valley. According to the National Weather Service, Death Valley National Park broke its 100-year-old record for the hottest month ever in July, when the average temperature was 107.4 degrees, eclipsing the 1917 record of 107.2 degrees. Though 107 degrees doesn’t sound that bad, keep in mind the average includes nighttime temperatures. The average overnight temperature in...

Etiology of Alien Derangement Syndrome August 2, 2017 | David F. Coppedge With no evidence for their invisible friends, believers in space aliens are losing their minds. Are they setting themselves up for mass deception? Another mystery signal from space has been solved, Phys.org announces. Bad news: It’s not aliens. This has become a common scenario: believers get excited about the possibility of a signal from their imaginary friends (6/15/17), only to find out there’s a natural explanation, and the alien-of-the-gaps explanation gets narrower. The case of the “Weird!” signal from dim star Ross 128 was admittedly a long shot,...
