With no evidence for their invisible friends, believers in space aliens are losing their minds. Are they setting themselves up for mass deception?
Another mystery signal from space has been solved, Phys.org announces. Bad news: It’s not aliens. This has become a common scenario: believers get excited about the possibility of a signal from their imaginary friends (6/15/17), only to find out there’s a natural explanation, and the alien-of-the-gaps explanation gets narrower. The case of the “Weird!” signal from dim star Ross 128 was admittedly a long shot, but hopes ran high:

I’ve got bad news for the author.

So it seems to me by the condescending tone of the article that either they are trying to be sarcastic or they actually believe that of the 4 billion stars in our galaxy and the 4 billion galaxies (that is a lot of zeroes) that we can see, that there is not one star that has one planet with life on it?

There is so far, zero evidence to support any other conclusion.

This is too rich. A religious bunch labeling other people as deluded because they have “their invisible friends.”

As my housemate used to note, there’s several ways to fill-in the blank realistically. Some of his used to be overly graphic. It’s also a truism that someone with an experience needs never be at the mercy of someone with merely an argument—particularly a poorly thought-out, poorly researched bunch of uninformed blather.
Milton Friedman with caustic wit shreds such calculations easily. There are too many unknowns to make such equations remotely realistic or even logical.
