David Cameron is to set out a string of new powers to tackle radicalisation, saying the UK has been a "passively tolerant society" for too long. The PM will tell the National Security Council a counter-extremism bill will be in the Queen's Speech on 27 May. The bill will include new immigration rules, powers to close down premises used by extremists and "extremism disruption orders". Mr Cameron will say a "poisonous" extremist ideology must be confronted. The proposals were first set out by Home Secretary Theresa May before the general election. But the Conservatives were unable to secure the backing...

In the latest chapter of the left’s ongoing campaign to immortalize the grandfather clause of social justice, but more specifically to compensate America along racial lines, comes the politically convenient creation of “White Privilege”. Because the word “racism” obviously doesn’t denote enough singular intent to indict white America as the sole purveyors of hate, victimization has now evolved into blaming the pale subjects of suburbia as the greatest impetus for urban crime, poverty, civil unrest, and societal division. If “White Privilege” is truly designed to infer advantage or favoritism, then why did I grow up in a blue collar home,...

Three Palestinian Arab towns in western Samaria that are surrounded by Jewish communities and seemingly “cut off” from the rest of the the Palestinian Authority (PA) are actually doing quite well for themselves, according to a report by the PA-based Safa news agency cited by blogger Elder of Ziyon. The towns—Mas-ha, Qarawat Bani Hassan and Biddya—are bordered by Elkana on the west and Barkan on the east, and as the blogger notes, they form “islands of Arab brown among a sea of Jewish blue areas,” in a map provided by the pro-Palestinian B’tselem. While PA propaganda portrays Jewish settlements as...

On Sunday, Michigan state senator Virgil Smith (D-Detroit) was taken into custody for allegedly firing a rifle at his ex-wife’s car following an argument earlier that morning. [Editor’s note: contrary to early reports, the official police report states that Smith fired a rifle, not a shotgun, at his ex-wife’s vehicle, not his girlfriend’s. This article has been updated to reflect these changes. Also, the police report alleges that Smith was naked during the incident.]

Growing sea ice surrounding Antarctica could prompt scientists to consider relocating research stations on the continent, according to the operations manager of the Australian Antarctic Division. Rob Wooding said that resupplying Australia's Mawson Station -- the longest continuously operated outpost in Antarctica -- relied on access to a bay, a task increasingly complicated by sea ice blocking the way. "We are noticing that the sea ice situation is becoming more difficult," Wooding told a media briefing on Monday

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)A rogue group of subway vandals calling them the ‘Subway Conquestors’ is allegedly on a mission to attack the rail system. As CBS2’s Weijia Jiang reported, they can be seen in video footage sneaking into deserted stations at Canal and Bergen streets, and an underground construction zone at Ninth Avenue. Police sources believe they were responsible for an explosion in the Bronx, and have been linked to one at Brooklyn’s Nostrand Avenue station in April. In the Nostrand Avenue incident, police arrested Keyshawn Brown, 16, and accused him of placing a piece of metal on the tracks. “There are plenty...

Apparently, just being in certain rooms is a microaggression. According to a new report released by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, just “walking into or sitting in” a classroom full of white people is a microaggression in itself. “Students of color reported feeling uncomfortable and unwelcomed just walking into or sitting in the classroom, especially if they were the only person of color, or one of a few,” stated the report, which designated the experience a microaggression. “People do not necessarily say I do not belong, but I feel as if I do not when I am in a...

House Republican leaders are unlikely to allow amendments to the Senate-passed Iran bill, bucking a clutch of conservatives who wanted to change the language, according to multiple sources familiar with internal planning. The move all but assures passage of the legislation when it comes up for a House vote, probably on Thursday. It was approved by the Senate last week, 98-1. GOP leadership expects to discuss its plans at a closed-door party meeting Wednesday. Members of the House Freedom Caucus, led by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), are pushing for Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Majority...

TEL AVIV – A Palestinian previously convicted of multiple terrorism charges is the official currently leading the dialogue with a prestigious international soccer federation from which the Palestinian Authority is seeking to get Israel expelled. If the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, or FIFA, suspends or boots the Jewish state, the move would have a dramatic impact on Israel’s ability to compete in international soccer competitions. As part of a larger boycott movement against Israel, the PA’s Palestinian Soccer Association has filed a formal complaint with FIFA to have Israel’s membership suspended. The PA’s main complaint is that Israel does...

MENIFEE, Calif. (KABC) -- A man allegedly walked across the 215 Freeway in Menifee and stabbed an 18-month-old baby while his mother and several other family members attempted to change a flat tire on their disabled vehicle early Monday, California Highway Patrol officials said. The family-of-five pulled over on the right shoulder of the northbound 215 Freeway, just south of Newport Road, at about 1:20 a.m. Monday to change a flat tire on their 1990 Mazda hatchback. That's when 44-year-old Nicolas Lopez Garcia, who was walking along the opposite side of the freeway, crossed all lanes of traffic toward the...

A group of House conservatives is pressuring GOP leadership to allow the chance to “strengthen” a Senate-passed bill imposing congressional review over a proposed nuclear deal with Iran. Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus are proposing a series of amendments because some believe the Senate bill does not give Congress enough power to actually stop—or even influence—an Iran nuclear deal lawmakers don’t like. The amendments will put pressure on House Speaker John Boehner, who must decide to either block attempts to change the legislation—as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., did in his chamber—or allow debate that could derail...

Washington (AFP) - The state of Texas executed a man convicted in the triple murder of his girlfriend, her mother and her grandfather, officials said. Derrick Charles, 32, was put to death by lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville at 6:36 pm (2236 GMT), according to spokesman Jason Clark. His last words before being injected with the lethal drugs were "I'm ready to go home," Clark said. The US Supreme Court earlier on Tuesday denied a last minute appeal by the condemned man, allowing the execution to proceed. Charles was just 19 at the time of the murders,...

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — As the Republican National Committee convenes its spring meeting in this resort city, conservative activists fearful of getting stuck with another moderate candidate in 2016 are gathering 2,300 miles away to plot strategies to engineer the presidential nomination to their liking. Representatives of some 40 conservative groups plan to meet Wednesday at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in the Washington suburb of McLean, Virginia, where they will air their fears of having the nomination process hijacked by establishment Republicans and wrestle over different strategies to turn the primaries and caucuses to their advantage. Their goal is to avoid ending...

I am doing a paper for my college health class about Euthanasia and the right to die, and I am supposed to discuss Terri Schiavo's situation. My textbook doesn't give much information and the information that is given paints her parents as horrible for wanting to keep her alive "against her wishes". While I was pretty young when this situation occurred, I have heard snippets here and there over the years and the whole situation seems fishy. I tried Googling information, and all I come up with Wikipedia and MSM articles talking about her "right to die". Does someone have...
