  • Hillary Clinton’s Appeal Survives Scrutiny, Poll Says

Hillary Rodham Clinton appears to have initially weathered a barrage of news about her use of a private email account when she was secretary of state and the practices of her family’s foundation, an indication that she is starting her second presidential bid with an unusual durability among Democratic voters. Americans now view Mrs. Clinton more favorably and more see her as a strong leader than they did earlier in the year, despite weeks of scrutiny about her ethics, a New York Times/CBS News poll has found. And nearly nine in 10 Democrats say the nation is ready to elect...

The nation’s first black President has so poorly served the interests of the African-American population that they are worse off today Commenting on the rioting in Baltimore, the Wall Street Journal’s Daniel Henniger was almost to the end of his April 30 text when he said “On Wednesday morning, the year’s first-quarter GDP growth rate came in—0.02%. Next to nothing. For the length of the Obama presidency, with growth significantly below norm, unemployment for blacks aged 24 and younger has hovered between 30% and 40%. That’s the real powder key, not the police.” Most Americans do not put the state...

It is already clear that Marilyn Mosby, the state’s attorney who is prosecuting the Baltimore Six is not up to the responsibilities of her job. The only questions are: 1. how deeply incompetent?; and 2. what consequences will result from her bungling? The second question is the more important one, for Mosby has set up her prosecution as a response to the “No justice, no peace” movement. If and when she fails to secure a conviction through her ineptitude, then by the standard of the mob to which she is catering, more riots will be justifiable, and therefore the likely...
  • Smoggy thinking on pollution

The war on hydrocarbon fuels is based on two feeble legs – “it causes global warming, and it creates pollution.”

Both legs are unsound, especially the pollution claims.

No sensible person approves of pollution of air, water, land, or public places by humans.

Have a look at some real pollution.
But no pollution whatsoever is caused by the main product of the combustion of hydrocarbons, carbon dioxide. This is a colorless, non-toxic gas of life on which all plants (and animals) depend.

In these days of carbon neurosis, coal power gets blamed for all bad things, even the Asian Smog.

Perla Alvarez, the Associated Students of the University of Oregon’s (ASUO) “Multicultural Advocate,” believes that eating a burrito on Cinco de Mayo, as well as other things such as eating guacamole, is “cultural appropriation” of Mexican culture. She begins her letter to Oregon’s student newspaper by writing, “It’s “Cinco de Mayo!” Yay for some of you who want to party! However, it sucks for those of us who do not celebrate this day and have to witness you appropriating our culture.” Despite the fact that most colleges in the United States push for more diversity and understanding of cultures, Ms....

In the “fairness” that the left love to apply to everything, it is not really fair to say Geller won the argument. Camerota doesn’t know enough to be able understand what the argument was In its infancy, television was commonly referred to as “the boob tube,” and it was fashionable for the elites to deny they ever watched it. How television was viewed changed when John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. Decades before 24/7 cable news networks emerged, the big three US networks, CBS, NBC, and ABC dropped their regularly scheduled programming and provided continuous coverage of the aftermath...

On Sept. 27, 2014, a team of U.S. Special Operations troops were dropped into a volatile village in Afghanistan’s Helmand province. The U.S. military had withdrawn thousands of troops from the country in the previous year, and the mission called for 14 Americans and about 24 Afghan commando counterparts to clear a bazaar of weapons and insurgents, and then get out. It turned into a fight for their lives, three U.S. Special Operations airmen involved in the battle recalled Tuesday. The insurgents, numbering close to 100, sprung a fierce attack in which they not only launched a barrage of fire...

Toss government propaganda out to the curb on the next garbage day. Recognize reality for what it is without the government spin It’s time for small-c conservatives to drop the in-fighting and to energize the fight that matters: fighting for survival in a world going socialist. Who says so? Commonsense. The commonsense nurtured in today’s generation by their forbears, stored in the indomitable spirit of small-c conservatives, the only stores of it left in an upside-down world. As anyone can tell you, things are getting depressing out there, and it‘s going to get a lot worse before it gets better....

UPDATE: Bosch Fawstin wrote this on Twitter: “Despite a Dishonest Wall Street Journal headline story saying I’ve gone into hiding b/c I’ve gotten death threats, I’ve Not gone into hiding” What I wrote in the original post below about the craven capitulation of the media is only underscored by this. The headline above has been adjusted. Here is the original post: Here again, the media will say, Welll…he had it coming…he shouldn’t have provoked them…he should have stuck to some respectable art form like sticking a crucifix in a jar of urine… What the opinionmakers on both the Left and...

Full Title: ISIS seems to threaten anti-Muslim blogger Pamela Geller in message boasting of ‘71 trained soldiers in 15 different states’ ISIS appears to declare war on anti-Muslim blogger Pamela Geller on Tuesday in an ominous online message claiming it has fighters across America ready to attack "any target we desire." The threat, posted on anonymous message board JustPasteIt, singles out Geller, who helped plan a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest that was attacked by two gunmen in Garland, Texas, over the weekend. ISIS claimed responsibility for the shooting early Tuesday, marking the first time the terror group called an American...

RUSH: Let me get to Marilyn Mosby here in just a second. I don't want to jump the gun on this. By that I mean jump the gun on my analysis. Let me just tell you what I think is a point that a lot of people are overlooking. Now, my buddy Andrew McCarthy has written about this case, the prosecutor and how he learned of it. He learned of the charges before he saw her speech, her press conference. And he said when you see, as he did, the press conference after you have learned this never-ending list of...

Republican U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis will announce Wednesday that he's running for the Senate seat Marco Rubio is giving up to seek the GOP presidential nomination. Two advisers close to DeSantis confirmed his plans to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because the announcement has not been made public yet. DeSantis, a favorite among conservative political groups, was elected in 2012 and overwhelmingly re-elected last year. He is a former member of the Navy Judge Advocate General 's Corps who was deployed to Iraq in 2007. He will enter the race by releasing a statement, the advisers said....
  • A Florida Couple is Busted for ‘Sex on the Beach.’ The Judge’s Sentence Could Be a Mind-Blowing One.

A couple in Florida attracted quite a bit of attention last summer, when a video of them having the often-cliched “sex on the beach” made its way to YouTube for all to see. A description of the explicit video was provided by WFLA: The couple didn’t hold back. Bold and brazen with their bodies, they were grinding in full view. Bradenton Beach Police were called, and the couple was eventually arrested. The indecent encounter was captured by a sunbathing great-grandmother on her iPhone. There are claims even a three-year-old saw the couple. On Monday, the couple appeared before a judge....

Neighborhoods matter. That’s the upshot of two fascinating new studies from Harvard economist Raj Chetty and his colleagues. In the 1990s, the federal government launched an experiment, called the Moving to Opportunity project. It created a lottery for housing vouchers that would allow the winners to move out of high-poverty neighborhoods into low-poverty ones. The project’s initial findings were a disappointment for people — like me — who argue that culture matters quite a lot. It did find that neighborhood poverty was a big factor in determining economic mobility, but researchers saw little evidence that getting poor people out of...
  • As Russia votes down a pro-life bill, the nation’s pro-life movement remains hopeful

MOSCOW, May 5, 2015 (LifeSiteNews.com) –A bill to defund abortions on demand failed miserably in the Russian Duma late last month, but pro-life leaders such as Dmitry Baranov of the Warriors for Life have not given up hope. Politics are different in Russia, and the bill's striking defeat – only 11 deputies out of 450 voted for it – reflects not so much the will of the Duma, nor the government led by Prime Minister Dimitry Medvedev, but the circumstances of the day. “We should understand that the deputies in Russia are not independent and the decisions are not made...

Because it’s important to know what’s going on in your kitchen, we all need a good snitch. And since the NSA, despite all their resources, recording all of our calls, emails and tweets and tracking us with our cell phones GPS, don’t seem able to provide that service even when they’re holding all the clues, I think that I should help out. To that end, I feel I should provide this old report from The Washington Times that reported who was pooping in Ferguson’s kitchen: There’s a solitary man at the financial center of the Ferguson protest movement. No, it’s not...

Hillary Clinton was in Nevada yesterday, talking to Hispanics on Cinco de Mayo about immigration reform, pushing amnesty and a path to citizenship. You can watch the C-Span video here. Note her awkwardness when she's reading her prepared remarks. And she doesn't seem very comfortable in front of her audience. Beyond that, Clinton has spent the last couple of weeks shoring up her base of support in the black and Hispanic communities. She will win both of those groups, but unless she can turn them out in numbers approaching those of President Obama, she will be in big trouble.

BERLIN — German authorities conducted raids across the country on Wednesday, seizing explosives and arresting four people accused of founding a right-wing extremist group to attack mosques and housing for asylum seekers. Police arrested three men and a woman accused of leading the group during raids by some 250 investigators on homes in Saxony and four other states, the federal prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
