Members of the Supreme Court questioned on Tuesday whether now is the right time to force states to allow same-sex couples to marry, pointing to how quickly public opinion has shifted on the issue of marriage equality. Justice Anthony Kennedy, who was a key figure in striking down the Defense of Marriage Act in 2013, suggested that he might be worried about the court moving too quickly to force states to marry same-sex couples. “This definition has been with us for millennia,” Kennedy said of male-female marriages. The justice also said it would be very difficult for the court to...

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, appearing at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Spring Kickoff on Saturday, made it clear that he will not allow religious liberty bullies to run rampant in his state. Referring to the recent events surrounding Indiana’s Religious Liberty Restoration Act, Jindal said corporate America teamed up with the radical left “to come after our religious liberty rights.” Jindal warned, “Corporate America needs to be careful because the same radical left that doesn’t want us to have religious liberty rights does not want us to have economic liberty rights. The same radical left that doesn’t want us...

It’s a question that requires little thought to answer; are you infallible? It ranks right up there with, “Are you God?” But to Catholic apologists the question is quite serious; that’s because they believe that there is a man on earth who, on the subject of faith and morals, is infallible; they call him, “holy father.” See, it does rank right up there with, “Are you God,” at least when coming from people who think their leader is equal with God on deciding issues of faith and morals. According to Catholic apologist, John Martignoni, this question should cause Protestants to...

In a letter obtained by Foreign Policy, two Democratic members of Congress are urging the Obama administration to ban a Dutch lawmaker from entry into the United States due to his controversial views on Islam. The Dutch lawmaker, Geert Wilders, is scheduled to speak at a reception on Capitol Hill this month at the invitation of Tea Party firebrand Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas). In recent years, Wilders has become internationally famous for his bombastic broadsides against Islam, which include calls to ban the Koran in the Netherlands and to arrange for the removal of Moroccan immigrants from his country. In...

There’s lots of red ink on green energy projects receiving government loan guarantees.  The Government Accountability Office has a new estimate of the cost of loans and loan guarantees issued by the federal government under a 2005 law, and it adds up to $.2 billion. Stephen Dinan of the Washington Times reports: “As of November 2014, DOE estimates the credit subsidy cost of the loans and loan guarantees in its portfolio — that is, the total expected net cost over the life of the loans — to be $2.21 billion, including $807 million for loans that have defaulted,†the...

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Are they clever ads with a play on words, or are they just outright sexually-explicit? A valley store's new billboards are at the center of controversy, and Valley Metro has already pulled them off their trains. The ads are nothing new; chances are you've seen them on trucks or billboards around Phoenix. The owner of My Sister's Closet said she entered into an advertising agreement, the ads were approved, so she was stunned when the ads were abruptly pulled. "Wanted: One Night Stand, Buy a Bigger Chest, Make a Booty Call," my sister's closet thought these ads...

The Supreme Court will hear arguments today that could lead to a constitutional right for gays to marry. Many court watchers believe it's a done deal already. In addition to the 4 liberal judges, Justice Anthony Kennedy has already ruled with the majority 3 times against maintaining a ban on same sex marriage. He would appear to be the 5th vote that would make gay marriage the law of the land. But nothing is certain, which is why some observers believe that Chief Justice John Roberts may be a pivotal vote on the question of same sex marriage. New...

On Thursday, April 23, a federal jury convicted a naturalized U.S. citizen and former Iranian national of violations of U.S. export and money laundering laws, arising from his involvement in a scheme to purchase marine navigation equipment and military electronic equipment for illegal export to, and end-use in, Iran, announced Assistant Attorney General for National Security John P. Carlin and U.S. Attorney Laura E. Duffy of the Southern District of California. Arash Ghahreman, 45, of Staten Island, New York, was convicted of attempted export to Iran, and conspiracy to do the same, in violation of the Iran Trade Embargo (formerly...

(Reuters) - Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television said an Iranian "force" seized a U.S. cargo ship after opening fire on it in the Gulf on Tuesday and directed it to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. A Pentagon spokesman said Iranian forces had boarded a Marshall Island-flagged vessel, the MV Maersk Tigris, in the Gulf. He said the boarding occurred after Iranian patrol boats fired shots across the vessel's bow and ordered it deeper into Iranian waters. The ship had no U.S. citizens aboard, the spokesman said, contradicting Al-Arabiya's report which said there were 34 U.S. sailors on board. He said...

Sen. Bob Corker is holding up a much-awaited GOP budget deal, barring Republican leadership and top budget negotiators Monday night from filing the agreement that was weeks in the making, his office confirmed to POLITICO. The Tennessee Republican said on Tuesday it was because of “policy issues on the budget” but would not elaborate. His refusal to sign on to the deal stops the agreement for the time being. Budget negotiators had wanted to announce the deal Monday night. Corker’s vote is needed to advance the fiscal blueprint, which GOP leadership hopes to pass this week before the House goes...

During his interview with Diane Sawyer that aired on Friday night, Bruce Jenner revealed that he’s questioned his gender identity his whole life, that he’s considered suicide, and that he took hormones for the first time in the 1980s — about 30 years ago and before he decided to marry his most recent wife, Kris Jenner. But nothing shocked the public quite like his admission that he — gasp! — thinks the Constitution is important! The subject of politics came up after Sawyer asked him how he felt about Obama being the first president to use the word “transgender”...

"The no-nonsense Vietnam vet who stepped in front of the police line and shamed Baltimore rioters into going home" 'Just a soldier.' That's how Vietnam veteran Robert Valentine identified himself after he stood up to young rioters in Baltimore and shamed them for how they were behaving in the wake of Freddie Gray's death. Valentine ignored the rocks and bottles whizzing through the night air on Monday and told a group of rioters to go away and head home after stepping in front or a police line. The vet's heroic actions did not go unnoticed and CNN's Joe Johns spoke...

Ted Cruz, R-Texas, released the following statement in response to the riots in Baltimore: "Today 85,000 Baltimore city children will not be going to school. Buildings have been set ablaze, stores have been looted, the police in the streets have been seriously injured, and strict curfews have been imposed. "No man, woman, or child should fear for his or her safety in America--not in their schools, not in their neighborhoods, not in their cities--but today families are scared.
