Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, appearing at the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalitions Spring Kickoff on Saturday, made it clear that he will not allow religious liberty bullies to run rampant in his state.
Referring to the recent events surrounding Indianas Religious Liberty Restoration Act, Jindal said corporate America teamed up with the radical left to come after our religious liberty rights. Jindal warned, Corporate America needs to be careful because the same radical left that doesnt want us to have religious liberty rights does not want us to have economic liberty rights. The same radical left that doesnt want us to have religious liberty rights wants to tax and regulate these companies out of existence. They think profit is a dirty word.
An impassioned Jindal acknowledged that activists and corporate interests were successful in bullying Indiana leaders, But Ive got news for them, he said. Weve got legislation in Louisiana. Weve already got a Religious Freedom Act. Weve got legislation this session to protect people of faith and of conscience who hold the traditional view of marriage and they might as well save their breath because corporate America is not going to bully the governor of Louisiana when it comes to religious liberty. The crowd at the conservative event erupted in applause.
They need to understand there is no freedom of speech or freedom of association without religious liberty, Jindal continued. He said he believes it is possible to both have religious liberty and end discrimination but its important to understand that religious liberty means being able to live our lives, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week according to our faith, according to our conscience, according to our beliefs.
Thank-you and God Bless you Gov. Jindal.
People here in Louisiana have turned on Bobby. I think they have forgotten what kathleen Bubblehead Balnkstare did for this state before he got in office.
They all expect to be last in line when the bolshevik crocodile comes to eat. ‘Til then, they expect to live well while feeding others to the croc.
I’ll take “what’s a commie” for $100, Bob
I really like this guy. He has heart felt principles and is willing to stand up for them. I think he might make a really good VP and someday, President.
The people of Louisiana need to be thankful for his leadership. Their last governor was a disaster.
That’s exactly what I thought of, that crocodile saying, and big business’ hope to be last by feeding the rest of us to the anti-freedom forces.
"The error seems not sufficiently eradicated that the operations of the mind as well as the acts of the body are subject to the coercion of the laws. But our rulers can have authority over such natural rights only as we have submitted to them. The rights of conscience we never submitted, we could not submit. We are answerable for them to our God. The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia Q.XVII, 1782. ME 2:221
I’m Sen. Cruz through and through- But, Gov. Jindal gave the speech of the night.
