Many haven't been able to hear Art's show as they could not pay for Sirius radio so Art tried to get Sirius radio to cut a deal with Sirius for the show be free as it aired. Only the night it aired. Americans who face higher insurance costs under President Obama’s health-care law are angrily complaining about “sticker shock,” threatening to become a new political force opposing the law even as the White House struggles to convince other consumers that they will benefit from it. The growing backlash involves people whose plans are being discontinued because the policies don’t meet the law’s more-stringent standards. They’re finding that many alternative policies come with higher premiums and deductibles. After receiving a letter from her insurer that her plan was being discontinued, Deborah Persico, a 58-year-old lawyer in the District, found a comparable plan on...

I am a catholic church organist. Yesterday morning before the 7:30 a.m. mass a boy came up to the choir loft alone. He sat reverently in the pew with a very serious look on his face. Not only did he sit very still but he seemed extremely interested in the mass. I found out later that he came to church with his aunt because he wants to be baptized and become a catholic. His parents never bothered to give him any religious instruction. Just seeing this young man and hearing his backstory gave me such hope for the future. To...

Thirty-four years ago today, Iranian “students” stormed the US embassy in Tehran, Iran with the approval and, later, outright support, of the Ayatollah Khomeini, the Supreme Leader of Iran and the Islamic Revolution. This should properly be regarded as the opening action in the modern era of a global Islamic jihadist insurgency directed at the US in particular and the West in general. To be sure that insurgency is not homogenous and has been executed in fits and starts with often violent disputes between Islamic jihadist factions, but a global insurgency it is nonetheless. To those of us old enough...

Fresh questions about whether the White House deceived Americans with claims they could bypass the broken HealthCare.gov website by using the phone or mailing in an application provoked an exasperated response Monday from White House press secretary Jay Carney. "I give up," Carney told ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl, accusing the White House reporter of speaking "in tones of dramatic revelation" to inflate a story. The exchange centered around documents released by House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) on Monday. Meeting notes from the administration "war room" handling the rollout of ObamaCare showed that consumers who called the ObamaCare...

Bob LoterMUSCATINE, Iowa — When Bob Loter gives a talk to employers about hiring veterans to fill job openings, he knows what he’s talking about. He’s a veteran himself. Loter, the veterans program coordinator for Iowa Workforce Development, served for 20 years in the U.S. Army in the infantry and as a recruiter — two of those years recruiting people in Muscatine. With foot problems and hearing loss suffered during his years as a soldier, he’s also a disabled veteran. “I can’t run up a hill anymore in my combat boots,” he said with a smile. Loter delivered a “Hiring...

Administration officials were concerned that once users were able to view the available policies for purchase on HealthCare.gov, they could be disappointed with the cost and options available. The concerns were expressed in meeting notes from the ObamaCare "war room" obtained by CNN. "In some cases, there will be fewer options than would be desired to promote consumer choice and an ideal shopping experience," the meeting notes read. "Additionally, in some cases there will be relatively high cost plans." The discussion last week among officials at the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight appeared to reveal a behind-the-scenes concern...

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois prison officials say as many as 30,000 newly freed inmates could gain health care coverage as part of the Affordable Care Act. As part of the new federal health insurance law, Illinois is among the states that will offer Medicaid coverage to all nonelderly, low-income adults. That includes prison parolees, who typically leave the Illinois Department of Corrections without any health coverage and must use emergency rooms when they are sick or injured. The agency says the change may not only offer parolees a path to treat chronic ailments and mental health issues but could stop them...

Don’t believe rumors circulating online that the IRS will place liens on homes if owners fail to buy health insurance as mandated under the Affordable Care Act, local and state real estate organizations are saying. The Wichita Area Association of Realtors addresses the rumor in its weekly report today. “Thankfully, this rumor is completely false as Congress specifically prohibited the IRS from filing liens against real property to enforce the individual mandate to purchase health insurance,” the report says.

The Navy Jack is the flag flown by United States Naval Vessels. It's motto of "Don't Tread on Me" is emblazoned on a Red and White Striped background with a rattlesnake stretched across it. The flag has a long and revered history in America's Navy spanning back to the time of our country's fight for Independence. However, Navy SEAL commanders are now banning the historical symbol. The question is, who is behind the ban?

An Israeli court has rejected a lawsuit by 37 Palestinian Authority (PA) Arabs, who demanded compensation for an alleged IDF “massacre” of their relatives, reports Maariv. In addition, the court ruled that the plaintiffs must pay 210,000 shekels to the State of Israel, in compensation for the sums it had to spend on legal fees for its defense. The lawsuit relates to events that took place on February 19 and 20, 2002, at the height of the massive terror war launched by the PA against Israel some 17 months earlier, and usually referred to by its Arab name, the Second...

I AM guessing that most of my readers feel that they are not holy. That holiness, saintliness, is in fact an impossibility in this life. We say, “I am too weak, too sinful, too frail to ever rise to the ranks of the righteous.” We read Scriptures like the following, and feel they were written on a different planet: …as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct, for it is written, “Be holy because I am holy.” (1 Pet 1:15-16) Or a different universe: You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly...

Two single-engine aircraft carrying skydivers collided 12,000 feet above Superior, Wis., on Saturday evening, sending one plane plummeting to earth in flames – but all nine jumpers and both pilots survived, said one of the jumpers. The only person injured, except for bumps and bruises, was the pilot of the plane that crashed. He used an emergency chute to escape the falling aircraft but suffered cuts, Mike Robinson, who was aboard that plane, told NBC News. The incident occurred as a Cessna 185 was closely following a Cessna 182 for a maneuver called a tracking dive, Robinson said, in which...

Democrats and Republicans alike have plenty to say about the news New York Senator, Chuck Schumer, dropped in Iowa Saturday night. Schumer announced his endorsement for Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016. The endorsement created quite the buzz among the Democrats. Political Columnist, Kathie Obradovich, says, “They’re very much waiting on Hillary to decide what she is going to do.” Clinton’s resume as US Senator, former First Lady and Secretary of State has Democrats believing she could master the role as the first female president. The Iowa chairman of the Republican Party also feels a woman could do...

PANGUITCH — A buck surprised a sheriff and a driver after it ended up in the trailer the woman was hauling. About 3 p.m. Sunday, a woman driver hauling a travel trailer called the Garfield County Sheriff's Office saying she had hit something while traveling on Highway 89 just outside of Panguitch. When Conservation Officer Micah Evans arrived, he noticed a hole about 2 feet in diameter in the side of the trailer, a sheriff's office spokesperson said. No blood was on the trailer. As he opened the trailer, he expected to find a dead or injured animal, but saw...

The failure of the Obamacare website took many by surprise. But Glenn Beck thought there’s at least one person who saw the trainwreck coming: President Obama. Beck called Obama a “Marxist revolutionary” and argued that he knew all along the health care site wasn’t ready and just didn’t care. New reports show that the White House knew the website would have a bumpy rollout three yeas ago, and Beck said the inability of the White House to handle this means that the health care information of anyone who signs up on the site is “not secure.” If Obama had done...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — If it had been a foul ball or broken bat that struck John Coomer in the eye as he watched a Kansas City Royals game, it's unlikely the courts would have forced the team to pay for the surgeries and suffering he's endured But because it was a hot dog thrown by the team mascot — behind the back, no less — he just may have a case. The Missouri Supreme Court is weighing whether the "baseball rule" — a legal standard that protects teams from being sued over fan injuries caused by events on...

Michelle Pfeiffer was in her 20s when she became involved in a cult that encouraged its followers to live without food or water.Tabloids are full of stories of Hollywood actresses on crazy fad diets, but Michelle Pfeiffer once belonged to a cult that believed human beings could learn to live on nothing but air. In a recent interview with The Sunday Telegraph, the 55-year-old actress said she was 20 when she moved to Los Angeles and met a couple who acted like "personal trainers." “They worked with weights and put people on diets. Their thing was vegetarianism,” she said. “They...
