MANSFIELD, Ohio — Local authorities in Mansfield were tracking a pack of coyotes Friday after a man doing some lawn care was attacked. He was riding a mower while blowing leaves along Springmill Road shortly before noon. According to the Mansfield Police Department, about four coyotes rushed at him from a wooded area and one jumped up on the mower, scratching him. The man’s jacket was torn and he suffered an injury to his arm but was able to drive himself to the hospital.

Terry McAuliffe and Ken Cuccinelli are both looking to make Tuesday's election for governor into a referendum on President Barack Obama's health overhaul. McAuliffe planned to campaign Monday with Vice President Joe Biden a day after Obama weighed in, throwing national Democrats' full backing into the race. Cuccinelli, meanwhile, would be campaigning with Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and planned his final campaign rally with former Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, a hero of the libertarian wing of the GOP.

The Roman Catholic Church will not be electing women cardinals into its ranks. Not soon. Not ever."This is just nonsense . . . It is simply not a realistic possibility that Pope Francis will name women cardinals," Fr Federico Lombardi, senior Vatican spokesman, was quoted by Irish Times.Pope Francis greet cardinals and bishops during the general audience in Saint Peter's Square at the Vatican October 30, 2013. REUTERS/Alessandro Bianchi The Vatican official was reacting to reports that wildly insinuated Pope Francis is set to ordain two women as cardinals into the upcoming February conclave or meeting of bishops.Reports were rife...

There’s something ‘off’ about President Barack Hussein Obama allegedly telling aides while discussing drone strikes, I’m ‘really good at killing people’. Obama doesn’t own up to anything, even including who he is. Obama has a track record for never taking ownership of anything other than that which other people have accomplished over a lifetime of sweat. In this latest revelation, one can almost hear strains of the Peter Gunn theme song, or with just a little imagination find Obama’s smirking omnipresent face on display down at the post office among ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’ posters of yore. Portraying himself as...

Sen. Dianne Feinstein appeared on CBS’ Face the Nation yesterday in part to face the music. Bob Schieffer led off this portion of her appearance by noting that the Obama administration has failed to deliver on many promises of ObamaCare, not the least of which was “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan.” Feinstein tries to explain that the promise was true … up until the bill passed.

Why is it that we needed the Affordable Care Act? Was it because everybody was told inaccurately that Americans were dying in the streets untreated? If you ask Europeans and people from other continents that is exactly the perception they have about the United States. They do not know that any American can walk sick into an emergency room and he/she will be treated immediately. They don’t have to wait weeks and months to have a doctor’s appointment, tests, and procedures before they are actually treated as is the case in all socialized medicine countries. Why was it that ObamaCare...

Ute Pass Fault: Sand Injectites and Rapid Deformation Fit the Flood by John D. Morris, Ph.D. * In last month’s edition of Acts & Facts, I mentioned studies that Dr. Steve Austin and I presented in a technical paper demonstrating that the deformations in sedimentary strata at two sites better fit with the biblical Flood than with evolution’s long ages of deposition.1 We featured the first project site, the Split Mountain Formation in southern California, in that issue. Now we will examine geological evidence from the second site, the Ute Pass Fault in Colorado. Location and General Features The Rocky...

This news story appeared in a local news outlet, but the ultimate source is the AP. The story notes that former (Democrat) Speaker of the House of Representatives, Jim Wright, claims that he was denied an ID to vote. Yeah, I am supposed to believe that a former Speaker of the House has not one valid, government-issued photo ID in his possession. Anyone else smell a publicity stunt?

WINCHESTER, Va. (AP) - Terry McAuliffe and Ken Cuccinelli are both looking to make Tuesday's election for governor into a referendum on President Barack Obama's health overhaul. At the time when I served as Mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, my city and others across the country looked to Detroit as an industrial and cultural center of America. Motown Records, started by Berry Gordy in Detroit, created some of the best music in the world with hits from The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. After World War II, Detroit became the North Dakota oil boom of its day, as engineers and workers flocked to the city to prosper and make the classic, gas-guzzling muscle cars which would come to represent everything great about America. By 1960, with the...

TULSA, Oklahoma - Police are searching for a burglar who was shot multiple times. He was caught in the act by a homeowner, who showed no mercy. The burglar was taken to the hospital on October 12, but now he's essentially disappeared. Police have already arrested one man for the burglary and now they're searching for Michael Watts. The homeowner who shot Watts said it's a shame that Watts broke into his house looking for gold and left full of lead. (snip) Watts had surgery and disappeared. Report on the 2013 International Conference on Creationism by Jake Hebert, Ph.D. * In August, 354 creation scientists and supporters from nine different countries attended the 2013 International Conference on Creationism (ICC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dozens of authors presented their peer-reviewed papers—nearly all of them technical in nature. Well represented at this year’s ICC, the Institute for Creation Research sent its entire science staff, several of whom presented a number of papers, which are also available for online viewing at www.icr.org. Geologist Tim Clarey discussed gravity-driven “overthrusts,” showing that these geological features (in which older strata are found on top...

The six-term congressman’s announcement in an op-ed column may influence the 2014 election to lead the state. Maine political observers offered early reaction Monday to Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Michaud’s announcement that he’s gay, ending years of speculation and potentially sharply changing the dynamic of the 2014 gubernatorial race. Michaud, 57, currently serving his sixth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, made the disclosure in a column submitted to three of the state’s major news outlets. He said he was making the announcement in response to “the whisper campaigns, insinuations and push polls” that unidentified people have been using to...

Left-wing actor Sean Penn urged President Obama to “use his executive authority to have Senator Cruz committed to a mental hospital. Obviously, the man is not happy. Our Constitution guarantees a person’s right to happiness. I believe that Cruz would truly be happier if he were confined and medicated. I know I would.” “Since he won’t go of his own free will it falls on the president to take action to protect the Senator’s happiness by compelling him to enter treatment for his own good,” Penn argued. “The highest obligation of a ruler is the happiness of his people. Going...

Obama is so honest that even when he lies… it’s only to be honest. Sure Obama lied to Americans… but it was for their own good. He was only lying to Americans in order to keep his promise to them. Dan (Pfeiffer’s crazy spin) on Obama’s now infamous “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan” lie may be more addled than Orwellian. It goes through more contortions than a gymnast falling out of a plane. Plugging in the now familiar claim that the cancelled plans were somehow “substandard”, Dan Pfeiffer tries to argue that Obama had to...

SNIP Robert Laszewski, an industry consultant, said he thinks the rise in rates was inevitable. The new law, he said, has resulted in an estimated 30 to 50 percent increase in baseline costs for insurers. SNIP David Prestin, 48, who operates a gas station and diner at a truck stop in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, was unhappy to learn recently that his premiums are slated to rise from $923 to $1,283 next year under Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. The insurer said it needed to add maternity care to comply with the Affordable Care Act. The issue of maternity coverage...
