1. Assume that Stanford beats Oregon, and Baylor beats Oklahoma ( reasonable chance of it happening) can either or both jump pass Ohio State ( bye)
2. I'd love LSU's chances if the game were in Baton Rouge...gonna be a lot harder on the road. However, if the Mad Hatter does manage to pull one out here, how far down does Bama drop in the polls?
GO NOLES!
1: If you look at the computers Stanford is much closer to THE Ohio State University than Baylor so if Stanford wins they have a much better chance of jumping over THE Ohio State University. Will that be enough???
2: LSU has a horrible computer ranking, close to 20 across the rankings. So the computers would punish ‘Bama for losing to LSU. A lot depends on (1).
I haven’t seen much of Oklahoma State this season. They play home to Baylor on November 23. That could be a fun game.
Nothing against FUS, but I would love to see an Alabama - Oregon match-up (would have loved to see that last year too as Notre Dame, God bless ‘em they earned it, was simply overmatched).
I agree. Except for some Thanksgivings, this is maybe the best Thursday college football ever. Two outstanding matchups with national implications.
Is Baylor for real? If they post 60-70 on Oklahoma, that will silence a lot of doubters.
Is Orgeon better than FSU? If they handle Stanford easily, that would be as solid a win as FSU’s topping of Clemson.
IMO, the BCS flip-flopping of FSU and Oregon simply reflects which one has the tougher schedule to date. When FSU beat Clemson, it meant they had a tougher schedule up to that point than Oregon. When Oregon dumped UCLA, the pendulum swung back to them. When FSU pounded Miami, the pendulum when back to the Seminoles. The system is basically working the way it should. If Oregon beats up Stanford, watch the BCS go back to putting the Ducks ahead.
Next year, the two will probably wind up in a head-to-head playoff semifinal which is the best way to settle the argument. Until then, computers and strength of schedule will have to do.
Baylor, OTOH, had a very weak non-conference schedule and the Big XII is having a down year. I don’t see any way they enter the discussion unless they are one of two remaining undefeateds (and who in Big 10 is going to topple Ohio State?).
I’m glad we will be going to a playoff but prepare yourself for the endless pouting and crying from whomever is the fifth-best team next year. Sheesh, in the basketball realm, teams moan and cry about not being the 69th best team in college basketball. Once some fifth-ranked team has a legitimate beef, prepare the arguments for an 8-game playoff in college football, then 16, then 32, then...
LSU has to beat A&M also. Don’t know how that game will be. Our defense sucks, but it should be a good game!
Gig ‘em Aggies!
Miami dodged a few bullets prior to playing FSU. Having watched FSU a few times and every Oregon game, there is no way FSU can compete with Oregon. FSU has one running back with great speed, and he is slower than at least three Oregon running backs.
If the Miami defense confused Winston into throwing two interceptions, just think what a very fast and experienced Oregon defense will do?
Marcus Mariota is faster than Winston, and has a more accurate arm.
1.This is a tremendous draft for QBs..if he comes out he could be the 5-8th QB taken.
2. Aggies may have the top recruiting class, and that means that they'll actually have a defense next season. If they do, they'd be legitimate contenders for the SEC championship, and the 4 team playoff next season.
3. He leads A&M to a championship..he goes #1 or 2...
BTW..if you have the chance, and if you haven't see it yet...go to NFL.com for the Eagles highlights...Riley Cooper had 3 TDs..and amazing catches..
I hope you are correct! I will say that our freshman quarterback, Kenny Hill, is looking impressive!
