An editorial in the New York Times this weekend tried to provide ridiculous cover for President Obama’s repeated promise of “if you like your plan you can keep it,” which has turned out to be a huge lie. The Times claimed Obama merely “misspoke.”

Eastern Libya has declared an autonomous regional government with an official ceremony, challenging the country's weak central government that failed to assume unifying power over rebels and various tribes since the 2011 war toppled Muammar Gaddafi. Leaders of an autonomy movement met on Sunday in the small town of Ajdabiya to launch the government under the name of Barqa, or Cyrenaica as it is also known, supporters said. A pro-federalist television station showed more than 20 ministers taking the oath at a podium decorated with a Cyrenaica flag. They were joined by the tribal leader Ibrahim Jathran, the former head...

A man wrongly accused of being a pedophile was beaten unconscious, set on fire, and killed by two neighborhood "vigilantes." Investigators say the brutal violence in the Bristol, England neighborhood appears to be the result of a vicious rumor mill and a misguided police investigation. According to the Daily Mail, 44-year-old Bijan Ebrahimi was arrested in July after being accused of taking "inappropriate" images of neighborhood children. But after an investigation, police determined that Ebrahimi was actually taking pictures of kids he suspected of vandalizing his prized garden. Despite being released by police with no charges, the Daily Mail reports...

Last Wednesday, Harvard’s local chapter of the national divestment campaign received a sharp and public rejection from university president Drew Faust, who released a public statement that she will not support reinvesting Harvard’s endowment portfolio away from fossil fuels. The letter has been billed as a massive disappointment for divesters, whose path to reshaping how Harvard invests its massive endowment is rapidly narrowing. This narrative entirely misses the point of divestment. Divesters might have lost an important battle, but they’re winning the much more important war. If you speak to those involved in divestment campaigns at Harvard or abroad, you...

For all you ice cream connoisseurs out there, something new is lighting up cones around the world. Check it out. “British inventors made an ice cream that glows in the dark. The ice cream gets its green sheen from a synthesized protein that makes jellyfish glow.” It’s pretty cool to look at, but as far as the taste, there’s no mention of that. Lick Me I’m Delicious is the company behind the concoction. Its main developer, Charlie Francis, had a more in-depth explanation of how the glowing ice cream works, saying: “The protein we are using in the ice cream...

In 2003, eight years before Osama bin Laden was found and killed by U.S. Navy SEALs, Grand Rapids resident Tom Lee says he told federal investigators exactly where to find the world’s most wanted terrorist. That should qualify Lee for the $25 million award being offered for the successful capture of bin Laden, according to a letter his lawyers have sent to Federal Bureau of Investigations Director James B. Comey. “It disturbs me, and it should disturb every American, that I told them exactly where bin Laden was in 2003, and they let him live another eight years,” Lee said...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Besieged by unflattering stories about the launch of President Barack Obama's healthcare program, the White House saw a news report that it wanted to swiftly knock down. It was from NBC, which said that Obama had overpromised when he said Americans who liked their insurance could keep it, and that the president knew that many people would see their coverage change. White House officials quickly began firing off a barrage of tweets on Twitter, which has become one of the administration's most potent and relied-upon weapons in trying to shape public opinion and media reports. Josh Earnest,...

How many of you would have loved to have been a fly on the wall a few weeks ago wheayn Obama was informed that only SIX people signed up for ObamaCare on the first day of its roll out? Well, good news! This VIDEO recreates exactly what happened when Obama was given the bad news. A bonus is that I reveal an incredible scoop: the names of the six people who did sign up that first day. Also Ted Cruz makes a cameo appearance in Obama's mind. The next video I made based on today's newspaper was about the...

Parole agents with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation used a variety of tactics to keep registered sex offenders from coming into contact with children this Halloween. The long running statewide program known as "Operation Boo" involves agents tracking parolees wearing GPS monitors and checking on them at their homes, but some say another strategy has proven equally as important. More than 50 transient sex offenders with crimes involving children were required to report the Oakland parole office from 5pm until 10 p.m., peak hours for trick or treating. Parolees receive a meal, counseling and can even watch a...

When the Democratic and Republican chairmen of the congressional intelligence commitees both agree that HealthCare.gov, Obamacare’s version of Internet Hell, should be taken down for security reasons, it’s time to pay attention. Democrat Dianne Feinstein, who has chaired the Senate Intelligence Committee for the last five years, startled Bob Schieffer on CBS’s Face the Nation today when she said, “I felt and I said this directly to the president’s chief of staff, that they ought to take down the website until it was right. They believe that they need to keep it running and that they can sort out the...

"There is no profession or social status, there is no sin or crime of any kind that could erase even one of his children from God's heart and memory. 'God remembers ', he does not forget those He created". This is how Pope Francis interpreted Sunday's Gospel, which tells of the conversion of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10 ).In front of at least 40 thousand faithful gathered in St Peter's Square - with banners and stadium horns - before the Angelus, the Pope explained the stoy: " This man [ Zacchaeus ] is a lost sheep, despised and ' excommunicated' , because...

It seems that the appetite for power and influence knows no bounds for Obama, our imperial president. He continually ignores the legislative process and expands his power through the use of regulations and executive orders. His latest power grab involves the control of our nation's climate change policies. Obama signed an executive order on Friday that creates a new task force that will advise the administration on how to respond to the consequences of climate change. The result will likely mean that the federal government will be dictating to states and local municipalities on how they handle regulations in a...

Patrick Blute is no Andrew Lloyd Webber. Webber was 23-years old when he famously staged the rock musical “Jesus Christ Superstar,” which debuted on Broadway in 1971. Blute, a 23-year-old Columbia University grad, is the creator of “Spears The Musical – The Gospel According to Britney,” for which there is a funders preview this week. “Jesus Christ Superstar” was fairly faithful to the Gospel account of the last week in the earthly life of Christ before He went to be with the Father. It featured such notable songs as “I Don’t Know How to Love Him,” “Gethsemane,” and, of course,...

With much sadness I announce the loss of my oldest brother. "LanceyHoward". A heart attack was the cause. Words can hardly express the heartache this has caused our/his family. FreeRepublic was part of the "air" he breathed. His last contribution was a Comment the very day he died on Nagging Women, something his dear wife never was. Please pray for her, his three children, and two grandchildren. Thank you all the pleasure FreeRepublic brought him.

Historian Tony Horwitz tries to separate the truth from the myths that have been built up about the Jamestown “princess” Pocahontas is the most myth-encrusted figure in early America, a romantic “princess” who saves John Smith and the struggling Jamestown colony. But this fairy tale, familiar to millions today from storybook and film, bears little resemblance to the extraordinary young woman who crossed cultures and oceans in her brief and ultimately tragic life. The startling artwork (above), the oldest in the National Portrait Gallery collection, is the only image of Pocahontas taken from life. Made during her visit to London...

These allegations relate to the quid-pro-quo that caused Magistrate Judge Robinson to enter the improper and illegal order of dismissal of the Indictment of Elizabeth Duke.
