  • AR: Constitutional Carry Percolating in Arkansas Media

Arkansas passed ACT 746, which went into effect on August 16th of this year, (2013).   The act effectively legalizes constitutional carry in Arkansas because it changes the definition of what constitutes the illegal carry of weapons.  The old law did not require any intent;  the new law makes carry of weapons illegal only if the carrier has the intent to illegally use the weapon. AG McDaniel's, a Democrat, issued an opinion that the new law does not allow open carry.  The opinion is nicely dissected by Steve Jones here.  Essentially, the AG simply dodges the real issue, and never addresses...

MIAMI (AP) -- Dean Griffin liked the health insurance he purchased for himself and his wife three years ago and thought he'd be able to keep the plan even after the federal Affordable Care Act took effect ... The Griffins, who live near Philadelphia on the Delaware border, pay $770 monthly for their soon-to-be-terminated health care plan with a $2,500 deductible. The cheapest plan they found on their state insurance exchange was a so-called bronze plan charging a $1,275 monthly premium with deductibles totaling $12,700. It covers only providers in Pennsylvania, so the couple wouldn't be able to see the...

Walt Bellamy, the Hall of Fame center who averaged 20.1 points and 13.7 rebounds in 14 seasons in the NBA, died Saturday. He was 74. The Atlanta Hawks confirmed the death, but didn't provide details. The Hawks said Bellamy attended the team's home opener Friday night. "Walt Bellamy was an enormously gifted Hall of Fame player who had a tremendous impact on our game," NBA Commissioner David Stern said in a statement released by the league. "Off the court, he was an even more extraordinary person. Walt is going to be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing...

This holiday season, getting a lump of coal in your stocking might actually be preferable, considering the alternative gift from the folks at Organizing for Action is Obamacare. Their newest cult campaign is called "Health Care for the Holidays." How festive. "This holiday season, make sure to talk to your loved ones about getting covered," the group's newest ad campaign says. "These conversations don't have to be tough — OFA can help." Because your family holiday gathering should actually be an opportunity for you to register them for Obamacare, or something. OFA even provides you with these handy talking points...

November 2, 2013 Flashback Video: Democrats Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, Patty Murray Promise “If You Like Your Health Care Plan, You Can Keep It” under ObamaCare – Video It was not just President Obama who promised again and again, “If you like your current Insurance Plan, you can keep it.” This video shows Democratic Senators Harry Reid, Dick Durbin, and Patty Murray saying the same thing emphatically. Voters need to make the Democrats pay big in next year’s 2014 Election, and in the 2016 Presidential Election. You can’t believe a word they say...

A Chicago-area high school pulled a senior student from class on Thursday after he showed up to school wearing a Jesus costume for Halloween. Shortly after, the school then reversed its decision and allowed the teen to return to class wearing the costume. Angenetta Frison, mother of Marshon Sanders, a senior at Highland Park High School in Chicago's northern suburbs, said in a statement to a local news outlet that her son was asked to remove his Jesus costume after two teachers at his high school reportedly complained that the costume was offensive. The costume consisted of a long white...

While some European ethicists and politicians have called for an end to the creation of “three-parent” IVF embryos, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced it is considering allowing the practice - without having held a public consultation. Researchers say that the technique “modifies standard IVF technology” to create an embryo from the eggs of two women and sperm from one man. The FDA’s most recent draft guidance on the issue included no mention of the ethical concerns over the nature of the procedure itself, but only offers suggestions for developing early stage clinical trials. “This guidance is intended...

Email might be on the verge of a radical makeover. And the NSA is not going to like it. On Wednesday, two American companies with a track record of offering encrypted private communications are set to join forces in an unprecedented bid to counter dragnet Internet spying. Can you feed yourself on $4.50 a day? That’s the typical daily benefit for someone who gets food stamps. Millions of low-income Americans are dependent on the program, which is called Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP, for some if not all of their food money. SNAP benefits have just been reduced slightly, with the sunset of an economic-stimulus addition, and will likely be cut more by Congress before the year is through. Here in Clark County, Share and the Clark County Food Bank are inviting the community to get a sense of life on that kind of budget by...

The American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) decision to once again reclassify pedophilia has led to further concerns that the professional organization is attempting to legitimize the disorder, paving the way for its defense and the recommendation of removal of age-of-consent laws.In a press release Friday, Liberty Counsel, a nonprofit organization that promotes the causes of religious liberty, the sanctity of human life, and the family observed that in its newly published Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), APA “changed the classification of pedophilia from a ‘disorder’ to a ‘sexual orientation,’ but, following the public outcry, APA released...

BAYONNE, NEW JERSEY – Henry Repeating Arms, the leading lever action rifle manufacturer headquartered in Bayonne, N.J., will begin manufacturing their steel centerfire rifles in their Rice Lake, Wisconsin facility in 2014. To date the Wisconsin plant has supplied the Bayonne operation with many components used in all Henry models including receivers, bolts, sights and other internal parts. Several million dollars of new computerized machining equipment was invested in the Wisconsin facility to support the manufacturing of the company’s caliber .30-30 and .45-70 rifles and to increase the volume of the components produced for its rimfire rifles. The Obamacare rollout is a world-class failure. The most expensive website in history doesn’t work and those who battle through the website to get to the cost of the policies are most often shocked to see expensive policies with very high deductibles. So it’s time for the well-used Obama Excuse Machine to start pumping out excuses. Consider the following stories we have heard from Democrats: 1. Our problems are caused by the fact that Republicans said our plan would not work. They said government could not manage this gigantic health care takeover in an efficient or inexpensive fashion. That’s the...

It features in one of the most famous movie scenes of all time - and now it could be yours. The car in which Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman's characters travelled in to the airport for Casablanca's immortal finale is going under the hammer next month. The 1940 Buick Phaeton - which belonged to Bogart's character Rick Blaine in the 1942 film - is expected to fetch $500,000 (£312,000) at auction in New York on November 25. It is among a number of iconic movie props and costumes being sold off as part of the Dreams Are Made of This...

WHAT ARE YOU PROTESTING FOR? I recently became active in the Overpass Protests that are springing up all over our country. I have been amazed at the outpouring of support from passersby but also dismayed by the fact that even after every...thing that’s happened, most people still seem disengaged. Today, at our Overpass Rally, I was rendered nearly speechless, when a car with several women stopped to ask questions. The car stopped on top of the overpass, blocking traffic and a very elegant black woman opened her door and turned in her seat. I thought she was getting out of...

Choate, 27, taught Sunday school at the U.S. Military Academy's Cadet Chapel and said he always thought of it as the place he would get married if he could. West Point hosted two same-sex weddings of women in late 2012, more than a year after New York legalized same-sex marriage. But Saturday's wedding was the first time two men wed at West Point.
