Floyd Mayweather, getting ready for his first bout in 21 months, has apparently lost none of the chip on his shoulder that made him one of boxing's most intriguing figures. In an otherwise calm meeting with reporters on Tuesday, including ESPN.com's Kieran Mulvaney, Mayweather calmly and matter-of-factly lashed out at what he thinks is unfair treatment from the media and the public, in part because of his race.

I am a Gen "Y"er (WHY) - so i am questioning A LOT right now. This is the way I see it. I've been doing a lot of 'soul searching' the past few days...taking a step back from things and i honestly wonder if our efforts, anger, frustration is even worth it. We can all agree that our nation is headed to hell in a hand basket. At this stage in the game, in the 9th inning, is it even possible to return to the greatness this nation once was? I can honestly say that most of my generation and...

WASHINGTON -- Facing criticism for her handling of federal stimulus money, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday that she would not start any new border construction projects while the department reviewed how projects were selected. Napolitano has faced questions since The Associated Press reported last month that Homeland Security officials did not follow their internal priority lists when choosing which border checkpoints would get money for renovations.

ETS – Bias or blindness in the Beehive? Thursday, 17 September 2009, 9:11 am Press Release: University of Auckland ETS – Bias or blindness in the Beehive about carbon dioxide emissions? A charge that there is not one government scientist in New Zealand associated with climate issues who is willing to speak out on global warming alarmism with some sense of balance or with an appearance of an open mind has been made by Associate Professor Chris de Freitas, a climate scientist and Associate Professor in the School of Geography, Geology and Environmental Science at the University of Auckland, writing...

Neil Armstrong's first small step for man was widely believed to be the start of a long and glorious road to the stars. Forty years after the first Moon landing, the dream has faded. Astronauts have been stuck in low-Earth orbit, boldly going nowhere. American attempts to kick-start a new phase of lunar exploration have stalled amid the realisation that Nasa's budget is too small for the job. And last week, a committee chaired by the aerospace engineer Norman Augustine concluded that "no plan compatible with the … 2010 budget profile permits human exploration to continue in any meaningful way".

With NASA in a budget crisis, the US faces a historic choice between boosting human space exploration like President Kennedy did in the 1960s or confining astronauts to low-Earth orbit like President Nixon did a decade later, former NASA chief Mike Griffin told a congressional committee on Tuesday.

Here is video of MSNBC's Ed Schultz talking about Rush Limbaugh's comments on a white kid that was beat up on a school bus and saying that he thinks Rush Limbaugh wants to start a "race war." Ed Schultz called Rush Limbaugh "the most hateful man in America" and a "druggster." Also in the video Ed Schultz gave his solution to the problem, that Obama should "bring these kids to the White House" and make it a "teachable moment." (Video)

Anyone watching Factor tonight? (09/16/2009)...O'reilly absolved Obama as having no connection with ACORN and painted the conservative media (as he put it) as seizing on this issue solely to bring the president down... Right when I jump back in the water with O'Reilly he shows his penchant for horsesh*t masquerading as objectivity.

A series of huge cracks etched across crater basins on Mars were caused by lakes that have since evaporated, a new study concludes. The cracks were initially thought to have been merely a byproduct of thermal contractions in the Martian permafrost. But a closer examination revealed the cracks were too big for that explanation. Cracks caused by thermal contraction have a maximum diameter of roughly 213 feet (65 meters), according to analytical models.

Suppose you had a friend you had known for many years, one who was very opinionated, who always seemed absolutely certain about everything, and yet who was always turning out to be wrong. He got you to buy stock in Enron and swore it would just keep on rising. He bet on the Yankees to sweep the Red Sox in ’04. He said mobile phones were just a fad, and before long people would give them up and go back to sending telegrams.

Federal Powers: Where in the U.S. Constitution does it say the government can force people to buy health insurance? And by what authority does it prohibit the purchasing of insurance across state lines?A key part of the administration's plan to reform health care is what is called the "individual mandate" — a requirement that everyone must have health insurance either through his or her employer or purchased individually. A good chunk of the uninsured are that way of their own volition. They are young and healthy and feel they have better things to do with their money at this point...

On Saturday, September 12, nearly 200 citizens attended the local TEA Party in Kailua Kona, HI. Participants in the rally braved first the sun, and then the rain in order to demonstrate their displeasure (to put it lightly) with the current (albeit, long-evolving) state of affairs in Washington, D.C. The overall message of the organization is that Americans have been “Taxed Enough Already”. Most participants’ signs elaborated on this basic belief. Kona’s TEA Party was the last in the nationwide, day-long event. The incredibly well-attended Washington, D.C. TEA Party kicked off the day in a strong way. I would argue...

Across the country, motorists are being greeted by signs advertising President Obama's $787 billion stimulus bill, and Republicans aren't happy about it. The large green-and-white highway signs declare, "Project Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act." Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H describes them as the "signs to nowhere" and tried in vain Wednesday to stop the advertising. Democrats were nearly unanimous in voting to defeat an amendment by Greg that would have prohibited the use of stimulus funds for signs that advertise taxpayer spending on stimulus projects. Only five Democrats crossed the aisle in the 45-52 vote, joining all 40...

Rep. Keith Ellison took Rep. Michele Bachmann to task today via his Blackberry. Ellison, arguably the most liberal member of Minnesota’s congressional delegation, chided his conservative colleague on Twitter for leaving a Financial Services Committee meeting before witnesses had offered their testimony. The hearing was held to discuss the possible expansion of the Community Reinvestment Act, which encourages lenders to aid low-income areas. Bachmann criticized the CRA and ACORN before leaving, according to Ellison’s tweets (below). “Michele Bachmann uses her time at financial services to attack CRA, ACORN, and then promptly walks out when experts begin testimony,” Ellison wrote.
