Floyd Mayweather, getting ready for his first bout in 21 months, has apparently lost none of the chip on his shoulder that made him one of boxing's most intriguing figures.

In an otherwise calm meeting with reporters on Tuesday, including ESPN.com's Kieran Mulvaney, Mayweather calmly and matter-of-factly lashed out at what he thinks is unfair treatment from the media and the public, in part because of his race.

Rush Limbaugh had consecutive phone callers today that were polar opposite but was riveting radio.

Gotta give him plenty of respect for his speed and ability, though perhaps not his punching power. However, he's someone who is easy to dislike. Boxing has had a few great statesmen, but he's not one of them. He's just another talented, but mouthy athlete. Oh boy, like we haven't seen that before...

Mayweather isn’t a big star for many reasons, but the main three are:

1) His fights are invariably snooze-fests.

2) He’s about as unlikeable a personality as exists in all of sports.

3) Boxing is less popular than it’s ever been.

As usual, race has nothing to do with it.
