Like virtually every issue that faces the nation, our healthcare problem is greatly exacerbated by mass immigration—both legal and illegal. A total of 43% of non-citizens lack health insurance, compared to just 12.7% of native-born Americans. These uninsured immigrants impose huge strains on our healthcare system that helped create the crisis we currently face. Plenty of analysts and commentators have exposed how illegal aliens will receive healthcare under Obamacare. They point out that while the bill claims to prohibit illegal aliens from receiving benefits, the Democrats repeatedly blocked Amendments that would screen for legal status. Steve Camorata of the non-partisan...

This slide show captured most of the signs and faces attached to our evening teaparty in Denver. Just a few facts about our organizational efforts for this teaparty: I spent two months and approx. 205 volunteer hours planning this event. All time donated for free. I also spent $520.00 out of pocket for the sound and light system rental, batteries, and blank CD's. We had a team of people who donated as yet uncounted volunteer hours helping with the logistics of this event. We had pledged donations of $275.00 before the event (I have yet to see any of this...

Here is video of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs yesterday on with CNN's John King. King asked Gibbs if Obama agreed with the New York Times' Maureen Dowd that many of those opposing ObamaCare are doing so because Obama is a "black President." Gibbs disagreed with Dowd: "I don't think the President believes that people are upset because of the color of his skin." Yet, Obama's pack of enablers in the media just keep saying this. It was a theme all weekend, because they are desperate to dismiss all opposition as just being from the fringes of society. We'll...

For all the talk of another big drop coming, the pieces are in place for 3 years of 15% annual increases for the giants of the blue-chip index. It's been exactly a year since the government kicked a smoldering financial crisis into a roaring blaze by letting Lehman Brothers (LEHMQ, news, msgs) collapse. Observers this week are memorializing the mistake, but investors need to look forward -- and what they should see is that the government's later reaction to its error may have actually laid the groundwork for the greatest bull market of the decade. For while it seems unlikely...

President Nixon's Treasury Secretary John Connally once famously quipped to a gathering of European central bankers that "the dollar may be our currency, but it's your problem." Connally got it partially correct. Rather than a problem solely suffered by those outside the U.S., the dollar's debasement on Connally's watch brought Americans great harm too. Devaluationist policies never enhance growth, and just as they created problems for the rest of the world, they similarly gave us the lost decade that was the 1970s. Connally made his comment when the dollar seemingly had a definition in terms of gold. The dollar was...

The whispers among some of his allies: that those who loathe Obama are driven in part by racism. Demonstrators are shown during a rally at Freedom Plaza in Washington on Saturday. Photo: AP AUSTIN – Eight months into Barack Obama’s presidency, as criticism of his administration seems to reach new levels of volume and intensity each week, the whispers among some of his allies are growing louder: That those who loathe the nation’s first African–American president, and especially those who would deny his citizenship, are driven at least in part by racism. It’s a feeling that’s acutely felt among...

The White House Council of Economic Advisers said Thursday the $787 billion stimulus plan kept one million people working who would otherwise not have had jobs. You wouldn't let me stand up and make the simplistic claim that these million jobs were saved at a cost of $787,000 per job without challenging the details of my accounting, would you? Surely, reality is more complex. But when the White House Council of Economic Advisers calculated the number of jobs saved by our government's massive stimulus spending, how is it that they entirely neglected to account for the impact on employment of...

Act on Your Dream Today Today's Scripture "Write the vision [dream] and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it." (Habakkuk 2:2, NKJV) Today's Word from Joel and Victoria Have you ever known someone who had an exciting dream to do something great but did nothing to make it happen? It's so important to act on the dreams that God has given you. You can take ownership of your dreams by planning and preparing for them. Remember, success is not accidental. Where do you see yourself in your career, finances or relationships? Put some action...

Cigna HealthCare, Nataline's family insurer, initially refused to pay for a liver transplant on grounds that it would not save Nataline in her grave condition. But the family took the case to the media and, after enlisting the support of a powerful nurses' lobby, persuaded Cigna to consent to the procedure. It was a public relations disaster for the company. Unfortunately, by this point Nataline's condition had deteriorated even further, and the family terminated life support the same day Cigna acquiesced. The left grabbed onto this tragedy from the beginning as a case study against private, "for-profit" health insurance. John...

The Bridgeport Tea Party was an awesome success!! It was amazing to see so many people gathered, despite the pouring rain, to speak out for what they believe!! People young and old came bearing signs that said things like: "Don't Bankrupt My Kids," "Freedom Not Socialism" and "T.E.A. Taxed Enough Already!" Ann Coulter headlined the event (video below) and gave a great speech taking on Obama's plan for socializing healthcare.... “The Devil is in the details” has described matters for as long as we all have been alive. The various attributions of the phrase go back almost 200 years and are believed to have started with the statement that “the Good God” is in the details. This phrase remains particularly relevant in today’s complex society. Following are three examples where details really matter. 1) While recently reviewing the California budget compromise I found a small clause that no one was talking about. This clause states that the State Board of Equalization is going to register all businesses in California generating...

Arguments or Obedience ". . . the simplicity that is in Christ" —2 Corinthians 11:3 Simplicity is the secret to seeing things clearly. A saint does not think clearly until a long time passes, but a saint ought to see clearly without any difficulty. You cannot think through spiritual confusion to make things clear; to make things clear, you must obey. In intellectual matters you can think things out, but in spiritual matters you will only think yourself into further wandering thoughts and more confusion. If there is something in your life upon which God has put His pressure,...

US president to use his Lehman anniversary speech in Wall Street to call for more governance of the financial sector. Barack Obama will mark the first anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Brothers by demanding tighter financial regulation to avoid a repeat of the crisis. Obama will use a 30-minute speech in Wall Street today to reiterate the need for a fundamental shakeup of the banking sector, three months after he announced proposals for reform. White House insiders indicated over the weekend that the US president will also declare victory in the battle to rescue America's banks, and explain how...

The Center of Globular Cluster Omega Centauri Credit: NASA, ESA, and the Hubble SM4 ERO Team Explanation: What is left over after stars collide? To help answer this question, astronomers have been studying the center of the most massive ball of stars in our Milky Way Galaxy. In the center of globular cluster Omega Centauri, stars are packed in 10,000 times more densely than near our Sun. Pictured above, the newly upgraded Hubble Space Telescope has resolved the very center of Omega Centauri into individual stars. Visible are many faint yellow-white stars that are smaller than our Sun, several...

The message began to pop-up all over my Facebook page: “No one should die because they cannot afford health care or insurance and no one should go broke or bankrupt because they get sick.” Let us set aside the fact that no one in need of emergency life-saving medical care is denied because they do not have insurance and that there are state and federal programs already in existence that provide medical coverage for those of lesser means. I agree with the sentiment. I dare say I know of no one that doesn’t agree. There is simply no questioning the...

A full-blown trade row erupted between the US and China after Beijing accused Washington of “rampant protectionism” for imposing heavy duties on imported Chinese tyres and threatened action against imports of US poultry and vehicles. Trade relations between two of the world’s biggest economies deteriorated after Barack Obama, US president, signed an order late on Friday to impose a new duty of 35 per cent on Chinese tyre imports on top of an existing 4 per cent tariff. In his first big test on world trade since taking office in January, Mr Obama sided with America’s trade unions, which have...
