Conservative Activists Are Proving to be a Pathetic Bunch Posted by Erick Erickson September 10th Some of you will take offense at this post. Instead, you should take action. The Democrat opponent to Congressman Joe Wilson has raised over $100,000.00 since last night. What have you given to Joe Wilson. The man spoke for America. And now we need to open our wallets for Joe. It does no good to pat Joe on the back or give him an “atta boy.” Joe Wilson needs us to open our wallets and checkbooks. Joe Wilson is now a serious threat to Barack...

A senior Kremlin official confirmed Wednesday to the Russian paper Kommersant that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu did indeed make a clandestine trip to Russia on Monday. Commenting on the visit, the official said that "this kind of development could only be related to new and threatening information on Iran's nuclear program." The Russian newspaper quoted experts speculating that such a trip would only be justified under extraordinary circumstances, "for example, in the case of Israel planning to attack Iran." The report comes despite a statement Wednesday from the Kremlin press service that "nothing is known" about reports of the visit....

You have to forgive Joe Wilson, he's probably gotten used to shouting "You lie!" every time he has to deal with the governor from his home state. He was just doing what came naturally when he decided to be the one person in the room who admitted that the emperor wasn't wearing any clothes. At the very least, he is no longer under the radar. Wilson is all over the place now. Naturally, to the MSM he is the embodiment of all the crazies who can't see that the president just want so make everything perfect. The worst of it,...

WASHINGTON (AFP) – New US jobless claims fell to 550,000 in the past week, the government reported Thursday in a sign of further healing in the critical labor market. The seasonally adjusted number of claims fell by 26,000 in the week to September 5, the Labor Department reported. The figure for weekly claims was better than analyst expectations for 560,000. The four-week moving average, which smooths out week-to-week volatility, was 570,000, a decrease of 2,750 from the previous week's revised figure.

The House Committee on Energy and Commerce will hold a sham of a hearing today on the deleterious effects of the misguided Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA). The hearing is a sham because Chairman Henry A. Waxman, California Democrat, has refused multiple requests for testimony from small-business owners, consumers or anybody other than government officials. Instead, the sole witness will be new Consumer Product Safety Commission Chairman Inez Moore Tenenbaum, who started her job less than three months ago. When the legislation at issue is creating havoc among those being regulated, it's hardly constructive to hear only...

On St. Peter Damian "Jesus Must Truly Be at the Center of Our Life" VATICAN CITY, SEPT. 9, 2009 (Zenit.org).- Here is a translation of Benedict XVI's address today during the general audience in Paul VI Hall. * * * Dear brothers and sisters, During these Wednesday catecheses, I have been discussing some of the great figures of the life of the Church since its origin. Today I would like to reflect on one of the most significant personalities of the 11th century, St. Peter Damian, monk, lover of solitude and, at the same time, intrepid man of the Church,...

Barack Obama really showed himself Wednesday. Acting more like he was a two bit politician on the campaign trail rather than the President of the United States, Obama belittled his office to no end with cheap rhetoric, lies, and attacks on those who disagree with him.

The economic crisis of the past year, centered as it has been in the financial sector that lies at the heart of American capitalism, is bound to leave some lasting marks. Financial regulation, the role of large banks, and the relationships between the government and key players in the market will never be the same.More important, however, are the ways in which public attitudes about our system might change. The nature of the crisis, and of the government's response, now threaten to undermine the public's sense of the fairness, justice, and legitimacy of democratic capitalism. By allowing the conditions that...

Any Last Requests? Terrified Fish Takes Last Gasp As Kingfisher Snaps Up Its Supper [Pics in URL] By Mail Foreign Service 10th September 2009 If fish could speak, this little fellow would no doubt be saying his prayers (between gulps). Clamped in the beak of a kingfisher, he has only moments to live before a final journey down the predator's throat. This was the climax of a thrilling sequence of action captured on camera by wildlife photographer Ilia Shalamaev. Last supper: The fish appears to be terrified as it takes its final breath trapped in the beak of the kingfisher...

HE controversy over gender row champion runner Caster Semenya deepened today — after reports claimed sex swap tests have shown she is a HERMAPHRODITE. South African gold-medallist Semenya, 18, has both male and female organs, it was claimed. And sources close to the International Association of Athletics Federations — who ordered extensive tests on the teen after her amazing 800m win at the World Athletics Championships last month — say the results mean she could still be stripped of her medal.

CNSNews.com) – From March 2002 to March 2003, the federal government paid more than a thousand 15- to 17-year-olds $40 each to answer questions about their sex lives, including intimate questions about specific sexual acts, whether they had ever engaged in homosexual acts, whether they had used contraception, and what sorts of discussions they had had with their parents about sex. Armed with laptops loaded with two questionnaires, one for females and one for males, more than 200 federally funded female questioners from the University of Michigan went into homes throughout the country to administer the National Survey of Family...
