"Exercise helps to protect against heart disease by controlling weight but also by improving the health of blood vessels, lowering heart rate and increasing levels of good cholesterol. But Britons are amongst the most sedentary in Europe with only a quarter of people achieving four or more days of moderate activity per week compared to more than two thirds in the Netherlands. Only Italy and Ireland are more sedentary nations, according to the report."

Here is video of Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty talking about a "Tele-Town Meeting" he and other Republican Governors will hold tonight. He also said Obama's speech could be dubbed "rhetoric collides with reality." He said Obama's claims "don't add up," referring to Obama's claim that his Health Care Plan won't add to the nation's debt. . . . (VIDEO)

Great catch by Don Stewart/Josh Holmes in Mitch McConnell's office: Obama's speech tonight: "There are now more than thirty million American citizens who cannot get coverage.†Obama presser, Guadalajara, Mexico, 8/10/09: “We've got 46-47 million people without health insurance in our country

I watched the entire speech. At least it felt like he was talking and not just "reading" and had a grasp on the material. I think he's learning, here are the things I agree with Obama on. 1) Insurance haggeling and denying benefits and procedures over trivial "gotcha's" on enrollment forms is pure evil. 2) Being denied benefits because of prexisting conditions, I agree with Obama, that practice should end. 3) There are many area's with very little health insurance competition which isn't great. 4) Insurance companies dropping the sick is wrong. 5) Employees need to be able keep the...

ELEPHANT BUTTE LAKE, N.M. (KRQE) - One mariner knew a collision with his own boat could not be avoided as a large houseboat with Gov. Bill Richardson aboard and an aide at the helm tried to dock Saturday at an Elephant Butte Lake marina. No one was hurt in the 5:15 p.m. incident that damaged three boats and the marina. However Brian Condit, Richardson's chief of staff, was cited for negligent operation of the houseboat Bloody Mary. Richardson told KRQE News 13 Wednesday that he was napping at the time. "I think it's important that we get the facts out,"...

Being no stranger to political debate, I am constantly irritated by the ceaseless drum-beat of vacuous partisan come-backs. Most often from the left – Rush Limbaugh this, “you right-wingers” – and the endless drone of repeated propaganda “talking points”. Let me introduce myself. I am one of the forgotten people, lost in the haze of partisan self-interest. I was not always so unimportant. The Constitution on which the nation was founded was written for me. ......

Saab offers advanced radar for Gripen IN, clarifies some controversies 08:20 GMT, September 10, 2009 8ak | Yesterday Saab finally provided some details on the AESA radar and presented some explanation to quell rumours about the Gripen IN. Firstly, the AESA radar is being developed by Selex Galileo and this crucial part of the offering will not be subject to U.S. EUMA laws. In July, Jerusalem Post broke a story saying that the U.S. had pressured IAI to withdraw from jointly offering sensitive technologies such as their AESA radar. Mr Eddy de la Motte, India Director for Saab said that...

It is not a good sign when, more and more, political news in Washington (more than what we are doing overseas) drives the administration's grade for national security. But, that's what seems to be happening. Last week, attention focused on the decision of Attorney General of the United States to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate charging CIA investigators with the crime of torturing terrorist suspects. His announcement came on the heels of releasing a Bush-era CIA Inspector General report detailing alleged abuses by agency interrogators. The White House also announced that from now the investigation of "high-value" suspects would...

Pelosi $pares Charlie: GOPBy DAPHNE RETTER, Post Correspondent Last Updated: 5:05 AM, September 10, 2009 WASHINGTON -- Rep. Charles Rangel has donated more campaign cash to the House Democrats than virtually any other member of Congress -- and critics charge that's bought him protection from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Federal Election Commission reports show Rangel's campaign committee has forked over $2 million to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee since 1995. Only Pelosi (Calif.), Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer (Maryland) and Democratic Whip James Clyburn (SC) have been more generous. Rangel also has donated $3.8 million from his campaign and leadership committees...

UCLA atmospheric scientists have discovered a previously unknown basic mode of energy transfer from the solar wind to the Earth's magnetosphere. The research, federally funded by the National Science Foundation, could improve the safety and reliability of spacecraft that operate in the upper atmosphere. "It's like something else is heating the atmosphere besides the sun. This discovery is like finding it got hotter when the sun went down," said Larry Lyons, UCLA professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences and a co-author of the research, which is in press in two companion papers in the Journal of Geophysical Research. The sun,...

As occurs more and more, voices are heard from Washington, D. C., within the 111th Congress and elsewhere, as to what States of the Union ought to do about a matter of State law. The instant discussion, including some Congressional proposals, concerns the filling of a United States Senatorial interim vacancy. It has become a subject for pundits and other commentators, historically informed and otherwise. The issue undoubtedly has attracted top attention inasmuch as a terminally ill United States Senator, while dying with dignity, nevertheless had the audacity to purport to advise his State what the law in the State...

As expected, when President Obama stood in front of the SHMOTUS and the Most Powerful woman in the world last night to deliver his heath care speech, it was laden with lies and half truths. What wasn't expected was the venom toward his opponents included in his some of his remarks, here are a few highlights: .... There are now more than thirty million American citizens who cannot get coverage. WOOOH! Wait a second! What happened to 47 Million? Up until the speech he had always said there were 47 million. Mr. President I demand to know what you did...

... huge financial windfalls ObamaCare will dole out to unions—or to the provisions in the various bills in Congress that will help bring about the forced unionization of the health-care industry. ... Monopoly bargaining and compulsory union dues may quickly become a required standard resulting in potentially hundreds of thousands of doctors and nurses across the country being forced into unions ... forced unionization schemes ... taxing American workers' existing health-care benefits—but he would exempt union-negotiated health-care plans ... employers could allow a union to come in and negotiate less costly benefits than would otherwise be required.

Ask not what you can do for your country; ask what you can do for me. When it was decided that the President would address the schoolchildren of the nation in a speech this coming Tuesday, the administration's Department of Education obligingly prepared materials for teachers to help them guide classroom discussions of the speech. One suggestion, asking students to "Write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the President," caused something of a stir. The intention, the White House hastened to explain while changing the offending phraseology, was meant to stimulate children to think about how...

Joe Wilson's 15 minutes of infamy notwithstanding, Democrats were pretty rough on George W. Bush during a joint sessions a few years back. Two examples: In 2004, Democrats delivered a “Chorus Of Boos†during Bush's Bush’s State Of The Union when he called for renewal of the Patriot Act., according to the Washington Times. In 2005, Dems howled, hissed and shouted "No!" when Bush pushed for Social Security reform in the SOU: "Foreshadowing the contentiousness of the coming debate, Democrats broke decorum and booed twice," according to the National Journal. At the time, CNN's Bill Schneider remarked, “It was unusual....

“There remain some significant details to iron out.” Thus spoke the President of the United States last night, in an address in which, with a straight face, he told an awaiting nation that he was finally delivering not lofty rhetoric, but his grand plan on health care. On that score President Obama was right. It may have been, however, a bit of an understatement. Absent, of course, was how exactly all the savings he confidently predicted would materialize, how exactly the government would prevent employers from dumping all their employees into a government plan and how czars and boards would...

Like the Rev. Jeremiah Wright before him, green jobs czar Van Jones was dispatched from President Obama's inner circle once the full toxicity of his world view became widely known. Mr. Jones' departure was far more abrupt than the Rev. Wright's; Mr. Obama's handlers evidently have developed a keener sense of timing. Mr. Jones resigned Sept. 6, the Saturday in the middle of the Labor Day weekend. Many newspapers and television stations were caught flat-footed and didn't even make note of his departure. There's much for Americans to learn in the rise and fall of Van Jones. First, that Mr....
