White House press secretary Robert Gibbs blasted the president's critics today for questioning the propriety of Obama's speech to schoolchildren. "It's a sad state of affairs that many in this country politically would rather start an 'Animal House' food fight rather than inspire kids to stay in school, to work hard, to engage parents to stay involved and to ensure that the millions of teachers that are making great sacrifices continue to be the best in the world," Gibbs told reporters on Monday.

I make no determination of the validity of the so-called ebay birth certificate that purports to show Obama was born in Mombasa, Kenya. Jerome Corsi has concluded that the document is likely a forgery at this article though: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=108773 While this may end up being proven upon closer examination of the claimed document, the reasons Corsi has listed for making this determination are factually flawed and need to be reexamined. OBJECTION: The Ebay certificate identifies the hospital as "Coast Province General Hospital." Corsi considers this suspicious, because it is usually referred to as "Coast Provincial" in Kenya. TRUTH: "Coast Province...

police have targeted those who “break their fast publicly” and if caught eating or drinking anything in daylight, police have arrested them immediately, including one man who was purchasing juice for his family. That man, Ahmed Mustafa, was quoted by al-Youm al-Saba’a as saying “I was standing at the store buying juice for my children for Iftar [meal that breaks the fast],” adding that he was indeed fasting. He is just one of many citizens who have felt the heavy hand of Egyptian police during the holy month. It is part of an odd campaign launched by the interior ministry...

Former Obama green jobs czar Van Jones is gone, along with his views about whites directing poisons to minorities, his obscene condemnations of Republicans and his affiliation with the idea the U.S. government was behind 9/11. Now critics of the cadre of unvetted political appointees charged by the president with "advising" on a broad range of critical issues are looking at some of the other names with White House access. Jones' midnight-on-a-holiday-weekend resignation came after pressure over his extremist history first exposed in WND reached critical mass, set off by a tape of him in an expletive-packed rant, directly attacking...

End-times mania and wild-eyed apocalyptic predictions have long been a staple in certain sectors of the Protestant world. In addition to the more mainstream Protestant prognosticators who have made a very comfortable living off their end-times related books and broadcasts (e.g., Hal Lindsey, Jack Van Impe, and Tim LaHaye, to name but three of the more prominent ones), groups which derive from Protestantism, such as Seventh-day Adventists and Jehovah's Witnesses, also spend an inordinate amount of time and energy trying to map out the contours of the rise of the Man of Sin and the dire happenings described in...

U.S. Department of Agriculture officials shot and killed two wolves today that were linked to five attacks on livestock in the Keating Valley area of Baker County. The wolves were shot after nonlethal efforts failed to keep them from killing livestock again. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife then authorized Agriculture's Wildlife Services to kill the animals, one of which was wearing a tracking collar, from a fixed-wing aircraft. "It's unfortunate that we got to this step," Russ Morgan, wolf coordinator for Fish and Wildlife, said in a news release, "but these wolves continued to kill livestock despite our...

SHANE Herbert was 11 years old when his older brother Michael went missing on a night bombing mission in Vietnam. Yesterday, as a grown man, Shane wept as he spoke of his RAAF pilot brother whose life was cut short at 24, with his body lying in the jungle for the next 39 years. "We all lived in hope and believed no news was good news," Mr Herbert told more than 300 mourners gathered for his brother's state funeral. "My father and mother, who were younger than what I am now, I just don't know how you kept going," he...

London, England (BANG) - Brad Pitt has spent $82,000 on a home for his children's gerbils. The "Fight Club" actor - who raises six kids, Maddox, eight, Pax, five, Zahara, four, Shiloh, three, and 13-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne, with partner Angelina Jolie - oversaw the construction and design of the project, which boasts tunnels, platforms, seesaws and mazes. A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "Brad pores over architectural journals like other people pore over newspapers. He had so much fun putting the run together with his kids Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh and Pax." "It's incredibly complex and cost a...

One of the biggest myths about the great depression is that FDR's NEW Deal and the related government intervention and public works projects got us out of the Great Depression. The truth is that the New Deal did not work. Instead of creating growth in the private sector, it created government growth that squeezed out the private sector. Of course, the number one public golf course in the country Bethpage Black (where the US Open played this year) was a was a New Deal Federal works project, but that only cures MY depression, it did little for the country. As...

Rep. Barney Frank is interested in capping his political career as a member of the president’s Cabinet, according to a new biography of the Financial Services Committee chairman. Frank (D-Mass.) told author Stuart Weisberg that he would like to be Housing and Urban Development secretary. However, the 69-year-old lawmaker stresses that his departure from Congress is not imminent. He first wants to pass more legislation on affordable housing, saying, “I want at least two years with President Obama and a solidly Democratic Senate so that we can get the federal government back in the housing business.”

Just got back from the tea party and had a great time. I would guess we had about 2 to 3,000 people. I finally met jim rob at the end. Overall it was peaceful and not the angry mobs that people think of us. I have never been to anything like this before and had a wonderful time. If anything it was just nice to be around like minded people who share the same beliefs and values. I dont have any pics of myself, but if anyone was there I was the young jewish kid walking around with the american...

The evidence is in on Van Jones. He's and admitted communist, signed a petition supporting 9/11 conspiracy theories and has called Republicans a series of vulgar names, and according to Democratic strategist Donna Brazile - there's nothing wrong with that. Brazile, a CNN regular, appeared on CNN's Sept. 7 "The Situation Room," and reacted to Jones' Sept. 5 late-night resignation. ...more (w/video)...

As if to put an exclamation point on the mainstream media’s not so subtle cozy relationship with the Obama administration, none of the so-called media even bothered to cover the brewing controversy surrounding the now departed Van Jones. Despite ample evidence of Van Jones spewing highly inflammatory language on numerous excerpts of his speeches, the media some how did not find this issue worthy of curious inquiry, let alone journalistic investigation. The real test for the mainstream media will be what, if any, follow-up they will conduct on this story as there are many questions that need to be asked...
