This pastor spouts vicious rumors about Sarah Palin (affairs with other men), and trashes her family values for the situation of her pregnant daughter - all from the pulpit. Is this grounds for revocation of his tax-exempt status? It seems borderline in that he doesn't advocate for a specifc candidate...also, he is from the prosperity preacher cloth with a very questionable lifestyle himself: http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/local/baltimore_city/bal-md.ci.bryant16feb16,0,756929,full.story

With the dust still settling from McCain's surprise announcement to cease his campaign to return to the Senate, it occured to me how brilliant this move is. Predictably, Obama said "no" because he's the master of debating and will not take orders from McCain and, for McCain's part, he's criticized for using a "gimmick" to avoid having to debate Obama. There was an article two days ago (forgive my poor memory in identifying it) commenting on how it is customary for debates to be that single moment in politics when one candidate lauds the abilities of the other while downplaying...

Gore: ‘We Are Losing Badly’ in the Climate-Change Battle Mike Spector reports on the climate crisis. Former Vice President Al Gore compared climate change to the subprime mortgage crisis, saying the world could no longer rely on assumptions that carbon emissions would come without consequences. During a panel discussion at the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative Wednesday, Gore criticized moves by Wall Street to repackage mortgages into securities and said those who burn dirty fuels will also feel pain in coming years. “The current economic crisis was triggered, of course, by the sudden collapse of an assumption,” Gore...

That didn't take long...After having served less than 4 years in the US Senate and spending most of that time campaigning, Barack Obama was still able to collect $105,849 from mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. No wonder he took such a liking to Jim Johnson and Frankin Raines. Barack Obama spoke out about the mortgage crisis today: The era of greed and irresponsibility on Wall Street and in Washington has created a financial crisis... The failed economic policies and the same corrupt culture that led us into this mess will not help get us out of it....

WASHINGTON (AP) — Bruce Ivins, the Army scientist accused of carrying out the 2001 anthrax attacks, e-mailed himself last year saying he knew who the killer was, according to court documents unsealed Wednesday. "Yes! Yes! Yes!!!!!!! I finally know who mailed the anthrax letters in the fall of 2001. I've pieced it together!" Ivins wrote in the e-mail dated Sept. 7, 2007, according to an FBI affidavit. "I'm not looking forward to everybody getting dragged through the mud, but at least it will all be over," Ivins allegedly wrote. "Finally! I should have it TOTALLY nailed down within the month....

Money markets seized up once more yesterday amid deepening uncertainty about whether the US Congress will approve the Bush administrationÂ’s $700bn financial rescue plan and whether revised proposals would restore confidence. The flagging state of the markets compelled John McCain, the Republican candidate for president, to announce a suspension of his campaign, and to ask for a postponement of Friday nightÂ’s scheduled debate with Barack Obama, his Democratic opponent. US money market funds sitting on thousands of billions of dollars in assets led the stampede to safety, buying short-term government debt, selling commercial paper and withdrawing funds from the interbank...

New barrier to limit families' socializing: It was like any seaside picnic, with family members sitting on folding chairs, colorful umbrellas and a cooler full of sodas. The only unusual thing was the steel mesh fence running through the middle of it. On a recent Sunday, the Sotomayor family rose early, packed a lunch and drove south to Border Field State Park, where the fence that separates the United States from Mexico meets the ocean. As many Mexican-American families have done for years, they were there to spend the day with relatives unable to legally cross north to hug them and...

I've been seeing commercials on Fox News TV about this website. So thought I'd go over there and check it out. Notwithstanding the site seems to want to sell services to the public, the analysis there looks pretty reasonable, and their coverage "fair and balanced": Jeepers, they'll sell you a Obama/Biden bumper sticker!!! LOL! The editorial stance on this site struck me as favoring low taxes and small government. FReepers, if you have the time and interest, please go over there, then come back and tell us what you think.

CITRA, Fla. -- A 13-year-old student was killed and eight others injured when a school bus crashed and caught fire, trapping the injured children in their seats. Officials said the bus carrying 21 students from North Marion Middle School and North Marion High School was struck by a big rig Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 301 at 155th Street near Citra. As flames began to overwhelm the bus, four motorists stopped and began pulling the trapped students out of the flames. "They were heroes," Marion County School Superindent Jim Yancey said at the crash scene. "(The motorists) started pulling people...

The Bush administration today recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago. Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry. ''These two entities -- Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- are not facing any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ''The more...

Slate political reporter, Christopher Beam, has come up with a bizarre analysis of Joe Biden's many gaffes: He is immune to the effects of gaffes because he makes so many of them. I kid you not as you can read Beam's own words in defense of Biden (emphasis mine): When Joe Biden described an Obama ad attacking John McCain's inability to use a computer as "terrible," the world acted as if the Joe-pocalypse had finally arrived. Jonathan Martin of Politico called it "perhaps his most off-message statement yet." Newsday dubbed him "gaffe-a-minute Joe." National Review's Victor Davis Hanson said it...

The video features red title cards and the theme music from the movie, "The Untouchables." It accuses state Sen. John Boccieri (D-Alliance) of using "Youngstown tactics" in his campaign against state Sen. Kirk Schuring (R-Jackson Township) in the race to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Ralph Regula (R-Navarre) in Ohio's 16th Congressional District.

Immediately after John McCain's announcement 3 pm ET today, Wednesday 09/24/08, that he was suspending his campaign and seeking to postpone Friday's schedule presidential debate, SurveyUSA interviewed 1,000 adults nationwide. Key findings: A majority of Americans say the debate should be held. Just 10% say the debate should be postponed. A sizable percentage of Americans, 36%, think the focus of the debate should be modified to focus more on the economy. 3 of 4 Americans say the presidential campaign should continue. Just 14% say the presidential campaign should be suspended. If Friday's debate does not take place 46%, of Americans...

The way the media overtly tries to trip up Palin and yet gently helps Obama out of his numerous gaffes is getting nauseating ( Stephonopolis gently correcting Obama on subconsiously admitting his true faith, saying "you mean Christian faith"..and almost dead silence in media follow up) Now we already see the AP touting Sarah not being able to conjure an enclyclopedic congressional record photographic memory of McCain's record in a Katie Couric gotcha moment. I really think we should make the MSM sponsors hurt. Its their achilles heel. Something has to give here.
