The University of Mississippi community is pleased to host the first presidential debate of 2008 on September 26. Foreign policy and national security issues will be the focus of the 8:00 p.m. debate, and several related events showcase the university’s institutes and centers that are working to find solutions to this country’s challenges.

Here's the game plan kids...

Tomorrow John McCain announces that he will be at the debate but insists the debate be about DOMESTIC POLICY instead of foreign policy due to the current crisis rocking the foundations of America.

Obama won't have enough time for his ventriloguists to teach him the Clif notes version of his nonexistent policy and he'll cancel for Friday.

Barack Obama... GOING FROM VOTING PRESENT TO NOT EVEN WANTING TO BE PRESENT!

John McCain would be a fool not to be at the debate on Friday night. McCain has dominated the news cycle today and tomorrow, which is what he wanted.

Now he has to show up at the debate according to the rules that he already agreed to.

I suspect he will do this . . if he doesn’t, it will be bad news for his campaign.

Who knows, I’m just giving him advice on how he should now handle it.

Of course McCain is going to show up for the debate. He’ll probably announce it Friday afternoon and then get on a plane to make it just in time. Obama is going to look mighty small as McCain has been slogging away in DC working on this crisis while young Mr. Obama has been solely focused on his big debate.

McCain’s efforts in DC and then the ‘will he or won’t he debate’ reports will dominate the news cycle between now and the debate. It would be some kind of awesome if a deal is reached and a vote occurs while Obama is out of DC prepping for the ever so important debate. Talk about an ad ready to air. ‘Call me if you need me’. Well, Barack, in a time of crisis the country didn’t need you. It needed John McCain.

Nope. Nope. That’s not it. I’ve got it figured out. You ready? McCain NEVER wanted to have a debate on Friday because it’s a lame-duck time for people to watch. The Friday debate is supposed to be over foreign policy, right. Well, if it’s held on Friday, no one has time to talk about it at work the next day and his success in kicking Obama’s teeth in are seriously minimized by the Sunday talk-show McCain bashers so that there is NO RESULT of what should have been a bounce for him. HOWEVER, if the debate is rescheduled for, say, Monday........because it can’t be scheduled for the following Friday — they have a debate the following THURSDAY! Also, I think McCain has figured out by now that the media are NEVER going to give him a fair shake, plus Obama has demonstrated today by bringing Biden out on foreign policy attacks, so he’s decided that the media is going to trash him and his Friday results over the weekend and do him more harm than good. I think while McCain realizes he’s super-qualified in foreign policy, the media will never let him own it, so he canceled the d@mn thing and is moving on to greener pastures when he can clobber Obama with weekday audiences and let us talk about it for a few days before the media gets their turn. THAT is what just happened. He had to negotiate a crummy deal for his foreign policy night so he could have better viewership later on in a more comfortable setting. BRILLIANT!!

BTW, I was at the DUmmy site a minute ago. They are FREAKING OUT about this. They KNOW something is up. Shakin’ and quakin’.

Send Sarah Palin to the debate Friday night.

They want to say she's not prepared to step up to President should the need arise.  I believe she would do just fine, especially in an open debate format.

Time for a 'Hail Mary' in this campaign, so let's watch as Sarah mops the floor with BHO!

Anyone in the McCain/Palin camp listening?  :-)

Do you think that these debates can be held anywhere other than a pro-Obambi setting? I’m sick of all of these things happening at a University setting. Especially one where his demographics are high.

Barry has been studying for a foreign policy debate so McCain should insist that any debate that’s held be about domestic issues. Obama won’t have enough time to cram and will have to write his answers on his arm. If he comes out with his shirt sleeves rolled up, you’ll know I’m right.

Don’t underestimate the students at southern universities. My class at Texas Tech yesterday nearly crucified a liberal professor for his pro-Obama/anti-Palin rant. It was hilarious. He thought, as many do, that since he was talking to students he was talking to like-minded liberals. He figured out real quick he needed to back away slowly before he got hurt!

The University of Mississippi is probably the most pro-McCain public university in America.

John McCain doesn’t have anything better to do at 9 pm on Friday night, so he best high tail it over there and trounce Barack Obama with half his brain tied behind his back.

McCain will shine on foreign affairs.

No matter where they’re held, you’ll still have the media running the show and everyone with an IQ over 50 knows whose side they’re on.

Especially since he's showing up at Bill Clinton's (phooey) Clinton Global Initiative conference between now and Friday night.

If there is time to rub elbows with Bono, there is time to debate.

I think this works, assuming McCaine can get anything done in DC on thurs. The dims will have the knives out. The only good is that this should be out in the light of day, (roaches hate light).
Woudn’t it would be fun to see him name names.

Yes, I agree. A no-show would be a disaster, IMO.

McCain wants everyone to know he and Palin want to change politics as usual. This is unusual but something bigger is going on. The Dems. want to take lots of tax money to cover for their friends.

Plus I think all the drama surrounding this debate is sure to increase viewership.

On another note, do you think it’s possible that we could convince Barry to get all the other Democrats to either vote present or not show up for any votes at all? Maybe then America would stand a chance of surviving this mess.

And where are the Illinois FReepers? Why aren’t you suing Barry to get his Senate pay returned to the treasury since he hasn’t earned a dime of it?
