Friday, March 21, 2008 Happy Liberation Day, Iraq Exclusive: Melanie Morgan pounds 'peace' protesters whose violence knows no end By Melanie Morgan I headed to Berkeley first thing Wednesday morning. Thousands of anti-war agitators promised to shut down cities on this anniversary of America's campaign to liberate Iraq and fight radical Muslims who want to cut our throats here at home. I was pleased to see a strong presence of Berkeley police standing in front of the Marine recruiting center that "peace" activists have attacked at the urging of the Berkeley City Council. I would have been happier if U.S....

Soros and the Democratic Party By Sandhya Jain In Serbia, until the 1999 NATO bombings to subdue Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, the Soros Fund operated a Civil Centre in Pristina, Kosovo, to fight for the national independence of the Albanian Muslim majority. In Belgrade, it operated ‘Radio B-92,’ which played a major role in the anti-Milosevic student riots in 1996-7. The recent spate of articles in American media savaging Senator Barack Obama, all by White Americans (naturally), and keeping Hillary Clinton’s candidature alive in the face of obvious public yearning for change, suggests heavy duty behind-the-scenes manoeuvres by corporate America....

Francescon recalled recently. When he told the girl he had already been to Iraq twice, she was shocked."And you survived?" she asked."Her automatic thought was anybody going (to Iraq) wouldn't survive,"...

The prospect of a happy racial reconciliation that would be started on the national convention’s rostrum in Denver late in August is dimmed because the bitter battle for the nomination will not end anytime soon. In the worst nightmare scenario for Democrats, they could be fighting right into Denver.

ATLANTA (AP) -- A federal appeals court has dismissed a lawsuit against the Democratic National Committee over the party's decision to strip Florida of its delegates to its national convention. But today's decision by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals gives the challengers an opening to revisit the lawsuit and carry on the legal challenge. Victor DiMaio, a Democratic Party activist from Tampa, filed the lawsuit in 2007. He accused the party of disenfranchising Florida's Democratic voters by barring them from having their say in choosing their party's nominee. The Democratic National Commitee argued the party has the right...

New research into inter-ethnic unions suggests we're reverting to a less romantic idea of marriage I grew up in a traditional Chinese household, where I was taught my future life partner must have an equal, if not better, upbringing than mine. That mentality is embedded in the ancient saying, "A bamboo door should match a bamboo door; a wood door should match a wood door." Essentially, what it means is you have to marry someone in the same social class if you want the relationship to last. The Chinese are not alone in this worldview. Many Indians are still bound...

A 13-year-old boy was wounded in a terrorist attack near Hebron Thursday evening, and at least three rockets rained down on the Negev Friday morning, shattering an uneasy calm. The attacks came as the Jews of Israel and the world - along with their friends - had begun celebrating the weekend holiday of Purim - their deliverance from an unending train of enemies, beginning with Haman of ancient Persia - present-day Iran. According to reports, the attack Thursday evening was a roadside explosive charge detonated as a car drove by, sending shrapnel into the body of the boy and leaving...

There are 93 US companies at risk of defaulting on $53 billion in debts, marking a 50 percent jump since last June, when the credit crisis started. Many of these debt-laden companies were involved in giant leveraged buyouts. Standard & Poor’s ‘‘weakest links’’ report is forecasting that 75 US companies will default on their debts in the next 12 months. Of the 93 companies at risk, more than half were involved in takeovers by big-name private equity firms, including Boston’s Thomas H. Lee Partners, Bain Capital, and J.W. Childs Associates. “The Big ‘Why’ Question” (Matthew 27:45-46)Why? The question is as profound as it is short. Why? Who, what, when, and where--those are usually easy to answer. But “why,” that is the big question. That’s the case today with our Gospel reading. Who? Jesus of Nazareth, a Roman governor and soldiers, the Jewish religious leaders. What? Jesus is beaten, mocked, and crucified. When? On this day we call Good Friday, close to 2000 years ago. Where? A place called Golgotha, just outside Jerusalem. But then the question, “why,” that’s a little harder to answer. Why did things happen as they did?...

The mayor thinks the extended nomination contest has distracted potential donors. DENVER -- The long and winding fight for the Democratic presidential nomination is giving a fundraising migraine to the Mile High City. As the host city, Denver must raise $40.6 million by June 16 for the party's Aug. 25-28 convention. This week, the host committee missed its second fundraising deadline, and Mayor John W. Hickenlooper said he believed the drawn-out battle between Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and Barack Obama of Illinois had distracted potential donors. "I think there's still so much focus around who the candidate...

He divested himself of his stake in...
