We've done it before. Let's do it again. Let's show them what the mighty chorus of a thousand voices on the net can do for the cause of Freedom and Equal Justice under the Law. Muster all you Freeper Power and e-mail Congressmen Barr and Hoekstra and others, about the Don Adams Story. If it remains a local phenomenon, he will not get Justice at his trial this Thursday, July 8. I urge you to spread the word to have congress review the corrupt legal handling of the matter. Shine the light of Justice and the Constitution upon the now ...

July 6, 1999 Congressional committee takes on the tip of the corporate welfare iceberg By Ralph Nader The first-ever Congressional hearings critical of corporate welfare the hundreds of billions of dollars given annually in subsidies, bailouts, giveaways, tax escapes, etc. were held June 30th by House Budget Committee Chairman John Kasich (R-Ohio). And most of the major media organizations did not show up. But C-SPAN did and relayed a remarkable array of witnesses and testimony to the American people who are paying these bills. The Kasich hearing was public education by Congress at its best. No sound bites. Instead ...

Race killings suspect ex-member of church for 'sociopaths' Tuesday, July 6, 1999 Associated Press EAST PEORIA, Ill. - It styles itself as a religion, but the World Church of the Creator - to which alleged racist killer Benjamin Nathaniel Smith once belonged - has no altar and no place of worship. Its leader is a skinny 27-year-old who reaches members mainly through an Internet site dripping with racism and maintained from a swastika-adorned room in his parents' East Peoria home. An Israeli flag serves as his doormat. All that's needed to join the church is $35. For that, members ...

Stigmatizing blacks rightly draws fire Gregory Kane Gregory Kane JARED TAYLOR sat on the end seat of the four-guest panel for the taping of Kweisi Mfume's "The Bottom Line" television show. He identified himself as the "token white" taking part in a discussion about a recent magazine cover story on the state of black America. Also on the panel was syndicated columnist Julianne Malveaux: gorgeous and a fierce debater and defender of liberal causes. Rounding out the in-studio guests were conservative Robert George and some Baltimore columnist with an oversized forehead. Newsweek writer Ellis Cose joined in ...

Happy Independence Day! Let me get right to the point. Borrowing from former President Cory Aquino of the Philippines, I've chosen the 223rd anniversary of American independence to say that, if those who want me to do it will collect 1,000,000 petition signatures to convince me I'm not wasting everybody's time and energy, I'll run for President of the United States in the year 2000 as an independent. Decades ago, when I was my nine-year-old daughter's age, I calculated that I'd be 53 years old when the year 2000 arrived. I envisioned a brilliant, colorful future, ...

The key to Bush's $36 million http://www.jewishworldreview.com -- THE MEDIA'S UNIFORM CRY of disbelief at George W's unprecedented fund- raising efforts reveals just how out of touch they are about a phenomenon they've been instrumental in perpetuating: Bill Clinton's contamination of the American presidency. It also shows just how blind they are to the magnetic qualities of Gov.Bush. First, the Clinton factor: Bush is popular in his own right, but a major part of his attraction is his contrasting decency to that of the current administration. A great majority of the electorate is putting its hope in W to ...

"THIS JUST IN" (STILL DOIN' ITS THING) © by Norman Liebmann The late Adlai Stevenson III, a man of singular wit and courtliness, wrung a lot of irony out of an old expression by standing it on its head, when he admonished a clod - "Don't just do something. Stand there!" Except for their customary posture (roosting), he might well have been addressing his jest to the three network anchormen, who five evenings a week reinforce the legend of their dereliction, the hallucination that it's not easy to come up with data of such piffling ilk on a regular basis. ...

Moral outrage? Just shrug it off . Why don’t we care about justice? By Deroy Murdock MSNBC CONTRIBUTOR NEW YORK, June 18 — Boxer Mike Tyson is free after serving just four months of a one-year prison sentence for socking another motorist and kicking his passenger in the groin after a fender-bender last August. At that time, he was on probation for a 1992 rape. Who cares? Tyson left jail early despite having hurled a TV at guards in a recreation room. Last October, Nevada officials reinstated the boxing license Tyson lost after biting Evander Holyfield’s ear in a ...

Well Juanita, start packing our stuff We have been here long enough Grab our 10 ninos, we're well on the way And we'll cross over the border today Our first stop's the DMV…more illegals we will see There's no fear we'll have to flee…we're getting our license Then in the welfare line we will wait I told you, honey, this country's great They are all suckers, man I love this place There's no more need to worry that police will use mace Our first stop's ...

Where have all those thousands upon thousands of tourists gone? Inside, of course, to escape the 105 degree temperature forecast for today. There were a few hearty souls out and, at one time, there were 3 dozen visitors in front of the White House. For the most part, however, the visiting groups were few and far between. Even Lafayette Park was practically empty, with only a few people scattered about on the benches or in the grassy shade. I was thinking of wimping out like most of the tourists and staying in my air-conditioned office with my fan on "High" ...

Worker Wins Compensation For Being Promoted BIRMINGHAM, England (Reuters) - A British office worker was awarded more than $100,000 in compensation for job-related stress because she became depressed after being promoted against her will. Former Birmingham City clerical worker Beverley Lancaster, 44, retired on health grounds after being appointed to a more senior post, a court heard. She said the city council broke promises to offer her training and support for the senior job, for which she had no experience or qualifications. After being promoted in 1993, she was repeatedly off sick before she retired in 1997. Judge Frances Kirkham ...

Civil Move on States' Rights While Americans enjoyed Fourth of July festivities, they probably gave scarcely a thought to something that has shaped their country from its beginning, sometimes explosively. It spawned the earliest political parties, crescendoed into the Civil War, and wove its way into the long struggle for civil rights. In a word, it's federalism - the often tense division of power between state capitals and Washington. It resurfaced with some force recently in a trio of Supreme Court decisions. The court was weighing whether to allow lawsuits against states for patent infringement, unfair competition, and noncompliance ...

NATO's Kosovo campaign touches nerve in the Caucasus BAKU, Jul 6, 1999 -- (Agence France Presse) NATO's campaign to halt Serb repression in Kosovo has resonated beyond the Balkans to the troubled Caucasus, where governments are grappling with the implications of the Yugoslav war for their own minorities. Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia are all laying claim to the role of victim, arguing that if NATO were to intervene, it would be to support them against aggression. "I believe that a NATO operation in the Caucasus would be desirable," Azeri foreign policy aide Vafa Gulizade told AFP. "Azerbaijan has undergone ...

The Al Gore For President campaign (under the leadership of Tony Coelho--who resigned in disgrace from the U.S. House of Represenatives) has taken on another inspiring leader named Carter Eskew. This, in turn, inspired the following enthusiasm from Republican National Chairman Jim Nicholson: "With Bill Clinton second-guessing him, Hillary Clinton upstaging him, and Bill Bradley nipping at his heels, Al Gore jumped off the anti-tobacco wagon and reached for a cigarette to help calm his nerves--or to big tobacco, anyway, hiring its most famous media guru since the days of the Marlboro Man, to help salvage his gaffe-a-day candidacy. ...

Environmental activists who have fought for decades to preserve north Orange County's Coal Canyon are the closest they've ever been to their goal: purchasing and preserving the biologically rich canyon and barring development. A $2 million grant from the Davis administration and the Legislature, agreed to last week, brought the environmental activists' anticipated total funds to $18.5 million - some already collected, some expected later this month. And the property owner, the St. Clair Co., is willing to sell all or part of its 660-acre property. "If we could move forward and strike a deal with state parks, it ...
