Each opinion has its own take and each side, brimming with conviction, is convinced that their theories are the superior syllogism in this debate. Contrails are the white/silver cloud-like wake that follows behind an ...

WASHINGTON (AP) --The Clinton administration has decided to remove the bald eagle from the Endangered Species list, concluding that the national bird has fully recovered, Interior department officials said Thursday. The eagle was near extinction in the 1960s and began its recovery after the banning of the pesticide DDT in 1972. The chemical had been a primary source of eagle mortality. "We're going to take the bird off. The eagle is at a point where it's made a full recovery," Interior spokesman John Wright said. Administration sources, who spoke on condition of not being further identified, said there are plans ...

DECISION BRIEF 15 June 1999 Clinton Intel Panel Confirms that D.O.E. Security Melt-down, Begat by Hazel O'Leary, Continues Under Bill Richardson (Washington, D.C.): Today, the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board (PFIAB) released the findings of its 90-day study of security issues at the Department of Energy. Although the report itself was unavailable at this writing, press reports indicate that the PFIAB analysis not only paints a grim picture of past breaches of the most basic procedures for safeguarding classified nuclear weapons data. It also reveals that the gross disregard for elementary physical, information and personnel security -- encouraged by ...

Time To Consider That New Tool Politics: A Woman's View We're Voting for the Constitution here! Heads Up A Weekly View from the Foothills of Appalachia by: Doug Fiedor Previous Editions at: UHUH and HEADS UP TIME TO CONSIDER THAT NEW TOOL There is a lot of gun news out there lately and, truthfully, most of it is bad. No, it's not people shooting up things, either. One in one-hundred-million gun owners may do that once in a while, just as some may cause havoc with automobiles. There are evil and crazy people around, and that is a ...

PRISTINA, June 17 (Reuters) - British forces on Thursday cordoned off a Serb-run police station in the centre of the Kosovan provincial capital Pristina where they said a torture chamber for the interrogation of prisoners had been found. A British military spokesman said investigators from United Nations war crimes tribunal in the Hague had been called to the site and had taken away documents and instruments used in interrogations.,p> ``We have found what we believe is strong evidence of the systematic torture of prisoners by (Yugoslav President Slobodan) Milosevic's police in a cellar,'' the spokesman told reporters. NATO troops have ...

For education and discussion only. Not for commercial use. BEIJING - For the World Bank's high-powered experts, the plan to give 58,000 poor farmers a better life by moving them westward seemed like a no-brainer, the kind of project the bank has used to help hundreds of thousands elsewhere in China escape poverty. Through three years of planning, the bank never foresaw the fury that moving Chinese farmers into Tibetan lands would bring. Now, with a bank board vote on the proposal days away, Tibet lobbying groups have likened the plan to ethnic purges. The Dalai Lama has appealed for ...

ArtificialEconomy The Artificial Economy Copyright © 1999 Lance Struthers (may be freely distributed) What wonderful illusions we have created for our magic show. Our money is managed, not by we individuals, but by the Glowbullist Federal Reserve System and its member banks, in league with the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and subservient other International/Glowbull banks. Is this really acceptable by American Citizens who worked for their money, or are they just "going along" because it's easier than challenging the arrogant of power? Pretenses of credit, the invisible electrons of wealth in today's USA, cannot ...

Kansas conservatives vs. AP bias By John D. Altevogt Newspapers have been full of plaudits lately for retiring Associated Press correspondent Lew Ferguson. Journalists I respect praise Ferguson for being a fair, knowledgeable reporter, and referred to his Topeka bureau as Lew's Finishing School for Boy and Girl Reporters. Unfortunately, this is not the Lew Ferguson I'm familiar with. The AP Topeka bureau I'm familiar with is widely perceived by conservatives as an integral part of the movement to eliminate social conservatives from Kansas politics. And Ferguson's protege and replacement, John Hanna, sometimes referred to among other reporters as "Little ...

A Policy Of Engagement-- With Our Children Here's how I understand the liberal of today: If we could just prescribe for our kids more Ritalin and Prozac, have v-chips on TVs, parental screens on the Internet, and safety locks on guns everything would be just fine. Why is it so hard to admit that parents aren't spending enough time with their kids? Why do we keep brain-washing each other that "quality time" is better for families than "quantity time"? Since when has anything been improved with less personal time? Some smart guy (gal?) figured out about twenty-five years ago that ...

I am currently working on my second screenplay parody, the follow-up to my "Citizen Clinton" piece. I hope to finish it sometime next week, and I am looking to post it in five parts. Unfortunately, I am not sure that Free Republic is the place for this sort of stuff anymore. Earlier today, I started a dopey thread titled "Naked Gay Marine Bans NRA’s 10 Commandments in NWO Nod to KLA Contrails during Y2K Test". I thought this was a rather innocuous joke - a comment on today’s various topics. Well, apparently the Free Republic thought police objected and ...

Now that the Kosovo War — or “conflict” as the White House insisted on calling it before it was settled — is over, some killjoys are bound to interrupt the continuous gloat coming from Bill Clinton’s friends and actually count the costs of the operation. It will be harder to calculate the ways our own military has been degraded by the Clinton/Madeleine Albright adventure. The financial costs of depleting our cruise missile stores, stretching an Air Force already scrambling for spare parts and the strain of yet another deployment on the most deployed military in the history of the ...

PRISTINA, Yugoslavia (AP) - Accounts of brutality in Kosovo emerged Thursday in different tones - the stunned, flat voice of a teen-age girl and the measured sentences of a British official - but they both told of irrational savagery mixed with careful planning. Just six days into the international military presence in Kosovo, officials have discovered so many mass graves and killing sites and heard so many wrenching accounts of atrocities that they now estimate at least 10,000 people were killed in the Serb crackdown against Kosovo Albanians which began shortly before NATO began its 78-day air bombardment March 24. ...

The following was posted on another forum....the author wishes to remain anonymous..to protect his job and family and friends.....you make the call! I just discovered this board on a link from a Gary North forum. I've never paid much attention to Y2K web forums, so I'm not completely familiar with some of your terms like trolling, but I think I get the picture. I am posting here because I do have some information that I think you may find pertinent, but before I do allow me to present my background as it may have a bearing on credibility, which many ...

Money: They rage against labor leaders for pushing legislation forcing them to pay for representation, which most do not. Senate has OKd plan. California State University professors are spoiling for another labor fight. This time, it's not against the administration, but their own union. A growing number of faculty members are hopping mad at a bill speeding through the Legislature that would force about 74,000 Cal State and University of California employees to pay union dues or donate an equivalent amount to charity for at least four years. "Is this a new form of government?" asks Chris Freiling, a ...

This is from a much longer article regarding other issues that I posted several months ago. I know there are several, much more complete, such mini-tutorials for beginning Freepers buried in the old Topics lists somewhere. It might be a generous gesture to move any good ones to the new topics area. (May I suggest /Miscellaneous/FreeRepublic/Normal with keywords like HTML, Help, Free Republic, Beginner.) *** And, finally, a little personal rave. Looking at as many posts as I have in the last few weeks reminds me of my first few efforts at posting here. The average person who wants his ...
