According to the Internet, the last time the Republicans had the Presidency and both houses of congress was 1928. That's 88 years ago!
In 2010 President Obama called it a "Shellacking" when he lost the US House. When he lost the US Senate on top of that in 2014 the press said he was unrepentant.
Now Obama and the Democrats have lost all three plus lost control in more state legislatures and governorships than in a long time.
In short, the Democrats had a Blowout and the Question is whether they will learn from it and turn from the hard leftist path they have been on with Obama.
So far, it doesn't look like it.
I believe that during W’s term(s) there was a period where HE had the House and the Senate and the martha-farging bastiges did nothing with it.
Didn’t 43 have both Senate and House?
the last time the Republicans had the Presidency and both houses of congress was 1928. ................................. Yes, but a year later? Lets not go there this time around.
“Is America sick enough of them yet? “......
Yes, America is sick of them but unfortunately they will NEVER be gone until they are all six feet under, which cannot come any too soon.
The internet can be WRONG!
He did have control of both Houses in 2001 but decided because the election was so close and Gore won the popular vote to “share” the leadership of the Congress with the Dems by allowing them to have equal power as Co Chairs.
Stupid, REALLY stupid move.
“the Question is whether they will learn from it and turn from the hard leftist path they have been on with Obama.”
I think a bigger question is will the American voter learn from it, and the answer is: probably not.
I distinctly remember a period in W’s tenure Republicans had all three.
Once in a few generation opportunity for Trump, McConnell and Ryan. I would take:
1. Demolish both Obamacare and Dodd-Frank.
2. 2 young conservative justices on the SCOTUS to establish a 6-3 balance for at least 20 years. 7-2 would be icing on the cake.
3. Tax reduction and reform at all levels.
4. Drill, baby, drill — bigly.
5. Undo all Obama executive orders.
6. A wall, and all that comes with minimizing immigration, except for those who are coming here with a high level of skills we need.
7. Rebuild and bigly modernize the military.
8. Undo the Iran deal.
No, they will not ‘learn’ from it. They never have and they never do.
To a leftist, the only answer is an even more leftward tilt. As T. Mcauliff said when they lost the 2004 elections, “We didn’t go liberal enough!”...............
Like I said = did nothing with it, but the statement in the OP is wrong.
I though W had both for a least a while.
I believe that during Ws term(s) there was a period where HE had the House and the Senate and the martha-farging bastiges did nothing with it.
The dems can’t learn from this. Being nutjob kooks is the foundation of the “religion substitute” they have created for themselves. They’re too educated, open-minded and superior to be part of a real religion.
You can't teach an old commie new tricks...
Yes. w had Republican congresses 2003 - 2007. They wasted the opportunity. But they had control.
9. Get the USA out of its submissive, sugar-mommy relationship with the UN.
10. Quietly suggest that the CIA to make the Soros problem go away.
I voted for the man twice, but I am ashamed of it. I am particularly vexed that what we got from that 8 years was Obama, the TSA and the DHS.......what a frigging thrill, huh?
