ANTI-KERRY VETS HANG TOUGH
Drudge Report ^ | Fri Aug 06 2004 13:37:12 ET

Posted on 08/06/2004 10:51:08 AM PDT by Brian Mosely

The following statement from Swift Boat Veterans for Truth concerns an article appearing in morning edition of the Boston Globe:

"Viet Vet Captain George Elliott describes an article appearing in today’s edition of the Boston Globe by Mike Kranish as extremely inaccurate and highly misstating his actual views. He reaffirms his statement in the current advertisement paid for by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, Captain Elliott reaffirms his affidavit in support of that advertisement, and he reaffirms his request that he ad be played.

“Additional documentation will follow.

The article by Mr. Kranish is particularly surprising given page 102 of Mr. Kranish’s own book quoting John Kerry as acknowledging that he killed a single, wounded, fleeing Viet Cong soldier whom he was afraid would turn around.

“Swift Boat Veterans for Truth has more than 250 supporters who are revealing first hand, eyewitness accounts of numerous incidents concerning John Kerry’s military service record. The organization will continue to discuss much of what John Kerry has reported as fact concerning his four-month tour of duty in Vietnam.”

There are thousands just like me.Some on this forum and most in todays society do not understand how personal this is with vets of my generation. Republican, democrat or independent, we all share a loathing for John Kerry. We will continue to do so, even after he is long gone, and we will carry this to our graves.

You hit the nail on the head. I was at a FReep of John Edwards arrival in Jacksonville, Fl, this past Monday and I was holding my anti-Kerry Vietnam signs and wearing my "Stop Hanoi John Kerry 2004" . One of the Bush supporters (there were about 65 of us), a lady in her 30's, stated "I don't have a problem with what Kerry did to protest the war. This is America and it's free speech. I don't want him raising my insurance costs and making my business go bankrupt because of trial lawyers and regulation." I about lost it! I emotionally explained to her what Kerry's words and actions did to a whole generation of GI's. About how many lived in shame for many years and some are still living that way. I explained to her how Kerry's using Vietnam as his main qualification is like re-opening those wounds and pouring salt right in there. She could see the look in my eyes. Although she didn't say much after that, I am quite sure she got it.

There was also an young (late 20's) active duty sailor there at the FReep. He said he knows all about Kerry and his betrayal of Vietnam Veterans. He learned it from his dad, whom he said hates Kerry with a passion. I suspect his dad is a lot like me, and I am glad to know that he has taught his children about him. I think Kerry did us all a favor by portraying himself a war hero. It is motivating our whole generation to make our voices heard and tell everyone the TRUTH about Hanoi John!

I can't DESCRIBE the amount of sheer LOATHING I feel for this "man"! It rivals what I feel for the Clintoon! Soon, our President is going to trod Freakin' Kerry underfoot, then scrape him off the bottom of his cowboy boot, like chewing gum, then throw him in the trash! (I REALLY have something else in mind, instead of gum, but I'd better not say it!!)

It is hard for some to understand, but the Swifties are doing a good job at getting the point across.

They need all the help we can give them however.

The nations media refuses to get the point of our argument and is standing in the way. They see it as a partisan attack.

It is personal, but it is not partisan. If Bush had done what Kerry did, he would be on the recieving end of this now. Or, he never would have been elected.

the kerry campaign is incompent.

Items put into evidence:

Item #1: The convention and the post convention 'thud'.
Item #2: The bunny suit, followed by the allegations of the 'republican smear job' which were proven false. But the controversy kept the pic in the news 2-3 times as long as it would have otherwise.
Item #3: Swift vets ad. The lawyer letter and the fake 'retraction' story are giving this ad much more coverage than it would have received otherwise.

I expect the incompetence to continue for the next 3 months, after which the dems will all get media jobs and try to explain how bush stole the 2004 election, too.

My husband has said these guys are tough, determined, they won't fold, and they won't be silenced.

And, they had to know the savage attack they would come under, for what they are attempting to do is destroy the candidacy of the Democratic party. But none of us could know how quickly the media would, in unison, jump in to help Kerry destroy the credibility of these brave men.

Pundits, anchors, talking heads and reporters spent all day yesterday putting out the official talking point, that these men weren't even on Kerry's boat. No one bothered to challenge that silly statement and tell viewers they never claimed to be. Keith Oberman of MSNBC was totally dismissive of these men. Susan Estrich was almost out of control in her anger, and Ron Reagan discredited them too.

Unbelieveably, today on CNN Crossfire, Donna Brazille said these were the same men who came out against John McCain and Max Cleland in 2000. She and Ann Lewis were almost in orbit, fiercely and irrationally making charges against these veterans.

But don't worry, if my husband is right, the courage these men had in Viet Nam is still with them. And I think the over the top reaction they've gotten from the Kerry camp will backfire on him.

the one thing disappointing to me is how tepid the support they got from Brit Hume last night. Even Pat Buchanan called for an independent investigation into the charges, with Kerry having to face the issue squarely under questioning by someone like Tim Russert.

But I think FOXNews lacks courage itself. They are under such attack themselves, they don't want to give the left any ammunition to use against them, and voicing support for the swiftboat vets would certainly get criticism.

"Honest reporting" has totally gone out the window. When you look around, the Kranishes (Kerry supporter), the Campbell Browns (White House "correspondent" - unashamedly biased from Democrat political family), the Rathers, Jennings, Brokaws, UPI, Reuters, etc....

In a communist country, these "usefull idiots" would be the first to "go"!

I don't think so. These are apparatchiks who would, with the possible exception of Brokaw, probably ingratiate themselves with a totalitarian regime especially a Marxist regime. They are opportunists. They would be an arm of that regime, and they would receive its full benefits.

There is a receptivity to this way of thinking in our secularized society. Long-time, internal morality guides such as conscience and religion are no longer seen by many (fed by the media) as desirable - the very condition that Marxists desire to radically alter the society.

I'm not sure what to make of this.
Kerry Cover-up-Kerry Cover-up

Kerry Quietly Changes Biography After Records Released http://www.tinyvital.com/BlogArchives/000802.html More on the Kerry Cover-Up http://www.tinyvital.com/BlogArchives/000803.html
As revealed here, John Kerry has tried to cover that while a sworn officer in the Navy Reserve he participated in VVAW anti-war activities and made his notorious speech to the U.S. Senate.

Until the release of his records, Kerry's biography showed his military service as:

1966-1970 Navy
1972-1978 Naval Reserve

This leaves a gap of 2 years not showing any service during his anti-war activities.

He also convinced the Boston Globe that he received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1970, which had it been true would have meant he was no longer a military officer.

All of this is an obvious cover-up of his actual service. It should have read:

1966-1970 Navy
1970-1978 Navy Reserve

Not only was Kerry a sworn officer in the Naval Reserve throughout his activities, he was an Active Duty officer while he flew an anti-war operative around to give speeches.

Since his records were published, showing his history to be false, some of his biographies on the internet have been quietly changed (as discussed in the referenced article).

---John Kerry flew Walinsky around New York to deliver speeches against the war. Kerry did not wear his uniform and did not speak at the events, but the experience helped convince him that he wanted to become a public leader of the antiwar movement. On Jan. 3, 1970, Kerry requested that his superior, Rear Admiral Walter F. Schlech, Jr., grant him an early discharge so that he could run for Congress on an antiwar platform.

"I just said to the admiral: `I've got to get out. I've got to go do what I came back here to do, which is, end this thing,'" Kerry recalled, referring to the war. The request was approved, and Kerry was honorably discharged, which he said shaved six months from his commitment.

For the record, Jim Angle on FOX just reported at 6:30 the Boston Globe story which touted the "retraction" by Capt. Elliot. They did not update that story with the objection by Capt. Elliot and the vets earlier this afternoon that the story is completely false nor did they expose the Globe reporter for being on the Kerry payroll.

FOX is in bed with the rest of the media on this one. They are determined to spike it.

Sad. At one time I thought we had one major honest news source. No more. FOX is as bad as the rest of them. I'm turning my TV off for any kind of news.

A pox on FOX!

The doctor who examined Kerry's first wound has issued a statement as well: (from NRO)

LEWIS LETSON EXPLAINS KERRY'S WOUND [08/06 03:33 PM]

Lewis Letson, who discusses Kerry’s wound in the Swift Boat Vets’ ad, is appearing on NRANews.com with me.

“I am the doctor [who treated Kerry],” he said. “Let me explain that. My critics are pointing to the [signature on the medical record], J.C. Carreon. If they look it carefully a scribble after the words, saying, “HM1.” HM1 is a hospital man first class. Jesus C. Carreon was one of my medics at that naval base. He was a top-notch fella. Real prince of a fella.”

“Unfortunately, my friend Carreon died about 1992. He’s not around to back this up,” he said.

“Kerry might have thought my name was J.C. Carreon. I was the only medical officer at that base. September 68 to Sept. 1969. I can verify that with commanding officer.”

“I didn’t want to be a public figure. This has its downside, don’t have any desire to be notorious. This has some ill effects on an individual and my family. I had TV crew on my front lawn in the last hour, they just appeared at my house and rang my doorbell.”

I have to say this is very troubling to me. Especially when I listened to Rush go off saying this is 'nuclear', on this today. I really hope and pray that FOXNEWS has not turned to the dark side.

I can think of a couple of plausible explanations and I would like anyone to respond.

1. This is a means of keeping this story 'alive' for one more day, i.e. it gives FOXNEWS a chance tomorrow to report the Swift vets denial and possibly have him on TV (and show the commercial again), of an obvious lie by the Globe.
2. Maybe the White House asked them to spike it for internal poll reasons?

Whatever the reason, it is really kicking me in the gut. I am totally stressed out about this. I am so g**damn angry at Kerry, I wanna get in my truck and follow the traitor around and scream at the top of my lungs,TRAITOR! at him at every stop he makes.

My blood is boiling and it's gonna be another sleepless night. I know there are many guys feeling the same... or am I alone in this outrage??

I look forward to hearing from any of you out there in FReeperland.

They chart their strategy to roll back the Bush tax cuts and use the savings to provide funding for their health care plan, education reform, and other initiatives

Tax increases are now "savings"? I guess in the same way that the cuts were "spending".
