Tea Party is mostly sentiment, that’s why it’s not Republican Party or a third party.
Tea Party-types like Sam Clovis, and he seems to me to be gaining a bit as a viable candidate, but seemed just symbolic when he first declared.
The state party organization has tried to move the primary from June to July, giving sure-thing Democrat nominee an extra month advantage in the general election race.
Make sure Texas conservatives also rub a green party candidate like dems had a libertarian bs candidate in Virginia.
Noted.
Thanks.
.
Really? I used to think he was rock solid. But now I think he looks like a weasel.
Good call, thanks.
Unfortunately, I think the filing date for a challenger is November 9th...I think that's what someone posted, recently. I was hoping Louie Gohmert would've run.
Jeff Sessions is the leader of the GOP in 2014 when it comes to the election. Cotton should get Sessions and Vitter to campaign for him instead of Rubio.
I got an email from Karl Rove talking about great candidates in Michigan, West Virginia and Arkansas. I know he means Capito and Cotton.
Who is he promoting in Michigan?
Mike Rogers
Virginia just elected the most liberal candidate I believe ever. Oh and we may just lose the AG race. I am shocked nobody is discussing this today.
Former Establishment GOP Senator turned Obama endorsing douchebag Larry Pressler is exploring an independent run for Senate in South Dakota.
Trying to pull a variation of the Crist maneuverer and becomes Rounds main challenger? Or is it just part of operation “Elect the democrat”?
I think I may owe an apology to the late Bill Janklow. Pressler is a total flake.
Why? Did you call him a bigger flake? I think it was pretty close.
I thought Janklow’s attempts to sandbag Pressler (as he did with Jim Abdnor) were wrongheaded. Pressler has turned out to be a dunce and a twit. Obviously, Janklow knew that. Of course, Pressler’s bizarre swing back and forth from right to left should’ve been the giveaway. That and the time he mistakenly opened the door to a closet and stepped inside and stayed there for longer than he should have.
Do you mean the 2002 race for Congress?
Did Janklow only run because Pressler did? If so (and even considered what became of Janklow) he did us a favor.
” That and the time he mistakenly opened the door to a closet and stepped inside and stayed there for longer than he should have.”
A true WTF moment to be sure.
Yeah, 2002 and probably 1996 as well when he lost the Senate race for a 4th term. I can’t remember which candidate declared first for the open House seat. Neither one of them should’ve run, especially given the huge farm team of SD Republicans.
Eh, did Janklow consider primarying Pressler in ‘96 like he did with Abbnor?
Doubtful, since he’d just knocked off the incumbent GOP Governor in 1994 (a decent fella named Walter Miller, who had certainly earned the job — he had been elevated from Lt Gov after George Mickelson died in a plane crash). What specific role he played as Governor in toppling Pressler I can’t say, but we already know he was quite happy to see Democrats win other offices so they didn’t crowd him as top Republican (I mean did you ever see him actively and aggressively challenge Daschle ? Of course not. Daschle, in fact, was a character witness for Janklow at his vehicular homicide trial).
