UNREAL. Obama May Allow US Soldiers to be Tried in the Hague

Unreal. Team Obama may allow US soldiers to be tried in the Hague for war crimes. The Wall Street Journal reported, via Jihad Watch:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed “great regret” in August that the U.S. is not a signatory to the International Criminal Court (ICC). This has fueled speculation that the Obama administration may reverse another Bush policy and sign up for what could lead to the trial of Americans for war crimes in The Hague.

The ICC’s chief prosecutor, though, has no intention of waiting for Washington to submit to the court’s authority. Luis Moreno Ocampo says he already has jurisdiction—at least with respect to Afghanistan.

Because Kabul in 2003 ratified the Rome Statute—the ICC’s founding treaty—all soldiers on Afghan territory, even those from nontreaty countries, fall under the ICC’s oversight, Mr. Ocampo told me. And the chief prosecutor says he is already conducting a “preliminary examination” into whether NATO troops, including American soldiers, fighting the Taliban may have to be put in the dock.

“We have to check if crimes against humanity, war crimes or genocide have been committed in Afghanistan,” Mr. Ocampo told me. “There are serious allegations against the Taliban and al Qaeda and serious allegations about warlords, even against some who are connected with members of the government.” Taking up his inquiry of Allied soldiers, he added, “there are different reports about problems with bombings and there are also allegations about torture.”

It was clear who the targets of these particular inquiries are but the chief prosecutor shied away from spelling it out.

Asked repeatedly whether the examination of bombings and torture allegations refers to NATO and U.S. soldiers, Mr. Ocampo finally stated that “we are investigating whoever commits war crimes, including the group you mentioned.”

Obama has done everything possible to lose the military. This is just icing on the cake. Look for recruit numbers to decline, and for reenlistment to dwindle. Of course, Obama will like that so he can institute his civilian police force. Wonder if they will be accountable to the Hague?

What I meant was the Obama is Commander in Chief. Or Communist in Chief. But military officers are still required to do what he says.

Or am I wrong?

Different crime....but same "process" here??

Officers and all the Army for that matter give an oath to The Constitution - NOT to the president. If the president happens to be or act like a traitor, the Us Army has a DUTY to protect the land and the Constitution agains all enemy even from within. If they understand their oath correctly, that what they should be doing. Not preach for diversity but PROTECT the land and THEIR OWN.

this would be the absolute surefire road to
a tipping point that would either lead to the

Here is so many things - treason acts that guy did since he is in power (and criminal and civil he did before) - if we could have strong lawyers and build a list with all the facts - laws signed - executive orders and a proof that such acts are against the Constitution which IS the law of the land, and proving also that those acts ENDANGER the country, therefore this is protecting the enemy in time of war, therfore is treason - if here is enough lawsuits heading in the same direction, maybe, of course it’s a maybe we could ..start to get somewhere. We need some sort of strong start to force this congress to apply the law and STOP selling America and our troops out and protect OUR ENEMIES! Any ideas are welcome.

And any moron who thinks this would be happening if McCain had won is dumber than a 3 dollar bill. I didn’t like McCain but knew he would be different than Obama especially in these types of things.

So am I. My youngest grandson plans to join the Marines when he graduates next May. Normally I’d be nothing but proud of him; now I wish he wouldn’t.

Ironically of all the people in Illinois Obama has brought to Washington he should have brought me.

I worked in security vetting people for events for years. They never would have gotten past me.

I also used to work for an businessman who dealt with different countries and cultures all the time. It was part of my job to make sure he knew what the custom was so the embarassment in Japan would not have happened.

My stepnephew is considering waiting til 2013. He graduates high school in 2011. But he will not enlist under this administration.
