Senator Questions Obama Eligibility

WASHINGTON – A U.S. senator has weighed in on the continuing controversy over Barack Obama's eligibility for office by saying he has never seen proof the new president was actually born in Hawaii.

"Well, his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven't seen any birth certificate," Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., told constituents in Cullman County. "You have to be born in America to be president."

What federal document is that?

Please all....do not forget that electronic forensic experts have deconstructed the “COLB” on Factcheck.org and said it is a forgery using 2007 graphic elements.

No forensic expert has said any such thing.

There are questions about whether his citizenship, if he ever had it, was forfeited when he was adoped by his mother's second husband Mr. Sottero who was an Inonesian citizen.

There are no questions about that. There were no provisions under the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 for a minor child to lose their US citizenship, whether through adoption or having been naturalized as a citizen in another country. Nor are there any such provisions under the current Immigration and Nationality Act (1986).

The questions only arose because Phil Berg never bothered to actually read the law, which directly contradicts the claims made in his lawsuit.

And since Indonesia did not allow for dual citizenship, there would not have been any way for Obama to have legally become an Indonesian citizen.

I don’t think so, to be natural born he needs two parents who are citizens at the time of his birth, at least that was the original meaning of the term.

That's incorrect. The original meaning of the term came from the English common law, which requires only birth in the territory, regardless of the citizenship of one's parents. I previously cited James Madison, and I would like to think he was aware of its original meaning.

There are no questions about that.

I was paraphrasing arguments I had read on Free Republic and other sources. I was pretty sure that the courts wouldn't let the actions of a parent cause a child to lose his or her citizenship.

The Left is a scary place. They are everywhere and they act in unison to shut down any dissent. Been organizing since the 1930s and the right just can't believe its eyes. It will not stop until we begin to neutralize them with opposition structure. As of now, we have precious little.

According to the Naturalization Act of 1790, a person could be born to two US citizens overseas and be considered a "natural born citizen".

And please note that that term was removed just five years later in the 1795 Act. And it's interesting to note that when the 1790 Act was passed, the Tenth Amendment had yet to be ratified. Then, in 1795, after the ratification of the Tenth Amendment, suddenly "natural born citizen" becomes just "citizen."

It's also worth noting that among those who are considered citizens along with those born outside the US to citizen parents are children who were not born here or born to US citizens, but the children of parents who had become naturalized citizens before their children turned twenty one.

So only for a brief period between 1790 and 1795 were children born outside the US to citizen parents considered "natural born citizens." It has never been the case since then.

What would happen if 100 million or more did not pay their federal income taxes UNTIL Obama shows all requested documents? And for those coward states who refused to vet Obama, not pay state income tax either.

Because 100 million Americans are surfs who have payroll deductions taken from their paychecks each week or two because they can't be trusted to send in the money at the end of the year.

But... 100 million Americans CAN stop making payments on mortgages, credit cards, car payments, etc. and put HUGE pressure on the Federal Reserve, the corrupt banking system (of which Obama & CO. are about to buy 40% of Citi). Think General Strike like they do in Latin America and Europe. And... the best part... its legal. Not paying taxes is against the law.

One would certainly hope. But regardless of the courts, there has simply never been any provision in US nationality law for a child to lose their US citizenship, even by way of their parents.

I’m all for a General Strike. We really need huge numbers of people to protest, because it is so easy for the Obama-worshipers to infiltrate small protests and try to turn them into occasions of violence. Not that we have seen this yet, but it is an old tactic, but it does not work as well when there are huge numbers of people protesting.

The 14th amendment doesn't limit citizenship at birth to just those born in the US and subject to its jurisdiction...

It does exactly that.

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States, and of the state wherein they reside.


It is quite clear that the the only US citizens there can be are those who are born in the United States, or who are naturalized in the United States. If you are not born in the United States, the only way you can be a US citizen is by naturalization.

The 14th amendment says nothing about the status of the children of US citizens born overseas.

The Fourteenth Amendment establishes who are citizens of the United States. If you are not a citizen under the Fourteenth Amendment, either by being born in the United States, or by being naturalized, you are simply not a citizen of the United States.

I don't know if Chin voted for Obama or not. Nor do I see that it's of any relevance. Either his arguments hold water or they don't. If you have an issue with any of the arguments he makes, then take issue with the argument made.

E=MC2 either holds water or it doesn't. Doesn't matter what Einstein's politics may have been.
