Transgender policy to be tested (school labels 5yr-old "gender confused" -will be raised as a girl)
Miami Herald ^ | Thu, Jul. 13, 2006 | ROBERTO SANTIAGO

Few will know this genetic truth, because the 5-year-old's parents and school administrators have agreed that it's in his best interest to blend in as a female.

Mental health professionals have diagnosed Pat - not his real name - with gender dysphoria, a condition in which a person believes that he or she is the opposite gender. After two years of examination, they have determined that he is not simply effeminate or going through a phase.

"Gender dysphoria can take place during a fetus' development in the womb," said noted gender specialist and sexologist Marilyn Volker, Ph.D., of Miami.

While this tyke is likely the youngest transgendered child admitted to a South Florida school, he is not unique. Both the Broward and Miami-Dade County school systems have policies in place to smooth the way for such students and their families.

Equality Florida, which advocates for Florida's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community, and PFLAG - Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays - say the two school districts have the most progressive policies in the state.

Broward and Miami-Dade are among the most exemplary school districts "when it comes to the rights of transgendered people," said Tobias Packer, South Florida Field Organizer for Equality Florida, who himself is transgendered.

Student victims

Carole Benowitz, Florida state coordinator for PFLAG, agrees. Her adult son is gay.

Benowitz said that two years ago - at a Broward high school she declined to name - she was called in after a group of boys beat up another student, whom they believed to be an effeminate boy. In fact, the victim was transgendered - a biological female who looked, dressed and behaved like a male. Benowitz was brought in to counsel the administrators, the students and the victim.

"People have an understanding

Incidently, Christopher Knight was ACTUALLY in the news today here. I am debating whether to post this story, but I'm guessing it would just get moved to chat.

The guy just refuses to stay dead.

If I can remember correctly; Yes, unbelievably tragic. He later killed himself.

The doctor should be in prison. I believe the parents were easily lead at the time to go ahead with this procedure and counseling. They are also totally destroyed and racked with guilt over what happened.

It's not the child's fault. It's the parents who are 'gender-confused'.

Also, if there was a 'gay gene' then gene therapy would follow and the gay activist don't want they.
If there were a gay gene then you could test and abort. They don't want that either.

Same sex attraction is not asked for yet this information to the public is often drowed out: that 'change is possible' and the 'abnormal behavior can be overcome'. We have done a diservice in telling those with SSA for 33 yrs [since abortion started] that they must be gay, accept it as normal and just be who you are. This is the travesty of it all. Now we have to try to put the genie back in the bottle and we all know how difficult that is!

He and his three older siblings.

It is often the youngest in the family that has these kinds of weird situations. I don't know why. I am glad that I am the oldest in the family. The youngest children are often gay (at least that is the studies). I am unsure why that is.

More pro-homosexual propaganda. The study was unscientific, now people are citing it as fact. Sort of like how my liberal grammar school teachers used to say "Look around the room: One in ten of you is gay." Its all BS, the only thing all gays have in common is facilitated access to other gays.

It was also the basis for a "Law and Order: SVU" episode.

"Not a single piece of evidence exists that proves being 'gay' is genetic"

Changes can take place in the womb due to a hormonal imbalance. This has nothing to do with genes.

A female bee can be changed into a queen bee (with exactly the same genes) through hormonal changes.

"Changes can take place in the womb due to a hormonal imbalance."

Although that may be true, it still does not mean that someone can be 'born' gay. And is not proof that such an occurrence exists.

Yo Marilyn (or is it really Marvin?), you're flucking nuts and you're statement is CONTRARY to what real experts say.

Gender dysphoria

So ya jerk-weed mental case, how can any of that occur in the womb by a fetus? HUH!!!

Yes, he committed suicide.

He followed his twin brother's example. He also committed suicide. The twin brother who throughout his whole, short, life probably felt like he had dodged a bullet!

This would seem to support that someone's gender identity (wheter they are a boy or girl) is set at birth or shortly thereafter.

It makes sense to me that in some cases the brain is wired wrong (just like any other "birth defect") and then it's a case of what to do with the child. Probably best to let it live as wants if it's that determined about it. Though I would home school rather than public school such a child.

Good article. I think the link worth repeating:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/reimer/

..."He was a beautiful little girl."...

...Janet Reimer did her best to raise Bruce as a girl. She dressed him in skirts and dresses and showed him how to apply make-up. But the transformation was anything but smooth. Bruce Reimer didn't like playing with the other girls – and he didn't move like one either. He got into schoolyard fistfights. The other kids called him names like "caveman," "freak" and "it."...

...By the time Bruce turned nine, the Reimer family was having serious doubts...

...The twin brother, Brian, remembered it differently: "The only difference between him and I was he had longer hair." "I tried really, really hard to rear her as a gentle lady," Janet Reimer said. "But it didn't happen."...

...Bruce Reimer said he had one thought at the time: to go to the hospital and track down and shoot the doctor who had botched his circumcision. In the end, he was unable to exact his revenge, but turned his anger on himself...

...Bruce Reimer left his Brenda identity behind. He cut his hair and started wearing male clothing again. He changed his name to David...

I agree with the second half, but from what I have heard (I guess you could be right on the press too) is that the youngest child has the higher chance of being Gay. Maybe they counted them...I don't know. I just hurd this. I guess it could be BS, but what would the answer be? I don't know or care really...

In the scientifically insignificant pool of subjects tested that may have been the case. The jury's still out in terms of the population as a whole.

Just what is this "policy" -anyone feel free to post it as the article seemed not to cite one REGARDLESS it did cite much leftist opinion and propaganda...

This would be a tiny bit humorous, if it wasn't so horribly, heartbreakingly tragic.

That poor little boy!

It's nothing short of State sanctioned and endorsed child abuse.

If
true, perhaps it's because the youngest boy is the one most exposed to older boys (who could molest him).
