It seems bizarre but it's handy when they start the rant about him being in Bush's pocket.

How 'bout this:

I think this administration is still seeking some kind of victory over there. It is still committed to the idea totally of a non-THEOCRATIC ISLAMIC regime, and I think that that's unrealistic in terms of the political forces that are at play in THE MIDDLE EAST.

Exactly.

And the concept of going to Vietnam was to defeat Communism. It took a while, but we ultimately succeeded.

"He told him that only a few select ships had this designation. Is that true?"

No, ALL US Navy AND US Coast Guard ships
who served in the Tonki Gulf are eligble
to wear the patch.

O'Neil is even more polished today than he was then, my feeling is he would crush Kerry in open debate. Kerry has the same lines down he used in the past but seems to have lost his rhythm. I guess that happens when you cease to accuse honorable military personel of war crimes on a daily basis.

This debate was an eye opener. It cemented the image of Kerry far better than even his Senate testimony did.

Kerry is dangerous. More dangerous than I realized. Clinton is Mr. Rodgers next to this man.

This is how I see it. Kerry came home thinking the war was not possible to win. He wanted to help bring the others home so he tried to make the war sound as terrible as possible. There was also the added benefit of himself being in the spotlight. He never actually saw most of the horrible things described he just heard them as rumors. He wasn't worried about proof because he knew if people got the impression that these attrocities were common it would help build public pressure to end the war.

Clinton is a better liar. Clinton was just as dangerous, history will show us that.

''The man above you was relieved of duty?
I would like to know if this is true as well. Does anyone know if the "man above him" was relieved of duty and if they were rotating people in as Kerry alleged because there was near mutiny and refusal to follow orders?

On another note, Kerry's final slap, "I wish we could get into the issues," says a lot about him. He seems to believe he can tell any lie or push any propaganda without being called on it.

I never heard anything about that charge about the superior being relieved - I sent it to Drudge, Aloha Ronnie, to latch@swiftvets.com...if anyone knows how to send it to Hannity or Hugh, do it!

Kerry's final slap, "I wish we could get into the issues," is typical, and shows his sneaky debating style - he is familiar enough in debating to time his 'zings' hoping to get the last word in, but O"Neill was onto him like a cat on a rat.

Kerry has spent his whole life trying to best someone who was actually his better - the pressure to maintain this charade for 50 years must be crushing - he must be unaware of it, but a trained professional would no doubt have him on multiple meds, thrice weekly sessions and behavioral therapy.....

Interesting:

When Matthews nailed him for being from Texas, O'Neill pointed out that he has not voted Republican since 1988. He voted for Perot twice and then for Gore. Yes, O'Neill voted for Al Gore over George Bush. After that little gem came out, Chris Matthews said he didn't really care who anyone voted for.

a fellow FReeper has already sent a request to another FReeper and may also send off something to Drudge to find this out.

Good post and well said. Yes, Clinton is a two-bit huckster next to Kerry.

I wish we could get more people to watch this program.
