The former Navy personnel who are attempting to discredit Sen. John Kerry's record of service in Vietnam are doing so to argue that he is unqualified to be commander in chief. Most appear to be angry with him on account of his opposition to the Vietnam War, not his service in it. They have done a better job of damaging the reputation of the U.S. Navy than they have of damaging John Kerry.
Moreover, they ignore what I consider to be the most important qualities any commander in chief must possess. If elected in November, John Kerry will make an exceptionally good commander in chief. ...
But they should have no doubt about his capacity to perform the duties of commander in chief...
I am impressed by his service and by the loyalty of the band of brothers who served under his command. ...
My confidence also comes from knowing that he knows what it's like to have served under leaders who lacked the moral clarity or the political backbone to sustain an effort from beginning to end. ...
Can his opponents cite one instance in which he failed to put his political career on the line for those who have already served?

Only his entire failed career in the Senate where he voted against every single weapons system, against body armor, fuel, ammunition for troops in Iraq, sided with our enemies in SE Asia and Central America.
Absolutely nauseating....
That was it. .....can't stomach any more.
This is the dude that kept referring to Dr. Rice as Dr. Clarke......oh yes, he's the perfect one to make a cogent argument on Kerry's behalf.
Members of the copperheads, much as Gen McClellan was.
Read the headline of this piece, and think about what it means that a leading Democrat has to say it in so many words, less than three months before the election.
'They have done a better job of damaging the reputation of the U.S. Navy than they have of damaging John Kerry'
HUH? They are defending the US Navy from someone who has lied about his record and insulted those who served honorably!
MY GAWD......Take that guys water pipe away from him, will ya...
Ex-Sen. Bob Kerrey used to go out with actress Debra Winger...............PLUS he has a BAD haircut.......what does THAT tell you about the guy???????
In short, this Kerrey has joined that Kerry in spitting on veterans. How sad. How follish. How useless, because it's too late to unring the bell.

Wait a minute, Great Kazoo. Who has been going around calling these men war criminals?
Let me give you a hint: His last name is spelled a lot like yours.
Now that I think about it...didn't you also accuse your fellow Vietnam veterans of being baby-killers?
My confidence also comes from knowing that he knows what it's like to have served under leaders who lacked the moral clarity or the political backbone to sustain an effort from beginning to end. ...
Uh Bob, those were all democrats you are talking about.
My two cents!
Four months for any one of them??? Most I understand were under 5 weeks? What would garner such loyalty. I mean really. I served with folks for three years or more (and at the time liked everyone) and wouldn't back them if they had done what he did when he got back state side.
Bob Kerrey, a former United States senator who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his military service in Vietnam, has acknowledged that a combat mission he led there three decades ago caused the deaths of 13 to 20 unarmed civilians, most of them women and children....
...The thing that I will remember until the day I die is walking in and finding, I don't know, 14 or so, I don't even know what the number was, women and children who were dead," he told The Times Magazine...
...another member of the squad, Gerhard Klann, said the Seals rounded up women and children from the edges of the hooches, then debated what to do with them. Feeling they could not safely escape either by releasing them or taking them prisoner, they opened fire on them after Mr. Kerrey gave the order, Mr. Klann said...

But to quote Dohothy, "What would you do with a brain if you had one?"
one admitted Vietnam war criminal defending another admitted Vietnam war criminal
For the inevitable request for source.

Well since Bob Kerrey didn't serve with John Kerry either, he should just STFU.
You can't criticize Kerry unless you were there doncha know.
