Fox news just reported there are questions now about where Rassmann actually was. He said he was on Kerry's boat when it got ambushed, but Kerry's web site says Rassmann was on the boat behind his. Just more questions about kerry's seemingly faulty memory.

I keep thinking of the Gilligan episode where Thurston Howell III was day dreaming back to when he had purchased a new Yacht. When asked if he like sailing aboard her he responded, "By George, I get sea sick. I just like the hat that came with it, Oh Lovey"!

My understanding was that Rassman fell from another boat, Boat #3, which had struck a floating mine, and while two sailors who had fallen from the same boat were picked up out of the water, Rassman, to avoid what he thought was gunfire from shore, dived beneath the water, surfacing only briefly to catch his breath, all the while unaware that the flotilla of boats, including the stricken #3, were nearby. Kerry had fled the immediate scene, then turned back to see the flotilla surrounding Boat #3, still circling in the water, until a crewman from another boat scrambled aboard and brought the boat under control. The crewmen on board #3 had all been dazed in the mine explosion, and were lying about. Kerry's boat came shooting back, and he spotted Rassman in the water, as he was coming to the surface to catch another gasp of air. Kerry came alongside, Rassman clambered up the cargo net, and was tumbled into PCF-94, thus giving Kerry the credit for the rescue.
There was never any fire from either side of the shore. All the gunfire was coming from the flotilla, laying down cover to rescue the stricken boat #3.
Some very heroic feats were performed that day. Unfortunately only one of them was deemed worthy of a medal.
I can believe Rassman maybe not remembering which boat he actually fell off. The rest of it? Well...
He was left holding the pieces unable to fire back while one of the Green Berets walked along the edge of the boat to get Tommy another M-60. As he was doing so, the boat made a high speed turn to starboard and the Green Beret kept going--straight into the river.
I thought that Rassman was blown off the boat by the mine. Now by Kerry's own words in the Congressional Record he says the guy fell off when he made a "high speed" turn.
It may be that this was a diffent event and different guy who was falling off his boat but this story differs greatly from the Rassman story.
Can someone tell me if Kerry ever received a wound that broke the skin surface on this outing? I have heard that all he had was a good sized bruise/ or contusion on his forearm.
According to Gardener, sKerry's machine gunner, sKerry himself put himself in for a silver star. It was downgraded to Bronze. He also stated that sKerry wrote the citation himself.

I think you are right. the first article I read about Rassman seeing Kerry for the first time in Iowa, he told the reporter that he had called Kerry years earlier but his phone calls were never returned. When he called this time, they got right back to him! I guess they didn't need to use him before, some brother!
The whole thing stinks and I don't believe any of them, I believe they are all covering for each other and heck, free travel, a paycheck and your face on TV all the time.... not bad for losers. Possibly some were VVAW members with Kerry, where are all those guys? He spent more time with them than anybody he knew from his brief tour. They are his true band of brothers, how many are standing behind him now?
Does anyone know if a member list of VVAW can be obtained anywhere?
I happened to channel surf into that 'softball' show last night. I agree with you totally. It was disgusting the way they treated John O'Neill on that show.
