Kerry Threatens TV Stations Over Swift Boat Ad (Letter Contains "Obvious Lie"; BIG Kerry Stumble!)
National Review Online ^ | 8/5/04 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 08/05/2004 4:27:59 PM PDT by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

Human Events reports that the DNC and the Kerry campaign are writing to television stations, stating that the Swift Boat ads is is "false" and "libelous" and that "your station may not responsibly air this advertisement."

At least one of their points in the letter is an obvious lie: "The advertisement contains statements by men who purport to have served on Senator John Kerry's SWIFT [sic] boat in Vietnam and one statement by a man pretending to be the doctor who treated Senator Kerry for one of his injuries."

Horsepucky.

Every vet in the ad says, "I served with John Kerry," but not one of them claims to have been in his boat. Most of the men are other swiftboat captains. They've been open and clear in their statements that they served in other swift boats operating within 50 yards on Kerry's side, and their statements are their observations on serving alongside him, not under him.

NR's own Byron York had the scoop on Louis Letson, the doctor, months ago. The Kerry letter insists that Letson is a "phony" because he didn't sign Kerry's sick call sheet.

The Los Angeles Times looked at the who-signed-the-form controversy back in May:

"Meehan questioned Letson's role, saying a J.C. Carreon signed Kerry's medical report of the wound. "This gentleman is not the man who is on the report," he said.

Letson said that Carreon, a lower-ranked "hospitalman," was "present at the time and he, in fact, made the entry into Lt. Kerry's medical record."

Bad move, Team Kerry. The letter from the lawyers turns this into a bigger story, and the argument that these men are "phony" doesn't seem all that strong.

Apparently Kerry, on the Senate floor in 1986, re-lived his "illegal incursion into Cambodia" on Christmas of 1968, secretly ordered there by Nixon. Only problem, Nixon wasn't inaugurated until Jan 20, 1969, and Kerry was in his barracks with everyone else that day, 50 miles from the Cambodian border.

Pish tosh - easily explained away.

"(B)ack then, 1968, 1969 were absolutely interchangeable".

"
This "oh, deary deary dear" fretting and wringing of hands over the possibility that someone, somewhere may actually give us a real mean, hard look is a great way to win elections... for the other guy. "

Tell me about it. The last decade was spent showing the nation that the Democrats are nothing but liars, Clinton's epitaph will be that he lied, everyone knows that Kerry is a liar, and we still have sniveling whiners and cowards worrying that if we tell the truth, we will be seen as big bullies.

I have to say, Clinton and his cronies did an excellent job of brainwashing many on our side.

To John Kerry in best Jack Nicholson voice (Okay, so maybe the voice is a bit of a stretch): "Truth? You can't handle the truth."

I just saw the commercial for the first time five minutes ago. I want to contribute to help get it on radio and television. My credit card is in hand, but I can't get through to swiftvets.com. Can anyone please direct me to a link to where I can donate money to this cause?

As I said the Analogy was somewhat the same (not totally the same) - but the premise is the same - The Group funding this SBV against Kerry don't have the funds to compete with how the media will spin it -

If they don't have the funds to help set the record straight...it doesn't do any good in the long run -

And the GWB camp wants no part of it -

If he was never in Cambodia, never sent by Nixon on a secret mission, changed his story after somebody challenged him, then he's a cooked goose.

I don't get Fox News anymore. Are they discussing this new book and promoting it? Hopefully.

Its sure not going to be talked about from the liberal newspapers here.

Kerry is a "Glory Boy" and he insults the intelligence of every Veteran, and every Serviceman and Servicewoman fighting for our country today.

Stormy

On Haniity, paraphrasing, one of the Swift Boat vet's said words to effect of "We've been under fire before, and faced real bullets. We'd be pretty poor if we got scared away by mere words..."

Er, so they publically say! hehe!!! And well they should 'publically' say this!

This is a case of the little people rising up to match the people involved in the soros, norman lear, hillary clinton, ira magaziner, james carville, ann lewis MOVEON.org crap.

These men knew Kerry.

This men fear kerry serving as the commander in chief.

And these good men decided to DO something about it!

Go AMERICA!

As long as it is the truth.....then that is EXACTLY what our nation deserves to hear.

These men now sit at the table where kerry once sat when he spewed his venom as an anti-war, commie appeasing four month veteran, to the United States Senate.

Good to see them having their say.....HURRAH FOR THE SWIFT BOAT HEROS!

Makes them better, more admirable men than some of the so-called "conservatives" arguing so desperately in this very thread for our complete and unconditional surrender, doesn't it?

Our veterans, once again (as always) are boldly leading the way, taking all the risk of danger onto themselves. Anyone here who can't find it within themselves -- someway, somehow -- to support them in that courageous effort is doing just what Kerry did, ultimately: turning and running away.

Legally only a lawyer representing John Kerry and not a lawyer from the DNC or the Kerry Edwards campaign could threaten such a lawsuit.

Isn't Kerry intimately affiliated with the DNC, as though they were his employers? I'm not convinced they dont have standing to represent Kerry.

I believe there will be sufficient funds to keep this alive plenty long to embed it into the emulsion sheets of most remotely awake citizens.

Freepers alone can help see to that.
