I need help with my turn page paper on the collapse of communism

Hi! My name is John Martineu. Im 18 and a student of Dover high School in Dover Delaware. I have been assigned a final term project. We are to do a 20 page turn paper on different subjects. I am doing one on the collapse of communism. Since you coservatives know alot about this, I was wondering if you could help me out.

First Id like to know what communism is and how it is different from socialism? Second I would also like to know about why Russia collapsed. Third could you tell me why you refer to certain people such as Ann Goodman and Helen Thomas as Communists? Finally Id like to know the advatages of Captialism.

Every bit of information will help me with typing this up. Its due in a month and I hope to pass with flying colors. I might even post it on Freerepublic when it's done. Thanks alot guys

It was on Cspan, they said helen was being unamerican for complaining about the loss of liberties after 9/11. I dont understand how that is communist? I thought it was the exact opposite? I think their just going after her for having opposing viewpoints. Just like how you guys keep getting called racists sexists and bigot homophobes like that one blond lady who got fired from MSNBC and who is always shouting off funny stuff. I like her, whats her name again?

McCarthyism is completely irrelevant to your account of the collapse of the Soviet Union. It IS relevant to a discussion of the the inroads the Soviets were trying to make in influencing American politics and culture (government, protest, and indoctrinating arts). The KGB files seen after the fall of the USSR bear this out.

And for all of the talk that your teacher probably gave you that Henry Miller's "The Crucible" was about "McCarthyism", Senator McCarthy was not the catalyst for Mr. Miller to write the play (he already saw these hearings before Mr. McCarthy was involved).

The Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs also have no real significance to a 10-20 page paper on the fall of the USSR. There were also other near battles in WWIII (aka the Cold War) but some of them are only coming to light 20+ years later.
