Joseph Lieberman Reverts to Form The Lieberman Paradigm / the logic of pathologic self-interest Redux
- by Mia T, 12.1.03

Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Joseph Lieberman defended Sen. Hillary Clinton on Sunday after she made politically toxic comments predicting possible U.S. failure in Iraq during what was supposed to be a morale-boosting visit to the troops on Friday.
Asked if Sen. Clinton was wrong to voice such a pessimistic sentiment from the war zone, Sen. Lieberman told "Fox News Sunday," "In the most technical sense that we're in a war now in which, in the last month, we have lost more American soldiers than we have in any other month since the actual war began ... in a technical sense, victory is not assured."
However, the Connecticut Democrat was quick to add: "But I will say this, there is no substitute for victory here. We must pull together across party lines here in the United States and we have to pull together with the rest of the world in a way President Bush has not been able to accomplish."
During a radio interview in Kuwait on Friday, broadcast just miles from the Iraq war front lines, Sen. Clinton warned, "We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome is not assured."
She also admitted to telling U.S. troops directly earlier in the day that support for the war was starting to erode, explaining that Americans were raising "many questions at home about the [Bush] administration's policies."
While Sen. Lieberman was not asked about Mrs. Clinton's decision to criticize the commander in chief to troops stationed in a war zone, MSNBC commentator Bill Press said Hillary was right to blast Bush to GIs in Iraq.
"She said, 'Well, everybody supports the troops, but there's still a lot of questions about the policy.' And there are," Press told WABC Radio's Steve Malzberg on Sunday.
"I mean, you can't hide it," the former "Buchanan & Press" host added. "Bush's trip, great as it was, didn't change anything in the sense that there are still a lot of serious questions about this war."

Senator Joseph Lieberman's bifurcated Monicagate speech in 1998 on the floor of the Senate was almost universally misperceived as an act of honesty and courage.
In reality, it was neither.
- Reduced to its essence, Lieberman's argument was this:
- clinton is an unfit president;
therefore, clinton must remain president.
I have called this argument "The Lieberman Paradigm."

the logic of pathologic self-interest
by Mia T
There was a third chance to get rid of the clintons. In '98, when there was still time to stop bin Laden...
The failure to remove the clintons in '98 was a monumental error and is directly traceable to the logic of pathologic self-interest.
Recall in particular:
- THE LIEBERMAN PARADIGM: (clinton is an unfit president; therefore clinton must remain president)
-
-
THE LIEBERMAN PARADIGM
Senator Joseph Lieberman's bifurcated Monicagate speech in 1998 on the floor of the Senate was almost universally misperceived as an act of honesty and courage.
In reality, it was neither.
- Reduced to its essence, Lieberman's argument was this:
- clinton is an unfit president;
therefore, clinton must remain president.
- I have called this argument "The Lieberman Paradigm."
Lieberman's argument that sorry day was rightly headed toward clinton's certain ouster when it suddenly made a swift, hairpin 180, as if clinton hacks took over the wheel. . .which they probably did.
What was Joe promised? A place on the 2000 ticket?
To be fair, it was not the Lieberman speech but rather a New York Times apologia that institutionalized this shameless scheme to protect a thoroughly corrupt and repugnant--and--as everyone except The New York Times now acknowledges-- dangerous -- Democrat regime.
The Lieberman Paradigm made its debut in The Times' utterly loony 1996 endorsement of clinton. The Times actually argued -- NOTE: this is NOT satire on my part (nor is it satire, as far as I can discern, on the part of The Times) -- that although bill clinton was a "corrupt," "dysfunctional personality [with] delusions" -- The Times' own words -- we need not -- we must not -- remove bill clinton; we need only remove.the character lobe of bill clinton's brain.
THE SHAYS SYNDROME
Not an aberration, the Shays Syndrome was quickly adopted by the entire Senate as its impeachment show trial deus ex machina of choice.
Shays, you may recall, examined the evidence in the Ford Building, concluded that clinton did, indeed, rape Broaddrick -- "VICIOUSLY!" AND "TWICE!" he declared at the time-- and was planning to vote to impeach; he changed his mind, however, after a tete a tete with the rapist.
EPILOGUE: (ADDITIONAL AUDIO) Hear Christopher Shays: "The bottom line: HE DID RAPE BROADDRICK."
(viewing movie requires Flash Player 6, available HERE) thanx to Wolverine for the audio
Any cognitive dissonance Shays may have experienced rendering that verdict was no doubt assuaged by the political plum clinton had given Mrs. (Betsi) Shays...
Each of the 50 senators, on the other hand, cured the cognitive dissonance problem pre-emptively by making certain not to examine the damning Ford Building evidence in the first place. |

Who in his right mind would ever want the clintons back in the Oval Office?
More to the point:
Who in his right mind would want the seditious clintons unconfined?
Hamilton (or Madison) discussed the importance of wisdom and virtue in Federalist 57. "The aim of every political constitution is, or ought to be, first to obtain for rulers men who possess most wisdom to discern, and most virtue to pursue, the common good of the society; and in the next place, to take the most effectual precautions for keeping them virtuous whilst they continue to hold their public trust."
(Contrast this with [the] clinton[s], who recklessly, reflexively and feloniously subordinates the common good to his [their] personal appetites.)

I posted this on the thread covering the beast's face time with Couric this AM. It fits here too, so I'll bore y'all with an additional link...
From the Drudge-linked coverage of her 'tour':
"We have to exert all of our efforts militarily, but the outcome (in Iraq) is not assured," she said
Clinton said it is still an open question whether the Bush administration can make the transition in Iraq from a war zone to an independent, representative government. In an interview with the Associated Press, she called for United Nations assistance in the process
The morale of the troops, she said, "is very high," but she said the military personnel with whom she spoke wanted to know "how the people at home feel about what we are doing."
"Americans are wholeheartedly proud of what you are doing,' " Clinton said she replied, "but there are many questions at home about the (Bush) administration's policies. "
http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20031129/1053287.asp Very nice of the hissing witch. Go over, praise the troops and at the same time whisper about a possible quagmire and confused leadership. In the linked article, notice that she also calls for increasing the military's size by 10,000 troops. Where was that sentiment when they carved up the military during her administration?
It is also interesting (and Republicans better take heed) that Hillary and Reed are taking the tack of calling for speeding up delivery of Humvees with more armor and more body armor for the troops. The Humvees are in the pipeline somewhere, but the beast does the expedient thing of calling for 'speeding up' delivery. It would be interesting to discover if she, in fact, has voted for the kinds of spending bills that would have allowed such changes and funding. I kind'a doubt it.
BEWARE OF THIS TACTIC: There is NO real concern for troops when a politician, who despises the American idea of the citizen soldier, hates the organizations and traditions which they serve, spits on their codes and sense of patriotism, criticizes their missions, leadership and the country which they serve and, yet, strives to provide the finest in Band-Aids with which to bind their wounds.
There is also a lesson in this for many on the right side of the aisle. The RAT Wellstone made a career out of 'caring' for veterans by adding a little pork to all kinds of bills to help secure the VA, VFW and American Legion votes. This tour by the beast is further evidence that the RAT's have patented the 'caring' for the troops while hating the military angle. Lackadaisical Republicans and pro-military conservatives better be aware of that strategy and do some heavy lifting for the troops on their own.

bump!
In my view, it is not too soon for us to launch a movement to have this woman removed from office. She and her co-rapist husband are a clear and present danger.
Surely, some of the massive amount of indictable stuff in their FBI files could... uh... leak out.... The sheer symmetry of it would be poetic justice, for a start....

Snoop Dog went on to greater fame, eventually producing porno-rap, and well 50 Cent and Juvinile's Back That Thing Up got allot of airplay. So much for Lieberman's crusade. The major media has already begun its campaign and for the Democratic Party by continually parading the Star Wars bar patrons on our TV screen.
What makes me not freak and conclude that the train is completely off its tracks is when GWB pokes them in the eye.

Oh, I'll agree that she sure is doing what you say. That is part & parcel of the Krinton playbook - cover all bases in some way so that a soundbite or quote can be lifted to CYA or flog your enemies when they stumble.
What I'm getting at is the development of an actual tactical pattern to strengthen support among un-informed or ill-advised veterans and military people that the RATs care about them and are supportive of their efforts. Believe me, I know a few vets and one active troop that actually believe the RAT lies. Wellstone had this down pat.
This woman is a communist. She hates America and it's military - in all capacities. If she could win a supporter by handing out doughnuts at the USO canteen while she poisoned the MREs of soldiers in the field, she'd do it. She does what she does only to provide cover for deeper and more treasonous activities. How in hell she got a spot on the Armed Forces Commitee is beyond me. That oversight, alone, ought to get several people recalled.
