Ninety-five per cent of Americans believe the US is suffering an affordability crisis, as many report trouble with the rising cost of groceries and gas, according to a survey, conducted by Harris Poll.
Despite stable employment and record-high stock markets, more Americans believe the overall economy is getting worse (57%) than in February (46%), when the poll was last conducted and before the war in the Middle East sent gas prices soaring. Fewer people today also believe the economy is getting better (16%, compared with 28% in February) and more say their financial security has gotten worse.
Even rural Americans, a strong base for Republicans, are feeling more pessimistic: 64% say the economy is getting worse, compared with 46% who said the same in February.

Clearly fake news. Why bother posting?
TAXES ARE TOO HIGH, YET JUST KEEP GOING UP.
We can’t afford the Govt. that we got.
They go heavy during election time. They are so obvious.
Yet we have obesity and 98% of American adults own a cell phone.
A cell phone is no longer a luxury item although there are luxury cell phones.
Home phones cost more. There are no longer pay phones. First class mail can be slow at times and is no longer considered a method of social communication.
Here in the northeast Amazon, Temu, and Shien delivery is at an all time high.
Define “struggle”. Does this mean buying other less important things instead of food? Buying filet mignon instead of chicken? Putting gas in the 600 dollar a month car they shouldnt be driving? Please. I saw far fewer sob stories about “affordability” when food inflation was 9% and gas 5 dollars a gallon.
“This indicates that American wages are generally higher than those in the UK. adamsmith.org progressivepolicy.org”
A couple weeks ago, a statistic was floating around that if UK became our 51st state, it would be the most impoverished state — #51 re economy. It’s cute that UK is chiming in on our economy when theirs sucks so badly.
Don’t forget a $4 coffee every day and ridiculously expensive hair treatments.
I ODed on videos of UK tourists here for the World Cup. The ones who were shopping were so impressed by how much less items cost here than in UK.

M2 supply up significantly.
Prepare accordingly
Bingo!
Well played, Sir!
That is very true, and there is a very strong precedent that says the government is responsible for providing food and preventing starvation.
The plastic cards are for food purchasing
Desperate attempt to undermine the experiences the Europeans visiting the USA for the World Cup.
MSM trying to reassert their dialogue.
You forgot the tattoo and marijuana industries. I no joke had a relative tell me she couldn’t afford a semester at community college, but managed to have about $400 in new tattoos.
Second to the tats is the toking up. I don’t know what the prices are for that stuff but by the smell, there’s plenty being bought.
In some circumstances the items mentioned may be taking precedence, but that doesn’t make them affordable. Phones are pretty much a necessity; the other stuff mentioned; not so much. Do you think every one on S.S. buys this stuff?
Most are living beyond their means anyway. Say they can’t make ends meet.
MOVE THE ENDS CLOSER TOGETHER and pay for your own stuff! !!!
Supposing it were true, one could instantly name the problem:
Joe Biden let in 15 to 20 million immigrants to drive down the wages of Americans and drive up housing costs. So if the “Guardian” commies are right, they should blame Joe Biden.
Well at least gas and groceries are plentiful.
