Scientist Unveils Plan to CATCH an Asteroid to ‘Block Out the Sun’ to Fight Climate Change
Daily Fetched ^ | August 8, 2023 | Jason Walsh

Scientists are reportedly looking to catch an asteroid and tether it to block out the sun in order to fight climate change.

If given the go-ahead, the bizarre plan would see a massive umbrella placed on the trapped rock to shield Earth from the sun.

An astronomer from the University of Hawaiʻi, István Szapudi, said the concept was merely an enormous ‘solar shield.’

The shield, made from graphene, would be placed on the asteroid and block out energy from the sun and cool down the Earth, the scientist claims.

The idea was outlined in a paper published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

The scientist claims the space shield would cool down Earth but not plunge us into the next ice age.

“In Hawaiʻi, many use an umbrella to block the sunlight as they walk about during the day,” Szapudi said.

“I was thinking, could we do the same for Earth and thereby mitigate the impending catastrophe of climate change?”

As The Daily Mail reports:

The ‘solar shield’ concept has been proposed before, notably in a recent study that suggested using moon dust as the sunlight blocker.

Other studies have described using a physical man-made shield that acts as an umbrella – much like Szapudi’s idea.

But according to the academic, no one has yet addressed how such an object could be feasibly launched into space and stay in position once it gets there.

Even if a rocket were able to launch the multi-billion-ton solar shield, it could potentially be blown out of position by powerful solar radiation.

And the lighter the solar shield is to get it up into space, the greater the likelihood of it getting blown about once there.

He suggests stationing the contraption at the ‘L1’ Lagrange point – a position in space between Earth and the sun where objects sent there tend to stay put.

But even then, solar radiation could blow away a light sun-shield.

Szapudi, therefore, suggests using an asteroid as a counterweight, which would be attached via a tether to the solar shield.

Importantly, the asteroid counterweight would give the contraption sufficient weight to stop it from blowing away.

But it would also reduce the total mass launched from Earth, meaning a launch of the device would be far more feasible.

According to Szapudi, the weight of the shield and counterweight combined would be approximately 3.5 million tons, about 100 times lighter than previous estimates for an untethered shield.

As The Daily Fetched reported last month, the White House announced similar solar radiation modification (SRM) support to fight “climate change.”

Earlier this year, reports revealed Gates supported the geoengineering technology to spread particles in the atmosphere to block sunlight from reaching the Earth.

Meanwhile, billionaire leftists George Soros also supported the solar geoengineering projects to dim the sun and deflect more sunlight from the Earth, Fortune reported.

Now the Biden White House voiced support for the technology, saying, “SRM offers the possibility of cooling the planet significantly on a timescale of a few years.”

“Such cooling would tend to reverse many of the negative consequences of climate change, albeit with ramifications which are now poorly understood,” the White House report said.

“Interest in SRM is heightened as greenhouse gases continue to accumulate in the atmosphere and as science tells us more about the risks associated with exceeding global temperature targets,” the report said.

Scientists? Gimme a break. It' reeks of 'environmentalists - also known as 'scientists who can't do math'...

This is so stupid it breathtaking...

1) They are admitting “climate change” is intentionally deceptive term for warming.

2) They are admitting implicitly that the sun is the actual cause of global temperature changes

3) They are admitting subconsciously that they know changing carbon consumption has no effect on global temperature changes.

The only question I have is, why is warming so bad?
First of all, it doesn’t change fast enough to significantly affect any of us, but don’t let that be a copout, because my second point is that if it warms, sobeit, and if it cools, guess what? It was meant to cool, just like the last glacial maximum, so very recent in earth historical terms.

How long before they figure out that life on earth depends on sunlight? Not that they intend to do anything more than extract money from the populace to fund their idiotic scheme.

Yeah but think of the federal grant money.....it could be coming in for years......and then when the tit starts to run dry......publish a paper that states “after years of careful consideration and hypothetical testing we have concluded it won’t work” ....... never mind. 😏

Absolutely. One can only wonder at the powers that have stood in the way. A conspiracy of some kind.

For decades, the so-called experts have argued it’s humans and not the sun that are responsible for “climate change.” I just did a search for “sun and climate change,” and here’s the first thing that popped up:

“The Sun can influence Earth’s climate, but it isn’t responsible for the warming trend we’ve seen over recent decades.”

Guess these morons didn't read history when in the Middle Ages there was a ten year period where cloud cover prevented the sun from shining through and crops failed and a huge famine covered Europe; then too, in the mid-1850's there was a period where there was no summer because this volcano went off and spews ash that went around the world blocking the sun.

They think that some asteroid is large enough to block something the size of the sun?
