Why The Dark Ages Were Actually A Time Of Great Achievement | King Arthur's Britain
YouTube ^ | May 15, 2017 | Timeline - World History Documentaries

Francis Pryor examines the relics of the Dark Ages to build a fuller picture of this much-maligned era. Popular belief has always held that the departure of the Romans led to barbarism in Britain, but archaeological finds have shed light on a cultured, literate society that embraced the growing Romanised Christian religion and embarked on a profitable trading relationship with the Byzantine Empire.

Sheep-farming archaeologist, Francis Pryor, presents a brand new historical series which explores Britain A.D, the British national character and the ultimate British icon King Arthur.

Finding new and previously unexplained evidence, Francis Pryor overturns the idea that Britain reverted to a state of anarchy and disorder after the Romans left in 410 AD. Instead of doom and gloom Francis discovers a continuous culture that assimilated influences from as far a field as the Middle East and Constantinople. Through scrutinising the myth of King Arthur to find out what was really going on when the Romans left, Francis is confronted by evidence that confounds traditional views of the 'Dark Ages'. There was also no invasion of bloodthirsty Anglo Saxons, rampaging across the countryside. With new archaeological evidence Francis discovers a far more interesting story.

I particularly enjoyed the epigraphic portion of the program. Presenter Pryor is an historian familiar to viewers of the old Time Team shows.

The “Dark Ages” was a derogatory slur made up by the elites of the so-called “Enlightenment” period as a way of disparaging those that came before them (similar to how modern day atheists refer to themselves as “brights”). Most people that use that term today know only it’s negative aspects because that’s all they’ve been taught.

Tallow and other fats used to make soap were more valuable to the public than gold. Using those fats for soap was the same as pouring them out with the chamber pot contents.

Meaning soap was not a good use of precious raw materials.

Yet they did not invent soap.

No need, they already had it.

Sort of like complaining that this generation did not invent paper.

There may not be much known about Europe during the Dark Ages because there were fewer methods of mass communication available or permissible during that time.

First known Block Printing; Chinese Monks as seen in The Diamond Sutra - Tang Dynasty of 868.

The Magna Carta, Completed in 1215

First known Printing Press 1440.

“History is Written by Victors” Winston Churchill.

Soapwort was brought over by the colonist as a soap substitute. It grows about 2 to 3 feet tall and you can use its leaves, roots, and flowers to make a soap. See the later in the video. (http://www.green-talk.com)

Yes, it was England but it began in 1440 in Germany with the invention of the printing press, which led eventually to the publishing of the Authorized King James Bible in 1611. Trace technology and you will see that it is directly related to the word of God becoming available to the common people.

You want the truth of Arthurs time?

Read these 4 seminal books by Norma Lorre Goodrich and read the footnotes:

Camelot is located by Goodrich , as well as the grave of Guenivere.

But the dreamer academics think that Camelot was in Southern England. Not so.

Norma Lorre Goodrich:

1)The Holy Grail

2) Merlin

3) Arthur

4) Guenivere

You won’t be sorry reading these. It will bring magic right into your life.

The printing press was the beginning of the end of Western Civilization. It allowed thousands of cranks to spread thousands of bad theories and disunify the West.

Ultimately we have the internet which we are told did not technologically advance due to spreading the Good Word, but spreading pornography.

Gotta have higher bandwidth when you go from nudie pics to nudie movies.

The whole notion of Arthur is probably a dream, same goes for Robin Hood.
