I have a very good job at a company I've worked for...for over 8 years. The Company is now requiring employees to say if they have been vaccinated or not...preparing us for our return next month and looking out for our safety... because the safety of all their employees is number one priority. If you say you have NOT been vaccinated, you will need to be tested every two weeks, wear a mask at all times, and be seated elsewhere. If you DO NOT RESPOND to the email, they will consider you UNVACCINATED. What the heck do I do at this point? This is utter evil. I can't believe I am living in this time. Any helpful responses would be appreciated.
“Tell them to FOAD then look for another job.”
Maybe better to look for another job and THEN tell the boss to FOAD.
Tell them you’re vaccinated.
If you wanna keep your job, tell the truth.
Then, two other courses of action depending on how much risk you’re willing to tolerate...
Set up an appointment with HR to talk about this. Be professional. State your case. If they’re not willing to cut you any slack, find out how much longer the CoupFlu theater will continue.
If you don’t like what HR says/does, you’re really PO’d and willing to risk it, get a lawyer.
My bet is your company is getting something from either your state and/or Fedzilla to keep the boot on your necks. If so, O seriously doubt they’ll want it made public. Or say of the other BS that went into them doing this to their employees.
Tell them the truth and look for another job. The market is fantastic in Fla, not sure about where you are but, I wouldn’t stay anywhere that the mask Nazis are I, control.
If you’re in a Right to Work state, you’re mostly screwed unless your state legislature has seen fit to pass worker protections.
So it comes down to the laws of your State around grounds for termination and the likelihood a normally worker-friendly court system might flip to anti-worker to support the fascist vax agenda of the Marxists.
“Assuming quitting isn’t an option I’d go with telling them the truth. My company is doing the same.”
Are they asking for proof? If not tell them either had the china virus and now have immunity or you had the shots.
More likely (from my experience), they’re getting a pile of conflicting advice from lawyers, and trying to figure out how to minimize their legal exposure.
BTW and FWIW, muzzles are coming off at a lot of employers in my neck of the woods.
At the ones where the BS continues, wearing one is becoming a point of principle. They’d rather wear the muzzle than get the jab and they don’t care who knows it.
Personally, considering the wedge it’s driving between employers and a lot of their employees I think companies are nuts to insist on the damn muzzles.
Render unto Caesar, then update your resume................
If you could get everyone thinking your way, you could get away(most likely)with just threatening to quit. As an individual doing that, you’d certainly find out what you’re worth in a hurry. In my own situation, I think I’d feel like I was between a rock & a hard place, as I had found no reasonable options for another job. However, for me the problem never existed as I had retired in 2013. I guess the thing to do first would be to look for another job. If this doesn’t work, I guess the only way is get the shots, but perhaps you could do it in such a way as to make them liable in case it didn’t work out with the shots.
If that were the case, the muzzles would NEVER come off. And they are coming off.
My bet is money and/or some other quid pro quos (regulatory relief, for example) are being offered.
Betcha.
Say yes. You aren’t being sworn in.
Sounds like speculative paranoia to me, but maybe you’re right. Any evidence you can present to support this would be helpful.
We are all still trying to figure out the reason for the big vaccination push if the vaccinated are still in such grave danger from the unvaccinated to the point where companies are keeping in place the policies you describe. It would be simpler to let the unvaccinated continue to work from home.
Not yet, no. Doesn't mean they won't eventually.
If not tell them either had the china virus and now have immunity or you had the shots.
Getting caught lying to your employer is usually a rapid road to unemployment.
What "amenities?"
Complimentary cocktail upon arrival, free bathrobe and scandals, and free admission to the hotel spa?!

Sue. The ACLJ has your back.
If you have a good job with a good company, maintaining that bond is vital. Money and eating and shelter are all kinda cool things.
If you work in healthcare, be aware OSHA cranked out new rules in June that allows healthcare firms to relax masking etc but the must have a way of tracking vaccination status. It's not the employer, it's the govt.
If your employer is just "following orders," don't take it out on them...curse Bidet, stay unvaccinated if that's your choice, and mask up at work. The silliness will end eventually, and you'll likely be lauded for your "playing ball" with the company. Trust me, HR keeps track of the whiners and the "company men" (or women....wanna be all inclus Gen here...).
If your employers is acting woke, do everything I said but start your job search. The maket is surprisingly hot. But keep it quiet. When you resign, do it professionally and with a smile on your face.
Telling senior management to go fornicate themselves is a guaranteed way to screw up your career at your current AND potential employers (the corollary to my HR comment, is HR people talk across firms).
The time to be an American and say NO isn't in this case. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that employment long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that employees are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. Every little usurpation doesn't require going to DEFCON 1. People who do such things...well...usually have to find new employers frequently.
I am not a career counselor nor do I play one on TV. Your mileage may vary. Caveat emptor.
Request a medical or religious exemption....
Or you could say “You know, I’m a pretty private person, I’m observing. I’m in the midst of deciding.” That might buy some time....But frankly you’re between a rock a hard place if you’re company requires the shot.
Federal law doesn’t restrict private businesses from asking for proof of vaccination, although some states may pass their own laws on the issue such as Florida...Florida, state lawmakers passed legislation that banned businesses from asking for proof if a person has been vaccinated.
